  1. I got a Thai friend with diabetes, i suggested that she stop piling sugar on everything. She said that the doctor told her it was ok to keep eating lots sugar as long as she takes the drugs he sells her.

sister of my wife has about the same problem....suggesting to reduce white rice was an absolute shocking idea....better take drugs than reduce on carbs.

They teach that Diabetes2 is irreversible. It is not. Cut the carbs, eat more healthy fats and most people will return to a normal stage your body can handle. Oh, but the healthy fats will cause a high cholesterol!!!! Well, that's a sales trick they teach "health care providers" to get you onto statin drugs. Don't believe me, study the subject and you will see. Well, that's western disease management instead of health care.

  2. It's sugar stupid! The coca-colonisation of the population. Too many sugary drinks (try buying sugar free sodas), too much sugar used in cooking, sugar in bread, etcetc.

No. 'Sugar-free' sodas have aspartame or fructose corn syrup. The rise in diabetes and epidemic of obesity follows the introduction of these toxic chemicals. Now difficult to avoid them.

fructose corn syrup is sugar....so a sugar free something has no fructose.

Aspartame is for sure more healthy than sugar...but I don't get why people need so much sweet. Buy soda water instead and squeeze a lemon in it....

    It's the size that matters!

  3. The 1933 Farmer's Cyclopedia of Livestock.

    Quote:

"Skim milk is one of the most valuable adjuncts of the farm for fattening swine. Used with corn, kafir corn or any of the common grain by-products an almost ideal ration is formed. Hogs like it and relish rations mixed with it. As a re- sult of five years' work in feeding skim milk at the New York station at Cornell, it is concluded that the most economical returns are secured when the milk is fed with corn meal. "

    Any idea what this means?

  4. "He blamed obesity as the major cause of diabetes"

No wonder, he's not going to tell you it is the sugar in the diet. Processed carbohydrates lead to insuline resistance which will make you fat. Diabetes type 2 will follow because of the insuline resistance of your body. IOW, you are now carbohydrate intolerant. It can be reversed but not if they look at it this way. Cut the carbs, eat more healthy fats!

Go have a look at every Thai school. Sugar Rules!

  5. ON RAPPOPORT: In 2009, you spearheaded coverage of the so-called Swine Flu pandemic. You discovered that, in the summer of 2009, the Centers for Disease Control, ignoring their federal mandate, stopped counting Swine Flu cases in America. Yet they continued to stir up fear about the “pandemic,” without having any real measure of its impact. Wasn’t that another investigation of yours that was shut down? Wasn’t there more to find out?

SHARYL ATTKISSON: The implications of the story were even worse than that. We discovered through our FOI efforts that before the CDC mysteriously stopped counting Swine Flu cases, they had learned that almost none of the cases they had counted as Swine Flu was, in fact, Swine Flu or any sort of flu at all! The interest in the story from one executive was very enthusiastic. He said it was “the most original story” he’d seen on the whole Swine Flu epidemic. But others pushed to stop it and, in the end, no broadcast wanted to touch it. We aired numerous stories pumping up the idea of an epidemic, but not the one that would shed original, new light on all the hype. It was fair, accurate, legally approved and a heck of a story. With the CDC keeping the true Swine Flu stats secret, it meant that many in the public took and gave their children an experimental vaccine that may not have been necessary.

  6. The average temperature in 2013 was 58.3 degrees Fahrenheit (14.6 Celsius), which is 1.1 F (0.6 C) warmer than the mid-20th century baseline. The average global temperature has risen about 1.4 degrees F (0.8 C) since 1880, according to the new analysis. Exact rankings for individual years are sensitive to data inputs and analysis methods.

Scientists emphasize that weather patterns always will cause fluctuations in average temperatures from year to year, but the continued increases in greenhouse gas levels in Earth's atmosphere are driving a long-term rise in global temperatures. Each successive year will not necessarily be warmer than the year before, but with the current level of greenhouse gas emissions, scientists expect each successive decade to be warmer than the previous."

This is all still a short term trend. Go back several hundred years and you can find long periods of much warmer weather and long periods of much cooler weather.

First you denialists say "no warming since 1998!" and then all of sudden "that is all still a short term trend, you should look at many centuries"! But not the last one, right? Contradicting your own statements. That is so typical for denialists. Switching time periods at will and spot weather statistics, "It was very cold in New York last month, the climate change is a big hoax!".

What matters in science is the published peer reviewed papers, not what somebody says in his blog. Those scientific papers overwhelmingly (99.5 percent or more) support the climate change models. If there were still conflicting facts about the climate change out there, somebody would have already written a paper about it, proving with facts that these models are wrong. Then gotten more and more support eventually but no such paper exists.

Here you go, peer reviewed: http://www.co2science.org/articles/V16/N50/EDIT.php

"Thus, as we have long contended, and on the basis of real-world data (properly analyzed), Kullman's analysis of tree-line data, along with the results of the many other studies he cites, jointly provide yet another strong amalgamation of evidence that supports the view that there is nothing unusual, unnatural or unprecedented about earth's current level of warmth."

