  1. What's the point of owning a drone if you don't put a camera on it?

They are a brilliant tool to use for a certain kind of sea fishing.

Clip on a spinner, spoon, lure, or even a live bait and let the drone take it out as far as you want into deep seawater. It could be anywhere between 200m to 2km, just make sure your reel has enough line.

Once the drone is in your preferred location, press a button, which releases the lure and/or bait and then press the “return to home button”.

The drone will then return to it’s take off position and land automatically.

Then, the real fun starts, by reeling in the lure/bait.

Some people have caught some huge fish using this method. Just make sure you are relatively fit/strong to be able to wind in the bait. 2km of line takes a long, long time, especially if you have hooked a big specimen.

  2. Sitting here reading the replies is interesting to say the least.
We live in a free world and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
But the animosity towards people having tattoos in this discussion is quite extraordinary.
Over the years I have worked with and employed many people with tattoos. They have all been great people, hardworking, conscientious and good fun.
I have also worked with and employed people without tattoos, again all good people.
How would people feel if the teacher teaching their child had tattoos?
How would people feel if the Nurse or Doctor treating your sick child had tattoos?
Would you not eat in a restaurant, if the waiter or waitress had tattoos?
Would you shake the hand of a Member if the Armed Forces is they had a tattoo?
If Angelina Jolie or David Beckham invited you and your family out with their family, would you decline, just because they had tattoos?
If you requested the help of a Policeman, Fireman, or Paramedic would you decline their help if you saw their tattoos??

Some people really need to take a look at themselves and wake up.

  3. Over the years there have been many people asking for advice about opening a restaurant.
Years ago, it surprised me how many Members immediately posted really negative comments. Some suggesting to literally pour whatever money you were going to invest down the drain.
Years later, the majority of the comments are still negative and totally against the opening of a new establishment.
I wonder how many of the comments are from people who actually did open a restaurant.
Yes, there are thousands of restaurants in Pattaya, Bangkok, Chang Mai and all over other parts of Thailand that have opened and within a few months closed.
But, there are also many more that have succeeded, grown and become established restaurants.
It seems that the businesses that have the owners who are involved on a daily basis succeed. If the owners switch off and leave it to their employees then disaster is not far from the horizon.

  4. I am sure you would get many volunteers if you were to arrange to rent and pay for a car to be hired from AVIS Bangkok, driven to Hat Yai and returned there.
Include a hotel in Chumpon for an overnight rest, along with expenses for dinner.
Cats delivered safely, your in charge of costs and it would give a fellow Forum Member a couple of days out of Bangers [emoji41]

  5. There is no reason to purchase a condo via a Company.
A foreign national is allowed to purchase a condo, as you do not own the land.

A small Korean restaurant would do well, if run well with English speaking staff etc.
A small American restaurant would do similarly well.
The main problem will be with Thai staff. Assuming neither of you can speak or read Thai.

But, to give you an example and hope, there is an amazing restaurant in Bangkok called the Smokin Pug. An American husband and wife team own and run the restaurant.

  6. I experienced a similar situation recently.
The BBC are getting more and more advanced with checking where their programmes are being watched.
The download section is harder to convince than the live stream section.
If you logout of the BBC iPlayer application and then log back in whilst using the VPN it sometimes works.

  7. Good afternoon everyone,

Not sure that this is the best place to post about GoPro's, so please don't shoot me.

Last week I was searching the Internet and all the online stores for some accessories for my GoPro. I came across a really helpful and knowledgeable chap called Aquapro Thailand, based in Rayong.

I was specifically after Smatree products for use whilst snorkelling and diving and he had stock of everything I needed. If I had any questions he answered them quickly and even supplied photos of all the products via Line. Even better his prices were very very competitive. So, I transferred the money to his bank account on Friday afternoon, the shipment was delivered on Sunday, all 100% correct and nothing missing or faulty.

Having lived here for many years and being let down or cheated so many times, this was a complete pleasure.

So, if anyone is after any GoPro accessories etc, contact Khun Pimlada, he will be able to help you and he is highly recommended.

    PM me for details

  8. I paid cash in both cases.

I know it sounds crazy, but I don’t remember how much either of the bills were.
All I would say is that both I and my Mother commended the dentist on her work.
This will sound super crazy, but both my Mother and I had fillings without knowing whilst we had a “wash and brush up”.
That shows how sensitive the dentist is

  9. Hi everyone,

    Apologies for the late response.

    These are the contact details:

    834 Thanon Charoen Nakhon
    Bangkok
    Khlong San 10600
    Thailand

    02-438-9139

I had 2 x fillings and and wash and brush up. My Mother had an extraction, wash and brush up and 4 x fillings.

Very very good female dentist. At first she comes across as cold and a little bit bossy. But she is really gentle and speaks and understands English.

  10. Holey Bakery?..... I thought the holy of 'holies' was to be found in the Nana Plaza.

And why is Da Roadrunner suspicious that the original post reads like an ad'?

    Good morning Daroadrunner,

Just trying to let the good people of Bangkok know about a small independent business that is very good.
I can assure you that I have nothing to do with this business (wish I did), so no, I am not advertising.

It is a shame when people’s good intentions are taken in the wrong way.

    Wishing you a wonderful day!

  11. I have recently discovered a fantastic bakery called Holey Bakery. They have 2 x branches in Bangkok, one in Suan Plu and the other in Sukhumvit 31.

They bake a vast array of breads and rolls, such as sourdough, French, etc etc.

Croissants, pastries, pies, quiches and freshly prepared sandwiches along with coffee and tea.

On my first visit I enjoyed an Americano and a wonderfully buttery croissant.

Yesterday I enjoyed a delicious slice of quiche Lorraine and a wonderful coronation chicken sandwich on sourdough. Also took home a slice of lemon drizzle cake to Mrs Tucker.

Everything I have tried so far has been excellent and I will definitely be returning to sample other delights.

Highly recommended if you are near either branch.

    Less is more!
