  1. Without many of the tips and opinions of this web site My gf and I would never have a 3 mnth visa to Aus.

There are some basic ones though and I saw several couples fail on the day we went, and I was thinking too bad they hadn't read the Thai Expat Site.

The best tips I found were.

Tip 1. Have your gf dress well for the embassy. ( I think even if your gf is not a bar gir- mine is not- they will think she is unless you can break that with a good first impression) We bought her a nice office style skirt with jacket and white shirt at MBK for about Au$25. She looked brilliant. No flip flops.

I saw a couple go up to counter 4 and she had a sleeveless top exsposing a shoulder Tat. They failed.

    2. Go with your GF and dress well yourself. (I think if you dress like your a guest at a wedding then you stand a lot better chance.)

    3. Get to know her family. Get photos with her family.Get letters from your own family to her.

    4. Build a 6 month record of transaction in her bank account..Open a joint account at a Thai Bank.

    5. Have a permanent job with proof of annual income, and some money in the bank.

    6. Write your stat dec. saying that you will pay for everything and have pre payed health insurance for her stay.

This is only my opinion. You don't have to be rich. I'm broke and I did it.

  2. Thats great about the drivers lisence.

I,ve seen the Thai Australian Assoc. web site and have been meaning to join.

I would like some more info on TGN too. How do I get this service in Perth? Who provides this service? Is it news only channel? or entertainment also?

I can find plenty of Asian supermarkets in perth, but is there one that has mainly Thai products?

    Thanks all.

  3. OK. my Fianc'e is 21 and SUAY. She was brought up in SiSaket. I think she won't have too many problems because she's so cool.

I reckon it might be hard to find green mango's and green papaya in Aus.

I have bought dozens of Thai and Western movies and Documentaries and music in Thai on Vcd. I also bought a rice cooker and a new television.

I want her to get her drivers lisence asap, but does she have to first be able to read the questions in english or What?

She might miss the latest from Thongchai, Loso, clash, hyper or Palmy.

  4. You need a letter of introduction from the Australian embassy. They will also give you a map on where to go. The office itself is at the back of one of the main buildings in the police headquarters grounds.

We went on a Thursday and were told that it would take up to 3 weeks, but my gf paid 3000b and we had it on Monday.

  5. I'm wrapped my fianc'e sucessfully got a 3 month Visa for Australia, and soon she will be on her way to live with me here for 3 months and then we both return to get married in Thailand.

She's coming on her own and I want her to have no hassless. So she has booked for a direct flight to Perth on Thai airways.

When she arrives at Perth with a 3 month visa must she have proof of money to support herself or any other documents other than her passport and visa?

I'm also concerned she may not fill out the customs entry card correctly. I know that if you over look anything or make a mistake on that card they tear you apart in the customs hall.

    Any thoughts?

  6. HUH!

I can't read Thai but I can use your info. and have my Gf read the Thai. I can speak some basic Thai and was hoping that spending a lot of time with my Thai fianc'e and her family it might just rub off.

I was thinking that if I knew the translations I could help my gf understand english and sentence structure, but I'm no teacher. Is this a bad Idea or should I just leave it up to the 500 free hours of english classes she will get when she immigrates to Aus?

    Thanks all

  7. I was thinking that it would help me teach my fiance english, and her teach me Thai If I knew the Thai words for noun, verb, adverb, adjective. Are there equivelant words in Thai?

My fianc'es english must be ok because we never have a problem talking about anything even though it may come down to charades or spot something same, same. lol.

  8. My fiance and I also had good luck getting her a 3 month visa. With the help of tips I found here from Bronco, Pat pong and company she got the visa on the first try. The embassy also suggested we make the immigration application as soon as she returns from Aus. This can only be a good sign. Thanks to all the great questions and answers of the comunity here and a visit to Erawan shrine we didn't have a problem.

  9. My fiance and I will be making our application at the end of May so I am still busy collecting what I need.

I have a few concerns, so I would like some opinions from you the ever helpful people here.

