  1. Easy way to do.

get out the Thai yellow pages.Call at least three customs brokers/freight forwarders.Ask them for quotes and requirements.Another way would be to call a freight company from your own country.Tell them you want a FIS (Free into Store) price for xyz to a location in Thailand etc and get them to breakdown all charges.

You will also need a Customs card.

or, you can PM Axel, he will probably have all the info at his finger tips as he is in the biz. :o

Thanks for all your replies guys

Im pretty well advanced in getting this sorted and have done most of the paperwork

  2. Hi,

Can you tell me if these Nespresso or Krups machine using coffee pods are now available in Bangkok ?

Where and how much ? Are machines cheaper in Europe or US ?

    Thanks a lot (of coffee)

    :-)

I emailed nespresso last year in September and was told that setup was imminent in Thailand and should be in place by the end of the year. They were just finalising the distribution network. This did not happen. I emailed again in late December and got a reply that said they had no idea when they would be operational in Thailand. Clearly they have encountered some difficulties but I don't know what they might be. They suggested ordering from Swizerland in the meantime via the website.

"Thank you for your enquiry, and your interest in Nespresso. We are glad to learn that you are one of our loyal customers.

Nespresso owns and operates its boutiques or business models, from the initial production to the distribution to end consumers. Therefore, we regret to inform you that there will be no franchise system within Nespresso, at least until this moment or for more years to come in the future. We will have 120 boutiques around the world by the end of this year and all are fully owned by Nespresso.

We are in fact in the process of finalizing our delivery system to reach nation wide customers within Thailand, to enable Nespresso fans to enjoy the convenience of home delivery."

I don't have a copy of the other response but hopefully it will be very soon that they can get setup.

  3. Yes, the smaller size is cut from a larger mold. We do not hide this fact as it has NOTHING to due with the firmness of the mattress, nor the life span. You do not know what you are talking about.

The mattresses that my wife sells are medium firmness. 85 is the number I think. Feel free to email her to get the exact specs, she has nothing to hide. If she does not know the answer, she will consult the factory and find out.

But posting incorrect information in a weak attempt to hurt her is silly and sad. She has had hundreds of happy customers and many bought 2nd and 3rds from her, because she does sell a quality product for a good price.

If you disagree, then dont buy from her. But dont slander her product with lies.

I think its kinda funny that you are running her business, not her. She can't reply? Actually I have no reason to slander or tell lies as you put it. I know about latex because I have researched the product before. I also know that a single mold produces a firmer, more long lasting mattress. Cutting the latex is done to save money pure and simple. I am sure the mattress will still last a long time as I stated, but it is not the top quality you claim if you are cutting it. that was the point I was trying to make. I am happy for you, I mean your wife, for having such a successful business. most people would not know about the cutting issue, as a forum for providing information, that is what I am doing. Its ok for you to promote your wife's business for free on this forum but you have to take the good with the bad.

Hey man, not trying to slander anyone - I know this to be true of latex. If you cut it it is not as good as forming a single mold. Feel free to talk to other companies that manufacture latex to confirm if you wish. I have nothing to gain by writing some comments about the product, I just take exception to someone saying they have the best quality when in this case is simply cannot be. As I said the mattress will likely last a long time but not as long as one made from a single mold and the cut latex is softer when cut like that. Its the facts of latex.

  5. I saw some latex toppers at Peenang mattress for approx. 1500 BT (2ins).

They were imported from Belgium. Didn't know they produced rubber in Belgium

Is it a byproduct of the chocolate manufacturing. Sorry only joking, but seriously it seems a bit odd.

haha probably not natural latex for that price. If you look around you can see some places charging crazy prices. Department store will be 20,000 for a queen size 3" for sure. Some places in Pattaya charge similar. They are making big profits. i guess the reality is people only buy one - any furniture store will charge a lot for a bed because they need a big shop to store them and don't really get repeat business. I just got a queen size 3 inch in Bkk from an independent seller who knows someone at the factory and gets good prices for great quality. I paid 10,000 and it is good quality. I have bought them before in other countries so I know what to look for. Also did the Belgian one have the soft cover or the sewn in type? I have seen those toppers before and they aren't very good. With the soft cover the mattress can bend to your body shape, with the other type its not much better than the crappy hard beds they have all over Thailand.

