  1. I saw this article online and I wanted to have a punt.....whats the deal here? can I sign up for online punting? I notice this guy is based in Phuket...he looks reputable...but Im just wondering if signing up to gambling sites is legal and if its a good idea to pay some money through paypal...also has anyone had any experience with this guy?

  2. If 20% of all road accidents on Phuket are caused by drunk drivers, then, it stands to reason that 80% of all road accidents on Phuket are caused by sober drivers.

Maybe it's actually safer to drink and drive?

Well i certainly think so....i drive slower when drunk

  3. Peter.

Next time, send Samos a private message if you would like to call something to his attention.

This thread is going in circles and stevenl is filling the void left by KBB.

    Boring.

Yes i realize that now mate i made a mistake and know it i hope he excepts my apologies

But he is always talking about Australia having nanny laws, you would not be fined for having

drink in a car if you were a passenger there, driving and drinking is a different matter as well as driving under the influence

Pretty sure your not allowed to have a drink in the car as a passenger.

  4. But from Baan Krating to Nai Harn will already take almost 15 minutes, from there to Patong another 30. Ya Nui to Patong will also be about 30 minutes. Something like Kata or Karon would suit the OP much better probably.

Kata or Karon dont resemble anything like the Thai islands..7-11s, Optometrists, Tuk Tuks, Traffic, Noise, being pestererd by hawkers on the beach, Jetski idiots....no view of the beach because its all blocked by club med. Kata beach looks more and more like Chaweng/Pattaya or Patong every day. All though Kata beach is nice when you get on there. Trust me OP go down South

  5. Nai Harn Beach is the best beach on the island hands, there is bungalows called Baan Krating right past the end of Ao Sane, spectacular stuff. There are alo plenty of budget through to medium range bungalows areound that area...also Ya Nui beach has some nice little resorts near by...thats a pic of Ya Nui during high season...its a lot quiter down there now. There is plenty of stuff to within a 15 minute car or bike ride

    Did the pic show up?

  7. your sweet if you drive a car...its almost impossible to get pulled over....also on the very odd occasion when they have pulled over cars at Chalong circle you can just pretend you didnt see them...my missus does it never stops...Im normally laughing like a hyena when she does it but she cant seem to fathom why its so funny. She just says to me 'They wont chase me'. And you know what she is right

When they put on those big once every 6 month blitzes on Chao Fa, Wiset or Patak Road...you can just bust a 'U' turn as they are so blindingly obvious you must want to get caught

  8. Sex tourists book the cheapest accommodation the can and spend all of there available money in bars

I do not dislike sex tourists but i know what they are

Normal tourists who are the majority book into tourist hotels and do not spend all there money in bars

but on tours entertainment etc and spend a lot more money

As far as i am concerned farangs who own girlie bars are just pimps and if they did the same thing in Australia such as charging bar fines, would be charged and convicted of being a pimp

The people i know who have bought a bar here regret it, the books have been cooked to make the bars look profitable when they are not

usually by farangs who want to sell up and return to there home country

The only really successful bar i know of here is the Aussie bar,He set up his new bar straight after the tsunami when there were no tourists and has been expanding it ever since with no bar ladies just paid staff

The Aussie bar pimps out girls too

Things must have changed have not been to the Aussie bar or Patong in the evening for Years

Last time we went there was 2 years ago to watch the new years eve fireworks

Normally only go to Patong in the day time for shopping and banking

They always have had them...they are call them waitresses there. Ask anyone of them to accompany you and they will, of course for a price....they are just a little more discreet than others

  9. No shows on appointment days....if people cant show up on time then i wont be parting with my cash....pm me as im on my phone....i can come meet you tomorrow

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect App

I showed up to meet you but I didnt have any phone battery as I had been on the car rally all day...then you didnt reply to any of my messages and I couldnt get you on your phone...

I was sitting waiting for you at Chalong Beer Garden for an hour, And you were at Kan Eng. Now I tried to call you but your phone was off. Your stating above that you tried to call me...how is that so when you had no battery?....a serious internet website guru would never be without a smartphone, couldnt you have lobbed your SIM into another phone? How hard is it to walk less than 3 minutes around to the next bar and say your phone is screwed? I then blocked your number, because you wasted my time and honestly I dont want to hear excuses....Ive got cash and I want to spend it..... If you cant make it to the first appointment then really its a case of 'first impressions last'....