I can show a statement of $5000 in the bank. But will I have to reveal that I have 10,000 owing on my c/c.

I have an appointment this week with my local federal member of parliament, but what can they do for me? Can they give me a letter of support?

I intend to arrange a date for a marriage celebrant and location for the ceremony in Aus soon. I was thinking I would make the date for August/September this year. Is this too soon after the application? or might this speed things up.

If I get letters form her parents, family and friends about the relationship, How do I have these certified?

When they ask for 2 stat decs from aus residents that know you and your fiance, does the person have to have personally met my fiance? for example, could I have my father write a stat dec even though he has not personally met my fiance?

I am trying to make sure I have every base covered so I am also including a valuation for the engagement ring in the application. This could only help, right?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  10. :o has anyone gone through the fiance visa stream to Australia?

    Any help would be great.

I thought I would start a fresh topic for 'Thai gf 2 australia'.

    What does this mean?

"you genuinely intend to marry your fiancé(e) within nine months from the date you are granted a visa, and intend to then live with your partner as their spouse;"

    How do i prove this.

Do I see a marriage celebrant in Australia? Do I need her birth certificate?

Just to verify for myself and anyone else that is considering the same I will go through my checklist of bs. Please correct me if I miss or get anything wrong.

I have an appointment with my local member of parliament and hope to get some sort of letter of support.

    1. Her passport. done.

    2. A sponsor form. no problem

    3. Application. in English. :D no problem.

    4. proof of Earnings. I gross 60k. no savings. 10k c/card debt.

    5. Proof of relationship. (I have to work in Australia but I get there for a bout 6 weeks of the year.) i'm 35Young and shes 21. thats ok isn't it?

I have Some photos of me and her. And with her mum' brother.etc. but I usually try to avoid the lens.

I have Phone bills showing calls 4 to 5 times a week for the last 14 mnths.

I have records of money transfers for the last 6 months.

    6. I think I need 2 stat decs from Aus residents that know me and my Gf. (This is a problem. Does the person have to have met my gf. Could I have my parents or friends write stat decs that they know my gf without having met her.) also a letter from her mother, father etc no problem.

    7. Police clearance. I got my Australian police clearance but We still have to get hers. As I understand it we have to get a letter of introduction from the Aus embassy and go to the police headquaters with it and her family book and Passport photos.

8.health check and interview. oh shit. I'm terrified I'll will get a cw with pmt.

    What are my chances. :D

  11. Does anyone know anything about an intended road Through Pu Sing, SiSaket, into Cambodia. I presume it will be the more direct route to Ankhor. What I have heard is that the rd. will come through in the next 24mnths. Residents on the current rd. have been informed by local officals. Well thats how I understood it. Any info would be appreciated. My secret get away looks like becoming a tourist goat track.

  12. Theres no avoiding the water. especially if you are a farang and looking very dry and comfortable. Personally I love it. There is an icredibly intense water fight that goes all day on Soi Cowboy. But be sure your packing a good quality pump action water gun. Pattaya is one place you'll stay wet for about 10days.

  13. :o

I am wanting to attempt the impossible to have my fiancee immigrate to Australia after we are married in los at the end of the year. But, I am first going to try and get her here on a visitors visa for her to come here in July.

What help can I expect from seeing my local member of parliament?

I will be back in los in May to assist her in the application.

Should I buy her an open return ticket for her in advance of the application?

Apparently they want proof of travel insurance at the time of the application.

Do I pay her travel insurance for the time I hope to have her visit?

and can I get a refund on the insurance if the visa is declined?

I have known my fiancee for 1 year and have been contemplating the visa question for a long time. Only recently did I discover this site and am very gratefull to find so many people willing to help others in this torturous task.

Even now I feel like my head will pop from the constant worry and stress the prospect of dealing with the Australian embassy in Bangkok has created.

    Thanks again to all.