Its called scientific inertia. The people involved in the climate panic debate have to toe the line or loose funding. Within the scientific community 25 years ago 99% would have agreed the unviverse is expanding at a constant rate and that expansion is likely slowing down. If you had said then that the expansion of the universe is accelerating and that 80% of the mass and energy is missing you would have been labled a fool.

    Consensus does not equal fact

Glad to see somebody gets it. In the 70's it was global cooling...

  8. That's because of Global Warming!

Record cold temperatures around the world won't stop the global warming industry with their dire predictions.

The planet Venus is an extreme example of the greenhouse effect. The wind speeds there are 300-400 km/h. We are going to get more extreme winds because the warming widens the differences in air pressure areas.

Than you sure have an explanation for this?

    Rank Year ACE Index 1. 2005 250 2. 1950 243 3. 1893 231 4. 1995 228 5. 2004 227 6. 1926 222 7. 1933 213 8. 1961 205 9. 1955 199 10. 1998 182

  9. I live in a mountainous area. I have been here for 10 years. The tree line is slowly moving up the mountain due to encroachment. This year there was a lot of wind when they lit the while mountainside. A lot of trees have been damaged. Where I live is a mayor watershed area. A few years ago PTT invested millions of baht for new trees. The forester who initiated the project took good care. For the first three years he had people watching the area during the burning season. Then he moved and the project was taken over by a new forester. I was told, he didn't want to spend any money on this project. The year after fires went through the young trees. Many died, few remained. This year they finished the job and most of the trees are gone. And this is a major watershed area. The people who burn these mountains also use the water for their garlic and potatoes.

Why do they burn? For personal gain. Some say it keeps the forest from being burned by lightning before the rainy season starts but I've heard mushroom picking, hunting and livestock as the main motive. So when did all go well? A man from this village was sitting on the road every day. Watching the forrest. He was taking care nobody would go in the forrest to burn it. And nobody did. A local was involved. Also, the main culprits were paid off. The headman knows who is burning these woods. The main reason things went wrong is that money flowed into peoples pocket, the new forester, instead of where it should go: maintaining the forests.

Moving 2 million people? Where? I have seen this village grow from bamboo huts to nice houses. People worked hard. Do they want to move it all? Yeah, we live in teak houses. We live in the forest and cutting a tree for a house doesn't damage the forest. You have to get the people who live in these forests involved. They know the forest and they could maintain them. Pay them to keep it lush. Make it their living.

  10. Cold? In Thailand? In January?

I do believe we do not speak about the same thing, the same country and the same season.

If temperature drop of 1 Celsius, that is not cold by any standart, and no one can die of that if in normal health (read without under heavy alcohol; body burn by alcohol or drugs ...). I did witness temperature dropping of 25 celsius in 48 hours .... in Europe, in a very specific place famous for it (6 jully 1980 + 26 celsius; 8 jully 1980 -1 celsius ... the place is named Pontarlier)

Thailand is a tropical country (sorry if I am wrong); so temperature are NEVER EVER cold. Cold is temperture below -20 celsius (I played Rugby by -18 celsius); Cold is - 40 celsius during the night (Stage commando with sleeping out side in february 1986 , place named Les Rousses).

That is B.S.; bad journalism, or maybe another way to justify this or that ....

Cold in thailand, is it another hub (winter sport hub for saoudi????????????????)

Haha, you have no idea what you are talking about! Come to the mountains in Mae Hong Son and freeze your arse off!

  11. I'm really jealous of the speeds that so many people are getting.

This is a test to London at 6AM

Wouldn't you love a connection like this?

I believe that it is multiple issues affecting my connection. Software corruption is one of them.

earlier I opened Mobilink Lite and just got "Searching for Network"

After a scan and repair with Advanced Systemcare, I was able to connect.

Often when I start, the signal shows as EVDO rev A, and sticks on "Authenticating" or as soon as it connects, the signal changes to 1XRTT.

It's better than it was, but up and down all the time. I think that I will dust off the old laptop and try out the dongle in different locations. That way, I may be able to pinpoint if there is a problem with my desktop, the dongle or my local tower.

TL. I understand from another thread that the MC727 doesn't work with windows 7. As you've been able to solve this problem, I'd appreciate it if you could share your research with us :)

Maybe you should go to the CAT office and ask them to reset the tower.. It worked for me!

    Greetings

  12. It looks like the problem I had before has been solved. I went to the CAT office in Pai today and they checked the modem. After "resetting" the modem the results were still the same. The guy left his office and I played around a bit with the speedtest. I saw the connection go to zero bars. A little later he came back and said he had asked Chiang Mai to reset the towers between Pai and Mae Hong Son. Since I got back, I got similar results as here below without the ups and downs I had before. Don't they check every now an then? Anyway, you experience the same ups and downs, call CAT and ask them to reset the tower!

  13. hello all

I have been using a Novotel MC760 now for around two months with no problems

I am very impressed and suprised at how good it is,to be honest.

