Hi,
does anyone know of a good, english speaking mechanic to check and fix some stuff on a small bike? The bike is a Suzuki Raider 150.
It's got some problem with power at low RPM, difficult to change to neutral gear, and it seems kind of out of balance, especially in corners.

He's safe right now. This is more about long term help and also educating myself on how to deal with this.
I will check out the pinned list with mental health resources and consult someone from there.

Hi,
I got a suicidal friend living here in Bangkok.
Are there any hotlines/help centers specializing in suicide prevention/counselling here?
Cheers

Thanks for the useful downloads and tips so far. I guess I'll check this shop in Pathum Thani and start learning to fix my bike by myself...

Hi,
since I got my second hand Raider about a year ago, there seem to be some problems at the bike, that don't prevent it from working (most of the time), but are annoying for me and they seem to be unfixable by the standard Thai motorbike mechanic. Things like strange sounds at the bike or having to change the spark plug 5 or 6 times since I got the bike, and I'm not driving a lot with the bike... I would like to get these things fixed, like the thing, whatever it is, that makes the spark plugs break so often, not just change the spark plug and also get rid of these strange sounds. But so far it seems like the mechanics here just make the bike work again and they are not looking for the real problem or they don't even hear the sounds that I hear. Maybe I'm just going crazy and hear things, but I doubt it.
Most of the time I bring my bike to Suzuki shops here in Bangkok. I tried different ones, but all with the same results.
Is there any way to get my bike fixed more thoroughly? Any shop recommendations in Bangkok or Nonthaburi? Or how to make it clear to the mechanics that I not just want to have my bike fixed as fast and cheap as possible, but as good as possible, even if it takes a little bit longer and costs a little bit more?

Hi,
I'd like to buy a decent, light raincoat, poncho or jacket in BKK. But so far I've only found the cheap ones, that either start falling apart after a day of using or are not really waterproof or combine these two attributes.
Hope someone can tell me where I can get this?

You might want to give mocyc.com a try. But you need some Thai language skills or some Thai friend, wife or whatever since you will be mostly dealing with Thais there.

Hi,
does anyone know a place where I can rent electric power tools in Bangkok, preferably close to Chaeng Watthana? I just need a sabersaw or a jigsaw and a decent drilling machine.
Cheers

I want to build some sort of drum out of it (http://www.ehhs.cmich.edu/~dhavlena/for-webpage-lp-hang.htm).
And this guy advices :
IMPORTANT: USE ONLY NEW -- NEVER-BEEN-FILLED -- 20 pound propane tanks...
And since I don't want to blow up myself or somebody else, I'd like to follow his advice.

Hi,
I'm looking for an empty and new propane gas bottle. I checked some of the small gas shops in the area where I live, but they only had empty ones that have been used already or new ones that were filled already.
So does anyone know where to get an empty and new one in Bangkok?
Thanks for your answers

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a Yamaha DT 125 or Suzuki TS 125.
Does anyone know if this kind of bike is suitable for "long" distance rides, like about 400 km. I don't worry about comfort, i just wonder, if the engine would play along on a ride like this.
Thanks for answers.

Hi,
I'm looking for one of the following motorbikes in good condition, preferably located in Bangkok or somewhere close.
Yamaha DT (175 MX)
Honda XL (185)
Suzuki TS (185)
I would prefer the engine sizes, I stated, but if you have something in a different size, it might still be worth to give me a call.
So, if anybody wants to sell his or hers or has seen someone selling one, just give me a call(0847533502).

Hi there,
Since I'm going to leave Thailand for a while, I decided to sell my motorbike. It's a Yamaha Super X1, 5 years old, about 24000km. It's got a 110cc engine, manual clutch, disk break in the front, drum in the back. Brakes in front and back and the tire in the back are new. It has some modification in the exhaust pipe, so it's a little bit louder than usual. Otherwise it's working fine for me. Road tax and insurance paid until August 2010. It's registered on my name. Price is about 10k Baht. The bike is located in Bang Kapi, Bangkok. Unfortunately I have to sell it before the 12th October.
If interested, call Bengt(0847533502)
Cheers

Hi
I got a double entry tourist visa, issued on the 08.04.09 in Vientiane. On the visa it says, i have to enter Thailand before the 07.07.09. Does this apply to the first entry only, or to both entries?

Thanks for the answers. I went to Piston Shop yesterday and they seem to be able to fix it, once I get some parts to them from BKK.
