As usual, you are the reliable source of advice for this and other Thai Visa topics.
I am grateful for your kind and prompt reply to my plight. ????

Your advice will be most appreciated.
American citizen who lived in Thailand for 9 years on an extended visa that I renewed yearly in Changwathana. In 2017 I returned to the US to have a shoulder operated on. Complications forced me to have 3 more surgeries and finally a total shoulder replacement. During that time Covid happened.
Now, after physical therapy I am fully recovered.
I am 81 years of age, retired and in good overall health. I have health insurance that covers evac from anywhere in the world. I have the possessions I accumulated during those 9 years in a storage owned by a good Thai friend. I would like to return to Thailand to resume the thread of my life there. I have a savings account in my name in a Thai bank. My passport is still valid and shows the stamps for every yearly extension.
Should I go back on a tourist visa and then apply for a yearly extension as before?
1- Is the US embassy still issuing the retirement statements for this purpose?
2- How much Thai currency should I have deposited in that account?
3- Should I have a certificate of vaccination from the US?
What additional requirements have been added during these 3 years?
TIA to everyone in Thai Visa.

Want to know the cause of lawlessness on the Thai roads?
Have you noticed the cardboard/plaster dummies saluting us dressed in police uniforms?
Inside the air conditioned traffic booths there are more of them watching TV and connecting on Line and FB.

Hi, I live in Samut Prakarn and the immigration service has a good website. Last time I phoned ( 02 395 0029 ) the lady who answered spoke almost fluent English, best check with her.
Unless I'm very much mistaken, Bang Na is in Bangkok, not Samut Prakarn so I wouldn't have thought you could extensions there, but the staff will be able to advise. I'm not really sure about Bang Na - the shopping mall Mega Bang Na is actually in Bang Phee, which is in Samut Prakarn, not Bangkok, but it's still called Mega Bang Na, so best check with the experts!Hi ! You were right. I went to Samut Phrakan office and I got the bad news: I must go to Changwatthana even if I am virtually in Samut Phrakan.
Thanks for the info!!!

THANK YOU MAESTRO FOR YOU SPOT ON ANSWER!!!
If your postal code is Bangkok, one must go to Changwatthana.
I live a few meters from the Samut Phrakan border but my zip code is Bangkok.
I went yesterday to the Immigration office in Samut Phrakan and got the answer to the question: No. If one lives in a Bangkok postal code it's Changwattana for any visa, extensions, etc.
I guess it's about narrowing control of foreigners and not about providing a service in a logical manner.
The office is tiny and a even small crowd overwhelms it early in the morning. So... it's Changwatthana for me and others like me.
I hope this info helps.

You are correct, my address has the Bangkok zip code but actually only a few hundred meters from Samut Phrakan province.
I emailed the office about my question and on Monday I will call or go to find out details.I will post the results for all to see and know.
I cannot thank you enough for you kind attention to my question.
Truly appreciative,

I have gone for 6 years to Chang Wattana to do my yearly extension.
Now I live in Bangna almost in Samut Phrakan province.
Is it a requirement of Immigration that one has to live in the Province of Samut Phrakan to apply at that office?
I have no direct experience with this office.
The last time I read something here in TV was positive in the sense that it was not crowded, well organized very easy and fast moving queue.
Anybody has done the extensions in Samut Phrakan who cares to share his experience there?
TIA

I wonder how case conferences for situations like this go :
Senior Officer : What evidence do we have and where is it pointing ?
Subordinate : Where do you want it to point ?
Senior Officer : Ok let's implicate ... !
Subordinate : Consider it done. Sir when will the reward payout come ?
Stalin: We have to find who did this.
Beria: Show me the man and I will show you the crime connected with him

I don't know what the Thai report says but it's a pity the TV story has no information if the driver stopped, was located, is being traced, breathalyzed etc.
Please! Do you really expect a professional performance from these guys? They paid good money to wear the police uniform.

Can he come back in
He has gone to Dubai, to seek advice from an expert.
He is vey good friends with the Man in Dubai. Not out of the question.
Not the question either. He has good friends in the local Ammart and local devoted population to his "teachings"

Maybe smart of the government. The resistors have made it politcal with their democracy claim.
Thai police are keenly aware of the old axiom: "Beware of the power of idiots in large numbers!"

