  1. Thanks Asinah,

Your information is much appreciated. However, it's too late for me to apply for the non-B visa as my flights are booked for Monday and the Thai embassy is closed for the weekend. Will definitely apply for it the next time round. Will you be interested in meeting up whilst I'm in Bangkok next week ? Do you do travel via an online medium only or do you have a shop as well ?

Do you know where I can find out more about the 6 Malaysian operators in Bangkok you were talking about ?

    Cheers,

    Bazz :o

  2. Hello all,

Hopefully there are some Malaysians in Thailand that can get together and exchange information and assist newbies like yours truly in settling down in Thailand be it Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai etc. Plus, guiding one another to get our occassional 'teh tarik' fix and address our 'roti canai' palates :o

Hope there are some of you out there in the LOS that can help.

  3. Hello,

This is by far the most helpful forum in Thailand ! Ok, I'm new to this as well and my first trip to Thailand was December last year and am completely blown by it's culture and people ! My japanese girlfriend started working in Bangkok in a 5 star hotel and hence that was the purpose of my visit last year. I've always avoided visiting in the past as I wasn't interested in the 'sex tourist' type of labelling but boy was I wrong as there's just so much more out there !

Ok, here's my predicament. I've recently been employed by a Malaysian 'high-end' dive travel company based in KL and my function is to research and to look into the feasibility of starting up a branch in Bangkok. I'll be visiting local businesses in Bangkok to setup a cross selling platform when I'm there on my upcoming second visit to Bangkok this coming Monday. Reason for my post is, I was told that I shouldn't do this on a tourist visa and I should apply a non-immigrant B visa here in KL before I do this. Is this true ? Will I get in trouble if I'm just 'feeling' the enviroment ? Do I need a work permit to do this if I'm starting out with a base in KL ? As all business transactions will be done via TT, would me setting up the network among businesses in Bangkok requires me to have a work permit and the non-B visa ? I'm Malaysian and would this make a difference being 'neighbours' and all ?

Your advice is much appreciated :o

  4. Sawadee Khrap !

Well, it's off to Bangkok for me this coming Monday ! I'm a Malaysian representing a travel company that's interested in joint venturing with a Thai Travel company in cross selling their products and ours around the region. Is there some general guidelines that I have to look into on setting this deal in motion and would like to know the legal guidelines in this before I commit to a Thai Operator that we have yet to identify at this very moment.

Plus, as I'll be travelling to & fro KL,(approx. 3 weeks in BKK, 1 week in KL) monthly, will I be quizzed by the Thai authorities as to my frequency of travel ? Do I need to get a working visa for my business surveying activities whilst I'm in Thailand ?

Can someone help me with the right direction for these information ?

    Khawp Khun Khrap !

    :o Bazz