The thing I have noticed in the last few days is sometimes a web page loads blank but hitting

enter brings the page up.I have a tower very close and they have told me I am the only one on it.(Im in the middle of nowhere)with a signal strength of -70ish

The people who are having problems,is it actually disconnecting for you?

    cheers HH

I have the same thing using google chrome. Webpages open blank or display a message that I am non connected. Then, after reloading it does come up. I get disconnected lately, although not often. Internet is either deadslow or very fast up to 2Mb/s. But at the moment I am stuck with this: 685055257.png

And then a minute later it is this:

    685055856.png

Going to this again a few minutes later:

    685056776.png

I haven't contacted CAT yet. I wonder what excuse they come up with. My connection has been great for the last few months, but the last few weeks it's with ups and downs.

  14. you are using a test model that will provide altered results. The only possible way to really test CDMA is with a unit that will allow for consideration of the multi signal tec. It is sort of like testing and apples for sugar content using a test that deletes that adverse affect of high acid content in an orange. Look, everyplace in the world is plagued with porting numbers from GSM to CDMA and visa versa techs due to the differance in load and tech methiod. One of the issues here is time passing thru the switch, the normal GSM ping isn't recogninzed by the switch issues using CDMA. To clear the air in a non tech way let me just point out that the government has now given another 90 days for all carriers to move to porting all number GSM v CDMA. It won't be enough as the only people who know about this are really in military areans. Blackberry will be a total clusters F#$% and wait till they try to pass SMS over the ported system. It will be even worse for those who move to CDMA in BKK area and get a "send me money now message" from Issan. Who knows, possibly people will be jumjping of the Siam BTS station due to failed love when it was merely an incompatable 3e switch that hasn't been modified or is of an older non US version that needs a total rebuild to handle the volume of CDMA. Remember that SMS eats more bandwith but CDMA is designed specifically to allow for better service! If anybody knows the issues with alot of start up mobile companies in the U.S. they are renting 3E switch time from AT&T who were basically put out of the land line/long distance business by GSM.. Ha Ha, now people build a system that relys on broad band tec. If you missed all this stuff here is what I told some U.S. Congressman who can't do e-mail. You just built a very high speed mass transit system but it requires the tires to be changed every 10 min.

Me, I'm using a Moto V3i, made for Thailand, Dtac GSM. When Thailand goes to all CDMA ( Thaksins daughter will be PM then, If I'm not dead I'll just flash my mobile, copy the simm card so I have both GSM card and CDMA mobile so I can call on whatever system is working that day in that region. BTW, if you don;t know that CDMA

doesn;t used simm cards go to Issa and get married to the first girl waiting for a bus to Bangkok!

If you think this is not alot of help you should have converted a few US based networks to interface with two different animals. BTW, you can forget about sending pics for a long time... such small files will onlyh work you can't even see your tilac shaved! One more thing.... I don;t care what anybody days the CDMA works alot better with its own tower. Now I vote CAT at the mobile for the future cause they have lots of towers for their CDMA Net, which I love. BTW, If someone will get me the code for the CAT CDMA phone I have some blackberry phones from a few U.S. based CDMA op companies that I could convert in about 30 min! You all do now that the manuactures set the phones and there isn't anything to unlock like GSM.

And please use caps CDMA. It is four seperate words!

    What??

    Indeed!

  15. My wife received a call from CAT yesterday regarding my EVDO complaints. They told her that the tower in our area is working very well and to take my EVDO modem to the office in Loei to be checked out. I'm in Jomtien right now so that will have to wait until I get back home.

I wouldn't be surprised if they want me to buy a new modem. I have no idea if it is under warranty or not.

I don't think it has anything to do with your modem0. I would like to know howmany people with a landline experience the same slow downs or stalls like we have using CAT CDMA. I was at a friends house 2 days ago. He is using a TOT landline and he has the same slowdowns as I've been having for the last week.

First I thought CAT's CDMA was getting faster as I got great results sometime, but lately for example, IDM (internet download manager) runs normalluy at a spead around 225 KB/s. It's running at that speed now but a few minutes ago it went down to 4 KB/s. It has been very stable for the last few months but lately it has been poor. The speed varies a lot. I do stay connected. I am in a rural area. Just a few people use this tower. I think the problem is somewhere in Bangkok. As usual.

I didn't mean to get you angry.... Speed's up so you can send lot's of love to Isaan... And I do have my own tower, by the way. Kiewlom, Pangmapha. Kind regards

  17. I have noticed that every monday CAT CDMA is performing very badly. Then, later in the day, the speed is up from before. The latest result:

    678791598.png.

    678799120.png

I did notice that sometimes the test didn't work. I have been pretty happy with CAT CDMA the last few months...

  18. Is there a place where I can get this in Chiang Mai is well? I've seen places at Fortune IT Mall selling them but not in Chiang Mai yet.

I bought one a year ago at Pantip PLaza in Chiang Mai. It has no wireless, but maybe they have a newer model by now. Payed 5000 Bath and even if I have to move the HD from my computer to the TV, it is a wonderful gadget. We wacht tons of movies all from Rapidshare.