  6. Actually, her full name is right there, above her nick name.

    Always has been.

    http://www.latexinno...ns/Contact.html

I checked out that website a while back and although tempted to go for one what put me off is that the website gives no details whatsoever of who's running the show, except for a name of some woman who describes herself as Mam, an email address and a mobile phone number.

What happens if customer has problems with the goods or needs to exchange anything?

What comebacks do we have if the goods a faulty? Especially with not knowing who is running the outfit.

I'm not willing to risk my thousands of bahts on a company that only gives limited information about its self.

Here is another point to back up your comment. I checked the latex innovation website. there is a photo on the site that shows they are using cut latex. There should always be a "skin" on the topper if it has been formed from a single mold. Most people would not know this. The result of cutting the latex is a softer mattress that will not last as long. Anyone who has bought from them can check by just opening the cover. If there is a roughness to the latex then its been cut. Its a good way to keep the prices low. here is the link http://www.latexinnovations.com/Latex_Innovations/Features.html although I am sure they will change the picture when they see they got caught out. Its at the bottom of the page where you can see the close up photo. I am sure the mattress will still last many years but its not the best quality as they claim.

  7. Why carry that kind of cash anyway?

As Jingthing suggested, open a bank account here - very easy to do on just about any kind of visa - and have someone SWIFT the money to it for you.

Carry only the amount of cash you'll need for maybe a week.

    Safest, and most efficient.

Yep, and better still, if you have web access to your account, SWIFT it to your newly-acquired Thai account, easy peasy. You guys must be nuts carrying through such dosh, whether it's a small amount to you or not.

You get a much better exchange rate bringing cash into Thailand , no rip off swift fees or balls ups saying you wanted to send £ and then the UK bank converting it to Thai baht by mistake before they send it (oh really) I often bring cash.

I did some research today - there is a company called Super Rich in bkk and the rate in AUD was 29.2 baht - the bank rates in australia were around 26 baht - for 10 k that is saving of a thousand dollars - its not chump change. I will bring the cash and throw it in the bank after I visit Super Rich.

  8. There is a trick I have used and it works sometimes. You can put the drive in a plastic container and put it in the freezer for a day. Take it out and let it go back to room temperature on its own and then try it again. This usually works if you can hear the hard drive clicking. It won't fix all the errors but its worth a try.

  9. I saw an ad in the Pattaya Mail for teeth whitening in a clininc on the 4th floor of Central, beach road. Summer promotion is 3900 baht, which is substantially cheaper than any offer I have seen before.

Went to talk with them and they said they are using "cool light" for the whitening process, which takes about an hour. The procedure has to be repeated once a year.

I have heard that some of these procedures can make your teeth very sensitive. Anyone out there with experience re. teeth whitening?

I can't comment on the price but I have used some teeth whitening products and they did indeed cause some pain in my teeth. I can't tell you the brand type but if you are prone to sensitivity be ready for the discomfort - maybe take a couple of aspirin before you go in.

  10. givr it back it does not belong to you you have stolen something that does not belong to you.....money cannot buy life money cannot buy happiness it can only provide misery and sometimes failure and eventually D E A T H my daughter worked for westpac she did the same thing here in melbourne I also come from nz and my home town is rotorua so I think they should give it back

I think they should keep it and have a great time with it - rock on!!!!!

  11. I have heard from many people that claim to have opened a bank account with no more than a passport. I have heard the passport and a letter from the embassy. I got denied at Siam Commercial Bank in the mall with a current non O visa, a letter of employment (not in thailand), Thai drivers license, a letter from the embassy, and my wife standing there with her account book from that bank. I have come to the conclusion that it is only the branch you go to as to weather they will give you an account or not. It has been about 2 years since I tried last. I am coming home in a couple of weeks and want to try again. Can everyone who has a bank account in BKK please leave me some info so I can make a list of places to try.

