  1. I applaud the local police for the measured and civilized response. 500 baht fine for public sex at 4:30 am, sounds about right. Its also pleasing to hear they were both released. They sound like a lovely romantic couple letting loose on a holiday. I am sure they came here for more freedom and a wild holiday but they were simply misinformed. Who can blame them for thinking Pattaya is a place for libertine behavior?

You people don't think do you? They are pretty much "meat" when they head back to Iran. What do you think will happen to them? This is a country that locks up homesexuals and has a morality poilice. They are dead. Good job to the newspapers and the police for releasing their names...idiots.

  2. Ok, who is it that is up for eating my hat?

You are all happy now but just wait until thousands upon thousands of perper "UAV" airplanes cross over into Thai airspace. Luckily, I am developing a new state of the art SAM system dubbed as the SX1-APMADS(ScizzorX-1, Anti-Paper Model Airplane Delivery System). I will trying selling it to the military some time next year. Further testing is required.

  3. The Court of Appeals yesterday said Pichet or Thaksin Kaewsamduang should receive the benefit of doubt.

    and why should that be?

Because that is how justice works in every civilized country around the world.

A court will only convict someone of such a serious criminal offence if they are 99% sure they are guilty.

There is a saying, it is better that a 100 guilty men go free than one innocent man is sent to jail.

...and it helps if there is little to no actual police-work involved to get the facts of crime...is there a special school for crime scene investigation in Thailand somewhere?

  4. Time to talk about the markets again since we have "blood on the streets"

Who is ready for the plunge? As of Friday we have completed the 2nd biggest rally in U.S stock history. My position has been strong buy since November 2008 and have a very substantial holding

Here are a few charts on gold, silver, etc and more importantly where the DOW is heading. The charts arnt mine but this guy knows his stuff :)

Never left it. My belief is that this is a time to buy using good strategy. Let the others sell so you can buy it at a lower price. Nice for me.

  5. :) whats so funny is the banner adds on this post build a home in Thailand

never been a good idea but its getting worse not only do you have to screen your partner but the Thai government is becoming more anti western month buy month

Vietnam is booming compared to the backward ideas on investment from Thai government

Is there a Vietnam version of Thaivisa by any chance?

  6. Seen an advert on telly for them and looked on their website to find it costs a hefty £160 here in UK

anyone heard anything on it ???

I used it for spanish and italian and now will use it for thai. you can get cheaper copies in thailand, if you know what I mean. I think it is the best system out there. that is what the U.S. Army uses for their Defense Language Institute.

  7. My gf was mugged on a similar way 2 years ago. She is thai and her bag was locked to her so she was dragged behind the motorbike until they let go. She had a lot of open wounds but thank god nothing as serious as this lady.

Just tell you this because some people think only farang are targeted.

I wish the punks would try that with me, then again I would have to be holding my wife's handbad which I do sometimes when she is shopping...wonder how far they could get with a 290lb farang holding the bag? Scumbags, always pick on the weak or the weaker.

  8. The ECCO brand is sold in Thailand.... 13 wide though.... that is a big one

I had my shoes stolen at a temple once (nice, I know) and I had to borrow a monk's sandals (which fit half-way) and then I went looking for some new shoes. Only that I found that could kinda fit were some big boy sandals, expensive and not that comfortable. That is why I am planning ahead to see if I can find out about a place before I return to Thailand.

  9. Very talented boy, we featured him in our magazine last November if you are interested: http://www.chiangmainews.com/ecmn/viewfa.php?id=2353 and http://www.chiangmainews.com/ecmn/?id=82. Great talent, such a shame, but these are national policy issues and need to be sorted out from the top.

Thanks for the links, Sao Jiang Mai.

It is people not thinking ahead. If this kid already has this kind of interest in science then it should be encouraged. Clear the obstacles out of his way and let him choose a path. Who says this kid can't become an aeronautical engineer one day? It is just beauracratic small-minded thinking. I guess practing all day for a school spirit rally is more important than supporting a kid's future. Just got to get him away from being a BIB! Of course, maybe he will be the one to finally change the BIB for the better...but not if his dreams are smashed before he ever hits purberty!

  10. Chill out everyone. :)

Hey, one of my dreams is to travel across China and take in all its history. But...even though Thailand is jacked-up somewhat at the moment it is still more free than China (for now). Thai women are still hotter because they say "ka" when they talk. That is two votes now for Thai women are hotter.

  11. ...and the fact that they are communist......

or that the site of the Olympics was once housing for people who were forced out and had to watch as their homes were destroyed.

or the fact that pollution goes unchecked...

not saying I wouldn't want to visit there, but to live? Nah.

If we're going down the track of bashing upon a country...there are so many countries we could bash upon that it would fill an entire forum.

Maybe you can start such a forum ? Please leave this one for normal behaviour, instead bashing, if you please.

    LaoPo

What bashing, just saying that I couldn't live in a communist country, sheesh. Meow, retract the claws and don't hit me with yuor little red book. You are the one bashing Thailnad. I am voting that Thai women are way hotter than Chinese women!!!

I have to disagree with the above post (the one that starts with ...and the fact)...if you like it then stay there. Every place is screwed-up or perfect depending on one's perspective. I can have very intelligent conversations with my Thai wife as she makes it her business to know what is going on in the world. Is her English perfect? No, but neither is mine. Too much generalization and I believe that EndODays is out of his gourd.

  14. Combat style/rugged boots would probably be best for you if you're feet are not good. Maybe try a camping/outdoors shop though and you can probably find a compromise.

Don't know where exactly, although I reckon you'll find something in one of the bigger malls.

I wear Altima Dersert Combat Boots now but I was hoping to find a nice looking shoe I could wear to walk around in. Not a sneaker but something I could wear to a decent restaraunt. With my combat boots, my feet would have been toast here.

  15. 'Okay, I need a volunteer. Who here is in Prathom One?'

It's last Saturday and I am standing on a Hat Yai stage in front of a crowd of parents and children who have come to hear me speak about learning English.

I need a volunteer from primary school for a little game. The kids are usually very forthcoming. I'd like to continue that sentence with ''thanks to my winsome personality and unique charms'', but I suspect the bag of brightly-coloured jelly beans in my right hand has more to do with it.

Shouldn't this be in the Gay Forum? I wanted to do that, find a post and say "Shouldn't this be in this forum?".

  16. I have horrible feet and it doesn't help that I wear combat boots where I work (all the sand, dirt, rocks and gravel). Where can I go in Bangkok that has comfortable shoes for big Farang feet? I am a 13wide, U.S.. I am probably going to need orthopedic inserts (Planers Faciatis, bone spurs). I know I will end up paying a lot but I really need something comfy to walk around in. Any suggesions of where to look?
