  1. Hi All,

Just a quick question. We are setting up a new company to export and are wondering what the real advantages will be to set up a 100% export company versus a regular 49/51 Thai company. Basically, I want to know what the advantages and pitfalls of each choice are. Are you allowed to have less employees per work permit on a purely export company? Yes, I am aware that a 100% export company can be 100% foreign owned however I am wondering what other advantages there are. Any assistance appreciated.

On a similar topic - we will recieve export credits from the government (Blue Corner discounts) of 5.5% on our export values. These credits are normally used for purchasing raw material/parts in the production of products for exports. Since we are exporting finished goods, the credits do us no good other than we can sell them off at a discounted price. If we have a 100% export company, would we be able to sell these credits or would that sale be considered as a "sale" within Thailand? (100% export companies are not allowed to sell any products or services within Thailand).

    Cheers.

  2. Just got back from Singapore this morning.

Got my B visa with no problems.

The Thai Embassy opens at 9.15 - 12.15, be there for about 8.45 as there is a que, once inside take a ticket and wait about 5 minutes to be served. Providing everything is ok you get a ticket to pick your passport and visa up the following day at 2pm.

The staff are very friendly, dress smart and be polite and you will be fine.

There is a bar directly accross the road at the side of Hung Jewellers, many farangs hang out there and it is one of the cheapest bars you'll come accross, but still very expensive towards Thailand.

There are hundreds of hotels you'll have no problem finding one. Can't recommend the one we stayed at as it was absolutley SH*T, unclean and no smoking anywhere in the hotel, no bar and the fude was crap too.

    Good luck.

  4. Hi,

I wonder if any of you can give me some advice.

I have had my mail redirected from England since December, No problems.

1st April we moved to an new apartment and had mail directed there from England, however it has been 6 weeks and we have not received any mail yet.

I contacted the Post Office in england and they forgot to put my Apartments name on the envelopes.

So the mail is going to my apartment number, sukhumvit soi 13 with no apartment name.

The moral to the story is...................

My mail is stuck in Bangkok somewhere???????

Any idea what to do, or who to contact would be very much appreciated.

    VERY LARGE BEER ON OFFER

    Thanks

  5. Hi,

I travel to Singapore on Monday to get my B Visa, heard conflicting stories about the staff there.

My last B Visa was issued in the UK with no problems, however since then i have left my previous employers and handed my work permit in within the 7 day deadline.

What papers will the Thai embassy need in Singapore to issue me my B Visa, as in the UK a letter from my prospective employer sufficed.

Also, we will be staying in "Marina", does anyine know how far away this is from the Thai embassy there?

Any help would be much appreciated.

  6. Hi Udon,

Went with this company last month FANTASTIC!

The bus is the Full Monty, a double decker with relining seats, DVD playing and blankets provided for sleeping.

Get to soi 12 abiut 6.45am, they give you drinks and sandwiches, do all your paperwork.

When you get to Cambodia, they take you through, you then get a voucher for lunch at the hotel (Can't remember the name) it is an international buffet, eat and drink as much as you want.

Go back through the thai boarder, back on the coach and home about 5pm.

Very comfy and the staff are fab!!

  7. medicinebox,

    890,000 baht seem High!!!!!!!!!!!

No that is not our company, as far as kilometers go, this is not allowed in England.

Each car when it gets to England has to pass an SVA test, kilometers on the clock would fail!

We ensure all our vehicles (approx 100 per month) comnply to EU rules.

My husband worked for the ' Ministry of Transport' as an inspector for many years and now controls all conversion to EU standards before vehicles get to England.

Emmissions are a big problem in England and if not adjusted proper will definately fail an SVA test.
