  1. I love shopping in brand new upscale department stores. I find it a pleasureable experience. In one centre I can eat in a nice restaurant, shop in upmarket shops and enjoy the movies in brand new cinemas, all under one roof. Until Central came along we didn't have that opportunity.

I had no idea you could find anything from Central on the upper floors of Mike Shopping Mall, but quite honestly, I detest Mike Shopping Mall with a passion and they only have pretend air conditioning in there. The only reason it's there is because once upon a time before normal shopping centres were built (Big C, Tescos etc) they were the only game in town. It's long overdue for demolition...it's an eyesore.

Shopping in Central also gives you a sense of civilisation (until you venture back outside again) Agree about Mikes being an eyesore, looking at it from Kiss restaruant it looks so dated and crummy.

  2. Just go to show you cant believe everything you see in films. A 20cm cut is 8 inches which is a pretty big cut across the throat. In every film I have ever watched this results in instant death (usually silently which is why the guy didnt use a gun). So if you intend to murder someone at least do your homework on Wikipedia or something. Incidentally there is another interesting piece of advice contained within these reports. If you receive constant death threats (I would assume more than one) in any given day you are best advised to call the police for assistance.

And on this second bit of advice I speak from some experience.

LOL ive heard it all now thanks for the laugh.

  3. I just wanted to ask if anyone knows if he is back in england already, alone and broke I mean.

    good question..

but according to what appears to his/her website that i've found here

they seem to now be in the 'hilltribe homestay' tourism business...

Haha good find. They certainly will know about this thread now.

  4. A roller coaster ride of mixed emotions from both the father and son. The son grew into quite a nice fella IMO he came across as a really pleasant and down to earth bloke, good on him. Sometimes men can love someone very very much but just don't know how to put it into words or actions due to the way they was bought up as a child. This was apparent with the old man and i wish he could of done/said more to ease the pain that his son was in. As for the marriage.... no comment. Nice Doc thanks for sharing.

  5. My wife worked in the Poppy bar in Pattaya. we have been married for 25years it has worked for me

Because you have lot's of money! But regardless of that, what does she get upto when you're not around? Do you follow her everywhere? If I got myself in your situation I would.

If you said that to me face to face and I had been married for 25 years to someone you wouldn't have a face.

  6. Married a bg never married a bg it makes no difference to me I judge people by their character when meeting them I don't look up or down to anyone I'm on a level that's the way I am. But what really does get to me is the many many farang who did marry a bg and bullshit that they meet them working in a hotel, restaurant etc you know the usual complete <deleted> that in my opinion is worse then the stigma that is attached to marrying a bg. Another all time classic is my gf/wife was educated in England, yeah sure she was, she was more then likely married before, went to live in England realised how much of a shit hole it is and that her husband isn't some big time millionaire but lives in a council flat and hasn't got a pott to piss in so flew back to Thailand as soon as possible.

  7. Oh come on john d, this isnt a black and white case, it sounds like they sold the house and she did a runner with the money and his/their daughter, imagine it was you, ( ok never would never be i know,) but, imagine .if it was me id be broken hearted to be away from my daughter as much as my wife, who knows what frame of mind hes in, at least there wasnt a balcony involved,. , :)

Marriage break ups can destroy the hardest of them. I hope he sorts himself out, I know what it feels like to have a family one minute and not the next, you just cant get your head around it.

  8. My first Thai girlfriend spoke very little English and with my limited Thai it was a nightmare for example a simple where the door key was went something like this.......Where key me? Key you? Yeah key me where? Key you there, oh key there thanks. Thankfully the girl I'm with now is fluent in English and my Thai is a little better so communication isn't such a headache!

  9. I was looking into hiring support for my E-Commerce site from the Philippines. A good educated worker for my purposes (writing, link building, customer support) will cost me about $600-$700 a month.

Link building is for artificially gaming a search engines organic results. It is an art that takes years to perfect without having to resort to blog, directory or reciprocal spam as that is all it is spam and doesn't say much about your online business to Google for example. Hiring a 'link monkey" on the cheap as that is what you are implying will do nothing for your online business's search results unless you continually monitor them which is defeating the whole object.

  10. That's what I like about Pattaya your spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out you really are. Theres no need to put up with shabby service theres plenty of other places crying out for your money. Service with a smile the only way to run a business, it goes a million miles when the staff welcome you when you enter, smile when taking your order and serve you.

  11. I think we need to rule out any personal matter first- I mean when I'm on the bus I'd rather a nutter not sit next to me. Perhaps rightly or wrongly these people sense the same thing. So what is it? dressed up as a clown, wearing a suit with bright orange trainers and a policeman's hat, no clothes at all, puke stained shirt front, or singing 'Tulips from Amsterdam' with a bottle of whisky in your hand. Pray tell.

    Sandals and socks

  12. I only go because I get an attractive " benefit " in another way for doing so although I'm not going to mention what is because I would

    give the game away :)

:D you hook up with the girls who take your details as well :D some lookers i'll give you that :D

good thinking, so you go 50/50 with the payment the girl gets for taking you there?

No one half decent would do that -take salary money from a Thai :D

in any case they only get peanuts

The going rate for a good 'up' (lead) was about 50 pound sterling that was way back in 1989 in Tenerife, dont know what it is in this day and age and in Asia, not bad money back then if they was getting 20 a week in.

  13. Yes the whole of Pattaya is a ghost town right now, as for LK Legend very nice complex on 10 Rai of land, part hotel part residential boasting a lagoon swimming pool, fitness club, International restaurant and bar, club house, bakery, sauna, room service, maid service, wifi, ample parking over and underground, it is very nice IMO well worth a look.

  14. It's the face thing again........someone pushes in, staff serve them first as pointing out theres someone next in the que will cause loss of face to that customer and possible confrontation which they try to avoid. You either put up with it or you don't let it happen by pointing out that you are next not them.
