  1. Learn Thai first, so you can communicate with them and not be the "stupid" farang.

DON'T give up your home in the states! burning old ships before you've settled is the worst thing you can do as you won't have anything to fall back on.

I would suggest you stay in Thailand for a long visit first. lets say a few months, try what life is like here and see if you actually like it.

  2. this old issue again.. just try and learn the language, then you'll get out of the lonely world where they think you're the stupid ATM and you think they're retarded.
and if its still too much, just make sure you got your private panic room ready PC-tv, Audio +mini fridge with beer..

  3. dogs killing chickens is one thing, dogs chasing motorcycles is even worse. whenever I wait at the fence when they get back they KNOW they did wrong. but they will still do it.
you can pay for the chickens your dog killed but best is just to build a good fence. just make a stone wall, if you use wire fence they can get through it by digging a bit and pushing through. unless you let the wire fence go into the ground.

specially when there is a female dog on heat you'll notice that your fence will be tested. they will do ANYTHING to get out.

I wish you luck with your dogs, specially as farang people will try to get money from you.
I've seen people who just come to collect the dog that killed their chickens or ducks and then they eat the dog. not that I would anybody do that to my dogs.

I have 2 goldens, a Lab and a mix. the first 3 are oke, but the mixed one is very hard to contain as it wasn't mine to train.

I had people complaining about my golden killing ducks. they never came with proof. later my wife saw that their ducks were OFF their land on the land of people behind our house. I've had some words with them too when they came again.
some people can be really annoying till you open your mouth and shut them up.
all silent now and all my dogs are still alive.

just don't let your dogs be a hazard on the road, if people have an accident because of your dog they will come for money for sure. specially when they know its a farangs dog.

  4. On which planet does Mr Kantiya live? I would like to read the transcripts of these interviews. A drunk policeman asking a drunk driver where he bought his liquor? The police only arrest drivers after they have caused an accident.

I agree, instead of "interviewing" the drunk, why not LOCK him up! or is that against police policy?

its not against police policy, but its kinda hypocrit to arrest a drunk driver when you're drunk yourself isn't it ^^

  5. I don't know what you're all talking about the pilot.. but thats a normal reaction for some thai..

but the point is, that there are LOADS of these lunatics driving around.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was some drug abusing retard pulling the trigger again.which of course... bought his driving licence for 500 baht or doesn't even have it..

for all who drive the Thai roads... Please stay calm when an idiot wants to pass you or whatever...you never know these days what they have been eating or if they are armed..

I almost got into such a thing myself because of such a madman's doing

  6. Nice well written interesting piece, there are actually quite a few well qualified and motivated teachers out there, but the system unfortunately rolls over them again and again...but nice to read this story..good positive .smile.gif

totally agree with you, my gf who's a teacher said the same as she came to my village.

the kids don't get the full education what they should get.

it's not always the teacher.. it can be the school limiting the teacher as well.

  7. I never imagined that food would have copyrights....

so maybe thai should go to italy and see how the italians mess up thai food.. or make some weird dish and call it thai food.

as for me... I just think like... go with the flow, we're in 2011 don't stick too much with the old uses. everything's got to evolve.

btw what going to happen if the pizza company doesn't change? war of pizza?

  8. "Even now, some large retailers such as Tesco-Lotus have voiced their complaints about the shortage. As a result, the Industry Ministry has pledged to look into the matter."

This lady(from Burma)buys trolley loads of sugar every day to bring over the border

    tesco.jpg

I've seen this so often at Udon Thani tesco lotus, they sell it in laos for 1 baht more per bag ^^ and later you'll have the 3 Kilo's per family limit again, heard that it's forbidden these days though to smuggle sugar over the border but im not sure about how true that is.

Or maybe, the "shortage" is just to try prevent the people from becoming obese.

[/url] ( very long video but it explains a lot.)
  9. I've got my honda sonic for about 4 years now and it has only driven about 7000 Km but now it seems to be having problems starting when it's cold.. it just shuts off and when it runs softly and I pull the gas it also dies... only at half choke it will stay running then it seems to need a little time warming up before I can drive..

could anything be wrong ?? or is it normal at these colder months in thailand

I already cleaned the carburator today it ran better at daytime but tonight when the cold came in it wouldn't start in 1 time again..

    Please help

    Dennis

  11. I've heard of a few accidents for example.

a man drives on a road in his pick up and a drunk motorcycle driver hits the car head on on the cars side of the road, the result is obvious the motorcycle driver is dead.

but later on the family of the dead man comes to the car driver and that to claim 200.000 bath.

he only pays 50.000 but it is not even his fault. and this is amoung THAI people in Isan.. not farang.

what is this for regulation of that payment. have any of you heard of this or experienced it? it seems so unfair that a victim of such an accident should pay for the others mistake, the motorcycle driver was drunk and drove himself dead... why does it have to go over the wallet of the survivor who was not the guilty one?

I have also talked with my gf about this, she said it has to do with moral or something with pity... i still don't really get it..

Does anybody know an answer to this?

    thank you,

    Dennis
