Passed through the tiny peninsula of Udon Thani yesterday on my bicycle ride. Three provinces in one day, Kalasin, Udon and Sakhon Nakhon. Sore as hell now but enjoyed myself. Noticed a big weather difference between the Kham Muang (North Kalasin) and Sakon Nakhon side of the Phu Phan range. Beautiful area and even though those hills were killers on the way up, they were fantastic on the way down.

I'm not saying that I'm too competitive - however...

    I couldn't let GarryP's post go unanswered. ☺️ ????

One of the great things about Issan is the general lack of hills - just over 1m of climbing for every horizontal kilometre.

Qatar was recommended to me as a good airline for pet transport.

You need to advise separately that you have animals to travel with you and of course, there will be an additional charge.  They can go on another flight but I preferred to travel on the same plane.

I used them when coming to Thailand from Saudi Arabia which included a stopover and change of aircraft.  Everything went smoothly and I have no complaints with their service.

I was hoping for an option to take him in the cabin with me but that wasn't possible at the time,

The paperwork was all done via an agent so not sure if a similar service exists in Thailand or the UK.

I would always opt for two dogs, so they can form a tag-team which is very useful when dealing with snakes and other interlopers. Also, they keep each other company.

Here are my two: Leo & Chang

The one thing better than two dogs is....

    four dogs ????

I took a friend's remains to the UK.

Went as checked-in luggage rather than carry on.

No problem leaving Thailand and did not declare anything.

Same with arrival - went through x-ray machine but nothing flagged.

Did not take any documentation or embassy letters.

  5. A friend of mine paid 'private' rates at a government hospital.

His operation was about three months ago.

All in, it cost  ฿100 000.

He was back on the golf course after three weeks of recovery.

Looks like a group ride is not possible as we're all just a little too far away from each other.  ????

I tour the rice paddies in Roi Et province and sometimes make it over the Kalasin and Maha Sarakam borders.

I aim for 1000km each month.

The worst part about the sandy soil is that the fine dust finds its way into the various bike mechanisms and is a pain to clean.

    Otherwise, happy riding...

You need to have registered on the 'expat consular' website.

Those aged 60 and over or with pre-existing health issues are given priority.

I met neither of these conditions but eventually made it to the front of the virtual queue.

The vaccinations are free as they are sourced from the US/UK batch of donated vaccines.

I will receive my second Pfizer jab on Oct 11th.

Maybe somebody from Roi Et will give you a answer to your question.

Most offices don't require witnesses when you apply and only want them when they do a home visit.

I'm on my 8th marriage extension from the Roi Et office.

I had a home visit only for the first extension application.

However, as is the norm in Thailand, what happened previously is no indication of what might happen in the future, even under identical circumstances.  ????

They keep suggesting that I should convert to a retirement extension as it means less paperwork for them to complete and send off to Korat for approval - alas, I'm still too young.  ????
