  1. I had a similar issue with Ticks in our house (single story), perhaps around the same amount as you mentioned.

We had 2 dogs outside that needed to be treated by the Vets and pretty much killed the ticks outside and inside.

The ticks were hiding in dark corners, crevasses, under rocks etc; for the interior of the house, since we had small children

we used clorox & water solution to cleanse the affected area and kept it up vigilantly.

I've notice that the ticks were more active during the rainy season when it is more damp, make sure you get the ticks before

    they lay eggs and multiply.

  2. I wouldn't be to optimistic about the increase in Jpax (Japanese paxes) to Thailand for 2015.

As year to date (Oct.2014) JTM figures for outbound travel in S/E asia, only Vietnam has about a 10% increase for the Jpax,

Thailand is down nearly 19% YTD. Other Jpax destination such as HK,Taiwan, Malaysia,Hawaii are up a trickle whilst

    Guam, Saipan,Korea, China are down.

One 2015 impact factor will depend on the Japanese yen, as stated above by another TV member.

  3. I stayed or lived at the Somerset service apartment/hotel on Soi 16, the nearest BTS station would be Asoke station.

Although its about a 400 meter walk inside Soi 16, the Somerset does have a hotel TukTuk to shuttle customers from the

hotel to the main drag (Sukhumvit road). There is another Somerset (Citadel) on 16 nearby but I haven't stayed there, also there is

    a small Foodland supermarket there.

At the Somerset, there are 2 towers each with a pool a gym also a washer/dryer and a kitchen in the unit.

I believe the Somerset is affiliated to the Ascot chain hotels.

  4. Have you tried booking with UA directly?

The ANA to Tokyo flights are run as codeshares with UA, so you can still book a ticket from BKK to the US like normal with UA.

    that is correct.

you should resort to ua.com to book a ticket to Bkk from US.

  5. try look at the Thai Avis & Budget website. there should be a tab on the Avis site that has a long term rental (leasing) for over a month.

I last searched on Avis and was able to get an estimate for a month rental under the lease tab which was less expensive than the daily rate. most likely I'll be resorting to long term for my next years visit.

  6. I've seen this type of pricing on both Nok and AAsia. Since I have a family of 5 I always check search for the best pricing.

What I presume is that; each particular flight has (x) amount of promotion seats - so therefore If you want more seats and

the promo seats are unavailable, it'll just default to the next higher rate.

  7. As for my opinion of choice, as you mentioned somewhere nearby - I would suggest Singapore and Malaysia together.(its a 2 hour flight from BKK)

Singapore has a Universal Studio (good for the kids) located on Sentosa along with other optional tours you can choose. You can also take a quick

bus tour departing from Singapore to Lego-Land in Malaysia, the trip takes about 1.1/2 hours one way and the cost is very reasonable.

Just a caution for December travel, School holiday therefore places like Universal/Legoland can be sold out so advance booking is recommended.

Also, the hotels will definitely raise their room rates during December so you should search early for the best rates guaranteed.

    have a great trip.

  8. check out this tour bus company in Tokyo; website http://www.hatobus.com/en/

apart from the JR rail pass, they have short day trips as well as a array of other tour options. Hato busses are nice & clean.

Also, JR (Japan Railways) have their own tour offices located within big stations such as Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Shinagawa etc.,

in which you can book hotels directly for any city at a reasonable cost. Now is a good favorable time to go as the yen is

trading at 104-105yen vs the USD.

-other places of interest in Tokyo

    Tsukiji Fish Market

    Shibuya Station

    Harajuku Takeshita dori

    Roppongi (night life)

    Asakusa

    Rainbow bridge

    Ginza

    enjoy your trip.

  9. The two posts above have nothing to do with the OP - they are just the usual Air Asia bashing complaints.

terryp - Air Asia charges a fee when you pay by credit card. You either accept it or you find a different airline. Pretty simple.

wdr - I have flown Air Asia more than 60 times in the past 2-3 years (and I use a range of other airlines too). Have never had a debit card declined, and if I did I would expect to pay more if I went to the physical office/counter to pay for a ticket. Air Asia charges significantly more if you don't book online, it is part of their business model

Honestly there seems to be a club of Air Asia knockers that come out of the wood work everytime there is a topic about Air Asia- in this case both early posts are way off topic. The usual Air Asia bashing is getting a bit old, go find another airline to fly. There is plenty of competition, make use of it.

    bah.gif

its not bashing at all its an opinion entitled to everyone who have experienced AA. Have you flown AA to Narita? tell me about the service?

  10. Upon entry, my daughter's Thai passport was expired and entered with her US passport. (no Thai birth certificate documents required) my wife and 6yr old daughter exited Thailand on July 8th, daughter overstayed by 3days on US passport and had no problem exiting without penalty. I took a glance at my daughters exit Stamp on US passport and strangely, immigration fudged early the departure date to reflect exactly 30 days or the entitlement duration granted for US citizen.

  11. I suggest booking the Universal Studio tickets through a Singapore travel agency called; Asiatravel.com (www.asiatravel.com)

Go into the site, tab under Singapore in which there will be a list of hotels and a tab for tours/excursions.  I book with them

many times and had good experience.

You'll be able to get the tour (Universal studio) only w/bus transportation and an option to buy a meal coupon.  Once the bus

takes you to the property, you go to the tour Kiosk with your voucher and retrieve your tickets.  The pricing is very good.

FYI: there is Legoland as well situated across the Singapore border in which you can also go by bus with the same company.

I did both trips with my youngest daughter.  The Flywheel and duck tours were great too.

lastly, you should google - Singapore holidays just to check if the days 30/31 are okay, if not it can be very busy at parks, shopping etc.

  12. "the TTAA president raised his concerns that the visa-waiving policy would attract low quality tour operators. He said he would meet Japanese officials to discuss measures to maintain the high standard tour service offered by local travel agents in Japan."

I am sure the president means low quality 'Thai tour operators', nothing is sub-standard in Japan and is an expensive destination with a highly trained service industry.

  13. Funny. It's the markets themselves that don't know crap about pricing. Many times the smaller packed items are cheaper (per ml or oz) than when buying in big sizes. I've seen this in bottles of shampoo, soft drinks, toilet paper and even candies.

yes your'e right. I find smaller packings cheaper than the larger ones which makes no sense. One example was a roll of electric wiring at home hub,

the smaller roll was cheaper by meter versus the larger roll.

  14. Ouch!!!! That's going to hurt big time, attacking the heart of amazing Thailand where it starts with the people rice farmers... Technically a great idea from their point of view.... cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

cheesy.gifcheesy.gif Well done Yingluck, you better flee to Hawaii or Ibiza now, before the rice farmers catch you,... cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

    why Hawaii?

don't hurt our feelings, we don't need her here.

  15. push your trip a little further.

come and visit Honolulu, the weather is great 22'-30'c not as humid as Thailand (this month) - plenty of golf courses and beautiful paradise, multi-culture and english spoken..

stay or choose a local area such as Ala Moana unlike Waikiki where all the tourists are. There are a several Thai restaurants in the

vicinity and I am sure you will enjoy your stay.

quality can be expensive in Honolulu but local hotel such as Pagoda Hotel/ or Ala Moana Hotel may be fine (3star), check google for Outrigger Hawaii chain hotels.

other US pacific territory destination nearby with golf courses are; Guam, Saipan, Palau; they are also nice places but weather similar to Thailand, very humid versus Hawaii.

The travel routing to the US territories from Bangkok will be either connecting through Philippines on UAL or through Narita Japan as well as traveling to Honolulu.
