  1. My concern is bringing USD into Thailand from my USA savings account because of the new taxing of foreign money coming into a Thai bank account regulation that started January, 2024, i.e., paying taxes in 2025 for money transferred into Thailand during 2024.  I am a Thai tax resident, and as I work in Thailand, I do file a Thai tax return every year.  The money in my USA savings account was already previously taxed in the USA because it was money I earned in the USA over a period of years.

But as no one seems to know -- including myself -- what this new regulation (or new interpretation of an old regulation) from the Thai RD really means, again, I'm leery of transferring any USD into Thailand.  But, perhaps, I'm missing the boat somewhere.

  2. Strictly screen [Chinese] entering and leaving the Kingdom. This includes the consideration of applications for extensions of stay, visa stamping, and changes in visa status. All relevant laws, regulations, and orders must be strictly follow
Investigate and prosecute all crimes committed by [Chinese]. This includes violations of the Immigration Act, the Alien Employment Act, the Entertainment Places Act, illegal business operations, nominee arrangements where Thai nationals hold shares or real estate ownership on behalf of [Chinese] to avoid legal compliance. The behavior of [Chinese] should also be investigated to determine if they have any mafia-like influence. Cooperation with relevant agencies is required for integrated law enforcement.
Revoke the stay permits of [Chinese] who are found to be staying in the Kingdom without a legitimate reason or who have other behaviors that warrant the revocation of their permits. This should be done in accordance with the Immigration Act.

I sent my scooter and boxes with the Thailand post from Bangkok to Phuket, it was the cheapest option couple of years back. I had to keep the tank nearly empty as a precaution and when I'm arrived to Phuket I was able to pick it up in the post office easily.

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, I have shipped scooters before in Thailand via the postal service, but since I need to move other stuff as well (as mentioned in my original post), I'm looking for a moving company.  That said, I have found a moving company since I posted my original post.  Thanks again for your reply.

  5. I just received a Click 125i from Nat Motors.  I had to pre-order it.  It took about 1 month to arrive.  I like Nat Motors for purchasing bikes (I have purchased 3 from them over the years).  Can't say I am always satisfied with their service team though.  Sales has always been good for me.  Be aware: the new Honda Click 125i has a slightly smaller frame this year than previous yrs.  Still, I like the one I bought.  It's a bit quicker than my previous Clicks (125 cc), including any I have rented before.  And, I can get up to around 106 kilometers/hour on it.

I had the 125I for 3 years never had a problem.... changed to 160I 2 years ago and regret it ever since, speed it's no big difference, storage same and pretty much all the same, the PLUS for the 125I it had quick start pedal and ignition key VS 160I it's key less and had (still have) too many problems with it

Thanks very much for the feedback.  I really appreciate it.

  7. I recently entered Thailand through Suvarnabhumi Airport. I handed the immigration officer my arrival card and all other documents she asked for, e.g., the Thailand pass. She took a long time in finally okaying things, even though I had a 60 day visa with me and all of the proper documents. Anyhow, as I mentioned, I gave her my arrival card. After getting to my hotel in Bangkok, I realized she didn’t give me the departure card in my passport. I was so relieved the immigration officer finally let me through, that I had failed to check for the departure card in my passport when she handed my passport to me.

I am leaving for Chiang Mai tomorrow from Bangkok. Here are the questions:

Can I get the departure card at immigration in Chiang Mai, or do I need to obtain it in Bangkok? Has anyone had a similar situation of no departure card or a lost departure card?

    Thanks.

I also used the CDC Vax card for the Thailand Pass application in late January.  I was surprised to see an email with the approval in 90 minutes.  Also, arrived in BKK a couple days ago and was in the hotel van in under an hour.  So far so good.  The entry process at BKK appears to have gotten more efficient.

Thanks for the report about your arrival / entry process..  Good to hear.

I used the CDC card and supplemented it with the QR code screenshot provided by my states Department of Health as we have an online ID app that provides merchants with an authenticated copy of our license and there’s a tab to add your vaccination status

put both images into a Word .docx document

titled it with my full passport name date of birth and passport #

maybe a belts and suspenders approach but i had read having the QR code would expedite my Pass. I’m still here trip is winding down

Thanks for your reply.  I ended up just using the CDC card and got the Pass approved.  The approval only took a few days, which was a pleasant surprise.

Hope you had a good trip.  Have a good trip back.

  10. I’m traveling from the United States and need to apply for the Thailand Pass. The Thailand Pass states, of course, that one needs a Certificate of Vaccination for the Covid vaccine and provides an example of one. However, in the U.S., when we are Covid vaccinated, we are just issued a “Covid-19 Vaccination Record Card.” Has any American uploaded the “Covid-19 Vaccination Record Card” in the Thailand Pass system and found this worked ok? Thanks.
