With some of the recent posts lately I agree with you.

You get a lot of Thai bashing and what make me laugh is they start with this is not a Thai bash thread, when it is.

Made the mistake myself in the past.

Thanks that's all I wanted to put out there

  2. For a start:

    - Get the taxi situation legalized, just copy Singapore if you can't figure it out yourself.

    - Stop the thefts from luggage. How, with thievery being a national sport...?

    - Stop security staff from confiscating all kinds of stuff, which is not on the dangerous materials list at the checkpoints. They do that with

a miserable smile and show around their trophies to their accomplices as soon as the passenger is proceeding to the gate. A friend of mine

had his expensive mobil stolen from his travel bag in the confusion these guys created at the checkpoint checking several items at a time

and making a major story holding on to 3 units of canned salmon.

    - How about a nice smile arriving & leaving the country by officials. I arrive in AustraliaI am greeted with a genuine smile and "Welcome to

    wonderful Australia!"

Nothing will ever change...Arrogance & Ignorance are close friends!

Please tell me where in Australia have you received this sort of welcome,so I can plan to arrive there in the future. My experience especially in Sydney is that you are met by rude ignorant people.

  3. The Nation

"Police said they were shot and killed on beach chairs on the Jomtien Beach at about 5 am. A security officer of a nearby resort said he heard gunfire and saw a Thai man rushing up from the beach and fleeing on a motorcycle. He checked the beach and found the two Russian women lying dead on the beach chairs."

What brave chaps these Thais are when they have a gun against two women sun bathing in deck chairs or when there are 12 of them kicking a drunk farang on the ground. No wonder their military is so pathetic - beaten by Laos in 1988, nealy beaten by Burma a couple of times and too cowardly to send reinforcements to help patrols under fire in the South.

    Are you for real ?

  4. :D

Guys like this will make the live for normal farangs more difficult.

You can be sure that immigration officers will be even more careful now.

Because of one bad farang and one bad immigration officer!!!

Who actually told YOU he was bad. You may have been here for a while but you just signed up today ??? :o

Well wot can i say also he should of covered his tracks but been a so silly german wot can u xpect good RIDDANCE of tossers like him pattaya has enuf plums there :D:D

Cheque your spelling nickhead Ya drive me mad

  5. SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT DIRECTOR AFFIRM AIRPORT'S OPENING WOULD BE IN JUNE

Suvarnabhumi Airport Director SOMCHAI SAWADEEPHOL (สมชัย สวัสดีผล) has stated that all airliners have been notified of the airport's opening date in June this year.

On December 30th last year, the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) made confirmation letters to all airliners affirming them of the opening of the airport within 180 days. The AOT also informed the airliners of its planned adjustment of landing fees within three months of opening.

Mr. Somchai said the communications system and the control tower have been readied whereas the check-in and ticketing systems are 90% complete. The luggage conveyor belts have been tested to yield a minimal error margin. As for the runway, the airport director said a C-130 aircraft weighing the same as a Boeing was used to test take-offs and landings on the runway, and proved that the runway surface was safe for future use by commercial airliners.

They must have send a lot of letters if they send one to every airliner.

  6. I can see what some posters are worried about, with the "cry wolf" point above, and although being safe rather than sorry is certainly OK in the short term, I agree that we cannot continue to jump at every quake - BUT - until the system "has the bugs worked out" - in other words, perhaps developing a two stage warning system (an Alert, followed by a Warning perhaps), then we must at least be reassured that our government has moved very fast to set up the early warning system as it is.

I certainly support their efforts - don't forget that earlier the complaints were that there was NO warning system at all - now we are getting "picky", when we should give it a little time.

Sadly, the tourism industry is going to be affected no matter what; there are lots of people who are scared of the south of Thailand for other reasons as well - and overseas, there is little distinction made between the South of Thailand, and Phuket, an island in southern Thai waters.

Sure as farang, we have certain freedoms over the locals,

I can't think of any, could you be more specific?

I'm not trying to get into a debate on subjective definitions of 'freedom' here, but my intended meaning was a long the lines of as farang, we can get away with a lot more than Thais just for the fact of being farang. Many times, police and other authorities won't go through the full hassles with farang as they would Thais in many situations. Whether, it's traffic related or entering a club, or whatever.

Sometimes, we take this for granted and cross the lines...where accidents related to cross-cultural misunderstandings can happen...

    Aren't you half Thai?

He is going to be disturbed when he will see ur posts......
Ha :o ha, I know what I would have done in this sonny guys shoes, when I found out my "mate" was talking about me to strangers.