    1) Branch name and location that let you open the account.

    2) What documentation you had to provide to open the account.

    Thanks guys,

    Bernie

I opened a joint account at K bank on suhkumvit 77 up from on nut bts with my tourist visa and with my wife - we just showed up with my passport and married cert and all was ok - it definitely helps when they like you. I think they thought we were a cute couple haha. I put 20,000 baht or so - took an hour or so. the weirdest thing for me was they charge you for the debit cards. I think it was 300 baht per card. I got really good service at that branch though.

  12. It depends on what you look like as a couple to be honest. If you are fat, bald, have a comb-over, and are wearing 3/4 length pants and a brown t-shirt, and your girlfriend is wearing illuminous pink hello kitty clothes and a skirt which could be mistaken for a belt, then yes I can imagine you would look like a sad old man with a hooker.

However, if you are both dressed smartly and you are healthy, then you will probably look like a good couple and people will be thinking you both have got it sorted.

Also note: you can usually spot a happy couple a mile off because they are few and far between, next time you are out, look for yourself, look at the Thai ladies with the older men, they look uninterested, bored as fuc_k and have a face like a slapped arse.

haha that was so well put. I am 42 in really good shape my wife is 23 but we rock man - I am sure a few people hate me when I walk around with her but who cares. The funniest thing was up in Chiang Mai at a coffee shop I was with my wife and two of her friends (who have Thai bf but weren't with us at the time), her friends are also really hot and every foreign guy thought I was a god and all the foreign chicks thought I was an asshol_e I am sure. what ever...... other thai girls usually look jealous but if you are a cool couple people in general are jealous - most people I think know you are a cool couple by the way you interact - I have seen so many fat bald losers with thai gf or wife who just sit there never say anything - its pathetic. The one thing that does bug me is all the fat white chicks who look at you like you just took a dump on thier couch - maybe if they lost some of that fat we would date them but I doubt it haha

  13. Main lesson was that for subsequent tourist visas the department considers that the TGF should spend a reasonable time in her home country. This is contrary to what I have read on this board before which was that you could apply for a second tourist visa as soon as she lands back in Thailand.

This would go completely against all logic about tourist/visit visas. They are for people to visit a country for a short period of time. There is a guideline in the UK that a person should not spend more than 6 months in any 12 month period in the UK on visit visas. If they are spending more than this in the UK, then they may no longer be classed as a visitor and may be living in the UK without applying for a settlement visa. I suspect all English speaking countries have roughly the same kind of reasoning behind most of their visas. If you think about it, She goes to Aus for 3 months, comes back and straight away applies for another visit visa, comes back from Aus again and applies straight away, what does that say to anyone?? It says that this person is living in Aus by the backdoor and should really be applying for a more permanent visa.

I thnk there are plenty of situations where someone would want a longer visa without all the hassles of a spouse sponsorship. A chance to evaluate the country, lets be honest who really wants to live in australia haha, the only reason I came back was to work and figure out a game plan to go back and have some kind of income so if i had to work for 6 -12 months I would want my wife with me of course - she doenst have to work but being apart for more than a few months is just stupid - what kind of relationship is that. The spouse visa is so convoluted and intrusive. I like the thai way much better - they dont question the paper work once you have it. The govt is taking on too much by questioning peoples relationships and not once in my wifes visa application did someone pick up the phone and call me...its not like long distance costs anything these days. They make arbitrary decicisons without all the mitigating facts. Its just another reason to leave western culture behind....

  14. isn't this all ass backwards anyway - doesn't being married or having a relationship mean anything? I am married to a Thai and we lived together in bkk and have joint bank accounts and they are still giving us grief. They are telling my wife to write a letter why she wants to visit me <deleted> - isn't it obvious - man I hate the govt and their BS double standards. Seems like being a citizen means nothing - and since when is the government the relationship police.
