Are people having difficulty getting by? Food inflation here in the UK is around 15%, though it varies according to the political affiliation of the responder. As for fuel inflation, we'll have to see on Fri 26th by how much the energy price cap is going to be lifted. For many people here, it'll be a choice between heating or eating this winter. Obviously, unless there's a severe cold spell, heating is not an issue in Thailand.

I've had an iLife one for a couple of years, cheap import from HK, works fine, very thorough. It is slow, but you can get on with other things while it's trundling around. Or go down the bar.

A fairer comparison is with the UK, having a bit smaller population than Thailand, 1792 road deaths in 2016, about 5/day.

Some 18 people were under the legal age of 20 years
They must've been the dancers, it's pretty rare any of the punters are under 60.

Are Bangladesh Biman still allowed to fly into Bkk? Or anywhere else for that matter?

Will be doing the same trip next month, and I'll be trying the ferry. Less cramped and without the problem of a lunatic driver who hasn't slept for 3 days.

Wonder how much he got paid for that statement of the blindingly obvious?

Dear Thailand its to late to declare yourself the hub of weed. Canada took that honor. Oppps forgot about the Netherlands.
Though it does produce very good quality stuff.
A friend told me.

Currently suffering from a migraine "hangover". Never knew a bit of blow helped. Be good if it did get legalised as the only effective tablets, Migraleve, are banned in Thailand.

Apart from if offered a highly-paid job, why on earth would anyone want to go to the UAE?
Bear in mind that a whole load of medications that you can buy over the counter in most countries will land you time in chokey there.

When the ferry did it's initial trial runs, they had a sensible limited capacity of 150. When visiting the booking site : https://12go.asia/en/travel/pattaya/hua-hin?date=2017-03-22#!popup/en/operator/royal-passenger-liner
they are still stating capacity at 150? If it pleases the usual suspects, yes, I am the only one that is asking.
Thanks, was about to ask if there's a booking site. Like someone else said, it has to be an improvement on a mini-van driven by a lunatic. The safety concerns pale into insignificance compared with that.

"On tourism, the bank pointed out British tourists make up only 3.2 percent of all visitors to the nation, meaning a reduction in travelers would not impact the country, especially as markets such as China and Russia continue to grow."
Maybe in terms of numbers, but what about overall spend?
Also it's not just the British, Brexit dragged down the Euro and several European stock markets ended up much further down than Britain's on the first day.
If I was still running a tourist-related business out there, I'd be somewhat worried about the coming high season.

Why on earth would anyone insist on taking a gas tank on board with them? Unless they were a terrorist, of course.

Shia or Sunni... two sides of the same coin, both are holding their religions and Allah as an excuse
to kill each other and many other innocents people all in the name of their twisted believes...
both put a spin and curve on what they think the worshippers should hear and know, and it
is always bad, never good, preaching to cull, kill and destroy the non believers, as if the non
believers and other religions of the world have no right to exist in this world.... what other
religion dose that???
Just about all of them when they get mixed up in the affairs of state. A very good example is all the bloodshed and repression that greeted Protestantism's creation in Europe.
In the case of Sunni vs Shia, the Saudi monarchy use Wahhabism (an extreme form of Sunni Islam that's the basis of Al Qaeda, its splitoff faction, Isis, and the Taliban) as a prop, and have been exporting it relentlessly for about 20 years to appease its supporters. Imagine their horror when Khomeini took over Iran and instituted a theocracy without a monarchy. That we've ended up with proxy wars between them in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and others seems hardly surprising.

Memorial service for Lemmy to be shown live on youtube on Sat 9th Jan, 3pm LA time. That's 6am on Sun 10th in Thailand? Find a bar that doesn't mind pulling the shutters down and have a night on the JD to prepare.

He's a producer, not a caterer. The chef had gone home. What's the guy supposed to do?
These people are there to make a TV show. Not pamper some sort of overgrown manchild.
My assistant producer/gofer used to get the local cafe to wrap bacon and egg rolls in tinfoil and leave them in the reception area, when we were away from base, and the shoot was late (or early). If you were assigned to arrange food, you did it, no matter what.
And as my boss said to me, your job is to get the job done, recorded and ready for broadcast on time, no matter what you need to do ...... excuses will get you sacked.
The guy got him food. Clarkson threw a tantrum because it wasn't steak.

Does anyone know what is happening at the former Club Crocodile site? Miss all the rauchy ladyboys.
At the moment nothing, was due to reopen mid Nov but as anyone can see not even started rebuilding after knocking it down.
Rumor is he cannot sell enough enough bars, due to prices that would be crazy even in the best days (which has not been for a good while) and unless he does sell some more will probably not be able to complete.
Basically Soi Gonzo all over again
Ha, well my visitors will have make do with the sanitised version at the Simon Cabaret. Its such a pity, Club Crocodile ladyboys have no competition along Bangla Road.
There's always the cabaret at Cocktails & Dreams, next to the original Tiger Plaza (on the RH side of Bangla if you're heading towards the beach). Free entry with slightly higher drinks prices to compensate. Very friendly place though the owner does tend to get (justifiably) ratty at anyone watching the show without drinking.

Got the same flight with Thai this year as last, but about £100 cheaper. Sadly the railway ticket to Heathrow and back is just as exorbitant as ever.
-
Anyone ever tried taking a travel guitar as carry-on luggage on an internal flight in Thailand? I'll probably only have a soft gig bag to carry it in, so going in the luggage hold would get it reduced to matchsticks.
Looks like there's no problem on my flight from LHR to BKK with Thai.

Visited Patong and Karon last month and was pleasantly surprised how much better the beaches are. Not as good as in the 80s before they got filled with tourist junk but still a huge improvement over last year. If the authorities did something about the litter problem and banned jet skis, I'd be well happy.

The owners claim GBP 11-billion has been spent at Heathrow since 2003
What on? I can't recall seeing any significant changes.

What are they concerned about. Wasn't it not more than a little over a week ago that they were claiming to have a cure for Ebola. Haven't heard much more on this ridiculous claim as of late.
Being tested by the WHO and the Americans as we speak!!
After that they are going to start trying to find a cure for Thaivisa-antithai-everything-venom all too common around here!
And if it's found to work fine, it'll still take a while to set up manufacturing for the stuff - in any country.
What's infaltion like in Thailand now?
