If you're on a Non-Imm 'O' first extension based on marriage which was secured using the 400K in the bank, can you then switch to 40K per month for 12 months for year 2's extension?
Also, if you are working legally in Thailand while on the Non-Imm 'O' extension, will the 40K per month from a Thai salary be acceptable, or will they insist on it being 40K per month from abroad?

Also good to know that this 2 months seasoning requirement is only applicable when applying for the 1-year for reason of marriage. When applying for reason of dependent children, the 400K only needs to be on your personal thai bank-account (a joint one is not accepted) at the moment of application.
Really? Is this true of all IO's? Do you have a link to this in Immigration's own rules? Fantastic, if true and if adhered to by all IO's.

Those letters were free before. How do they justify charging 1,400THB now? And is this just for tourists who want to stay on or for all, including those with legitimate reasons to be here, but find themselves in limbo?

That's pretty much the same as the letter from the Irish embassy.there doesn't seem to be anything for people on short term visas.... Irish embassy is also charging 1400 BAHT for the letter if you meet the requirements.
1400THB? Really? For what kind of people? That is excessive!

Your best bet is using an fixer agent. I used one last week for my marriage extension that was recommended by a few others in this forum.
@nightfox Which agent was that, mate, and where are they based?

What happens if it does not officially become law on or before July 31? Will those of us on the amnesty be on overstay until it is officially law?

If I were you, I would make take his photo and a photo of his moped and make a police report. Your life could be in danger.

If you marry your child's mother after birth that legitimizes your parent hood.
Excellent! That is why Prakarn Sankhom pay me 600 baht every month for my kids. Let's hope Immigration are on the same wavelength.
As an aside, the people who work at Prakarn Sankhom are always so pleasant and helpful with everything, unlike the greedy, corrupt pigs at Immigration. If only whomever manages Prakarn Sankhom could take over at Immigration, life would be a lot easier. ????
Thanks again, Ubonjoe.

It's only if you weren't legally married, or the children were born out of legal wedlock that the Father would then need to obtain a Court Order, legitimising himself as the Father and the right of parental responsibility.
Even if the father married the mother after the child was born?

This week the brown envelope brigade will get you a 90 day visa if you pay enough money, they/she says not next week.
The reason I asked which brown envelope brigade in Udon Thani are you referring to, is because you seem to be aware of some particular agent saying they/she can get a 90-day visa "this week", but "not next week".
Are you, in fact, referring to one particular agent in Udon Thani who has actually said this you? As I am considering the use of an agent, but have been waiting for an official announcement from the government about the amnesty, I am quite concerned by "they/she says not next week". Please PM me, if you would prefer not to name names publicly.
Thanks!

You will pay 1900B and an "additional" 3000B to have an immigration officer come visit your home place of residence
I would like to know if that was an Udon Thani Immigration "requirement" and which officer "required" it? Also, did you get a receipt for both expenses?

Hi @Peter DenisThere seems to be conflicting cases and opinions on whether or not Visa Exempt or Tourist Visa folks can get the extra 30 days now, if they went on amnesty before applying for it for the first time. Perhaps different IO's have different interpretations.

My wife told me Mukdahan - Savannakhet border will be open in 15 July. Dont know to everyone or only to thais. This means if its for farangs too they will start to send people out of thailand starting from 15 and 31 will be the last day.
No announcement to that effect on https://laoevisa.gov.la/notice
You would think if they were going to open the borders there in two days' time, that they would have announced this publicly already, both Thailand and Laos.

The requirements to apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) at immigration are more stringent than a normal 30 day day extension. Read the info here I posted earlier in this topic. http://bangkokimmigration.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/06-edit_NON-O.pdf
Thanks, Ubonjoe. You gave me that information before and it has been a great guideline.
However, what I would like to know is if there any IO's that are accepting applications for the initial 90-day Non-Imm O visa based on marriage if one is on the Visa Amnesty, or are they all refusing?
And, if there are some offices accepting these applications, can I use them if they are not in the province where I am currently located, since my last entry to Thailand was a Visa Exempt entry, extended by 60 days based on marriage?
Many thanks!

If your local IO is unwilling to handle your application, please note that since you are on a Tourist Visa, that you can apply at any IO so it would then be a matter of finding an IO that would be more accomodating.
If my last entry was on a 30-day visa exempt at Nongkhai on March 6, which was then extended by 60 days based on marriage until June 3 (days before the amnesty announcement, unfortunately!), and I have been on the amnesty since June 3, are there any IO's that are accepting applications for the initial 90-day Non-Imm O visa based on marriage or are they all refusing?
If yes, am I eligible to apply for the 90-day Non-Imm O visa based on marriage at any of those IO's since my last entry was visa exempt, same as the OP, rather than at the IO where I currently reside?
Many thanks in advance!

Thats the way its been explained to me.
Who explained that to you? Do you think they would do that? Can you imagine the absolute uproar of all the embassies and their respective citizens who would be affected?
I think it's time for the mods to close these type of threads. Two of them are running concurrently in this forum. Nothing but scaremongering and causing people to panic. It doesn't help in any way apart from making some people, who probably aren't even on amnesty, feel all smug and superior. Until we hear word from a much higher power than Col. Phakkhaphong, then we won't know for sure.

RB shared a certain other news outlet's article, which we cannot share here. In that article it was mentioned that a certain Pol Maj Gen Piti said that the Interior Ministry's extension would expire on July 31. Now, that is either stating the obvious and is deliberately provocative, as there is no mention of an extension, or it means that Pol Maj Gen Piti is indicating that the amnesty is over. However, I assume that it is the Cabinet that decide these things, so we must still wait.

And this poll (probably) doesn't include responses from all the Cambodians, Laotians and Burmese who are also here on amnesty, of which there are much greater numbers than we farangs....

The thing is there are lot of guys married have ME based on marriage. Obviously they usually exit every 90. Those folk sort of in no man's land. So guess they will be ticking yes.
Fair point, Dr. Jack. Thanks. I am kind of in no man's land too, having coming off a Non-Imm 'B' based on work, but having been prevented from applying for a new Non-Imm 'O' based on marriage by the border closures due to bad luck with timing. There are many combinations and permutations. That's why I just asked it as simply as possible with Yes or No answers.

There has been a lot of discussion about whether or not the visa amnesty will be extended, but how many of us are actually on it at the moment?

By then i think come November, surrounding countries shouldve opened and hopefully people can hop over to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia.
But will they be able to hop back without the ridiculous restrictions in place at the moment? That is the question on everyone's lips for August 1 or September 1 or even November or December 1, whenever there is a semblance of normality.

First Extension of Stay Based on Marriage - Udon Thani
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Do you have any half-Thai kids with your Thai wife? I seem to remember posts about the 400K only having to be in the account on the day you apply for a Non-Imm 'O' visa extension based on your children, as opposed to the 2 months before et al for the extension based on marriage. Others, far more knowledgeable in these matters than I, could clarify that for you.