Swedish Ambassador His Excellency Staffan Herrstrom admitted to ACM Prajin that he did not fully understand how Thailand approaches human rights.
I can relate to that, because most developed countries have this strange thing called equal rights... something that it will take a generation or two to see in this country.
Clever way to elicit a plausible answer from an official lackey. He knows the issue of course, but sometimes diplomacy works best playing dumb as a test of the true intentions of the blunt government parrot,
As for the Jet fighters, they can, and will, go the way of the Saab.

Explosion at Hua Lampong station injures two
BANGKOK: -- A bomb went off in front of Hua Lampong railway station at 1.00 pm today injuring two train passengers.
The bomb exploded at the entrance to the station near KFC shop.
EOD police are now sealing off the station to inspect the area.
Initial report quoted witnesses as saying that the bomb was contained in a box and one of the injured was said to throw a cigarette butt into the box, igniting the explosion.
Two injured were admitted to the Klang Hospital.
However railway police commander said it was not a bomb but a bottle of inflammable substance in a bottle that exploded.
The cigarette butt which one passenger discarded off in the box triggered it to explode.

"Inflammable substance" could have been water. FLAMMABLE substance eg gasoline, alcohol, will burn.
Proper grammar or use of English language has never been the forte of Americans, Canadians or UK subjects.
To them a gruesome photo is called GRAPHIC. One of many examples.
In Pygmalion (or My Fair Lady movie for those who cannot stand reading an entire masterpiece) George Bernard Shaw said it best:
English language... in American they have not used it for years....

Heading south..do a job n hurry back up north....well,that confirms my thai friends conspiracy theory about certain official group fanning the fire in the south in order to increase the clandestine sales of arms to Southern rebels
Nope.
Read the story.
Its frustrating, but some people have the attention span of a fruit fly and reading more than a headline is an onerous task..
The story in Khaosod English clearly stated that the bottle/container had been abandoned by a third party. These guys just happened to be smoking a cigarette in the vicinity and when fire met powder or fumes there was a small explosion.
Why drag fruit flies into this when everybody knows it had to be the evil doing of Thaksin.
Ask any Anti-Thaksinista and that will confirm it.
Specially is they answer the question before taking their OCD meds.
-
There is literally no defending this.
YES, THERE IS a lame defense!! Just ask the Anti-Thaksinistas and Pro-Suthepistas that were clamoring for the coup and closing Bangkok down.
That is their brand of Democracy.
Where are they now? Are they finally taking their meds to keep their OCD under control?
-
After seeing the majority turn their back on the last govt through protesting there will be no need for a nominee PM.
When the previous govt promises 8 times to pay the farmers before Suthep was even in the picture one can be assured that that side of the political persuasion have limited support now and into the future.
Mind you if that side offer 90% above market value for rice then Prayut better think again.
How do you bridge the chasm between the number of people who protested in Bangkok in 2013/2014, as compared to the majority of voters in Thailand?
Toe-tag Anti-Thaksinistas will always be in favor of the indefensible if it affects Yellows, the elete Ammart, etc. It's in their wannabe elite nature to do so.
They are yet to thank Thaksin. Without him, toe-tag Anti-Thaksinistas would not have a life.

FARANG: It's outrageous It's violence!!!
THAI: TSK, TSK!! Farang can't understand Thainess.

How ironic that the cover of the chapter shows the Democracy Monument.
That monument was built by a dictator, the one who allowed the Japanese army to occupy Thailand for years and brought us the hard labor prisoner camp in Kanchanabury.
Sorry about that Thai apologists. This is a historical fact.

Thais are way better off not going to Saudi to be enslaved by those sob's.
If such brand of people go to Saudi Arabia then if follows that:
SOBs go to work for SOBs.. what's wrong with that?

"On his recommendation for military commanders to serve as appointed senators during the transition to the next government, Gen Prawit explained that the idea was to ensure that order could be maintained during the period. He added that the commanders are preferable as they can serve as intermediaries between different political factions."
INDEED!!! That is the Hobsonian philosophy of Coups R US.

More nails in the coffin of free speech. Thailand the land of the not very free.
You forgot that 99 % of Thais are happy with the current regime?
If you don''t know ask the T V resident Anti-Thaksinistas OCDers. They will affirm that all is well in the land of the Junta.
All the ills of the country will be remedied by adjusting the attitude of those who negatively click, like, forward or share false information.
They will support pogroms and purges of those who will deviate from the official truth. There!