Dont worry I actually bumped into ANOTHER website designer that promised to do a site for me in the Chalong Beer Garden that evening, He asked, "hey mate what are you doing here"...i said "waiting for a website designer that isnt going to waste my time" well I had to eat humble pie after that

I was planning on doing you a favor as a fellow TV member....so good luck with it....you could have had a quality site by now. Although to be honest I dont blame you as I also dont like people that dont turn up for appointments. ermm.gif

It took me a while but i have someone now. Punctual, knows his stuff and at a good price

  10. telling people how to do something is the same as teaching is it not

    No, it is not.

OK Steven explain why in more than one sentence

Telling people how to do something does not mean they can do it independently next time. And the latter is teaching, the former is making sure people do it the way you want.

Unfortunately, Independent thought, Situational awareness, mental arithmetic and reading maps are not thought in Thai Schools

  12. this is the umpteenth tipping thread in thaivisa with the same old same old controversial comments. some people must be really coffee1.gif

First time ive seen it....with 18000 + posts under your belt buddy it might be a wise move to go outside and enjoy Phuket......you ever watched 'The Truman Show'?? The scene at the end might strike a cord with you.

I think its a worthy topic. Just curious to see how everyone else acts in Phuket

I think Nikitas is doing OK smile.png .

    Pity about the food.

Ever since they cut rimlay out of the food, they went downhill.

Pity you cannot own land freehold in Thailand the bar/ restaurant next door is a golden opportunity for someone willing to invest, personally i would never invest in a business unless i could own the land it sits on

Nikita's has the perfect spot (on Rawai beach front). Right on the beach, so enjoys the sea breeze and view.

I suspect that Nikita's will buy up any available adjoining land - they'd be stupid not to. Why allow a neighbour to compete for their market?

Getting back to the topic - I too feel sorry for the tourists as I doubt it crossed their mind to check for days on which it was illegal for bars to sell alcohol. But, they can have their meal at the hotel and buy beers/wine there. They may not be happy about this, preferring to 'get out and about', but it will only be a couple of days from their holiday.

The Thai family at Rimlay own Nakitas, and the falang owner is married to the daughter (so I hear...correct me if Im wrong) and rents from Rimlay, There was a fallout because the food in Nakitas used to come from Rimlay, now there is a barricade between the two joints... It will be interesting to see what happens when the lease runs out and the inlaws move in...I like both Nakitas and Rimlay for different reasons...I can watch the footy in Nakitas, but the food is half the price in Rimlay and more Thai style...not the touristy green curry, and chicken and cashew nuts that everyone thinks is awesome thai cuisine

  15. I had an incident many moons ago, I had a fight with an old girlfriend at the old 'Laguna' near Nai Harn lake. I stormed out of the bamboo shack and (wrongly) hoiked my stubby into the bushes. A grand total of 5 drops of beer landed on some Thai guys Toyota Fortuna, I was quickly surrounded, I did a few sorrys and kor tort kaps, I even had to go against all my principles and heavily 'wai' them. Luckily I always leave my keys in the car, I pulled off a side step that would have made Peter Sterling proud and jumped in the car. A pursuit then unfolded with a couple of bikes and the fortuna chasing me through the back streets of Nai Harn, I lost them on the Wiset road though. My Canadian friend that was with me at the time went bush and hid until dawn and when the coast was clear he too jumped in his car and booted off....I saw the same Thai guys out many times after, perhaps loosing face or winning face only lasts a day or 2

Moral of the story is if you accidently F_k up be prepared to move and move quickly

  16. The entire incident could have been avoided if the BF just had a laugh and walked on by.

The entire incident could have been avoided if the tuk-tuk driver said nothing.

The Aussie was offended by words, he resorted to grabbing the "tuk tuk driver by the neck." Sorry but that's wrong move in Patong or most anywhere else in the world.

Yes especially when Tuk Tuk drivers act the same as a pack of Soi/street dogs

When the fight starts there is a often a war cry heard from these ice fueled morons, they yell 'maa moo' which translates (when you get the tones right) to dog fight, this attracts the other packs of men to join in....keep an ear out for that one and if you hear it ...leg it

  17. I have never had a problem with getting or having a drink in Pubs/ hotels or taverns in Australia and never been given a plastic glass i must go to the wrong type of premises

Fremantle most pubs serve out of plastic cups...all pubs have to after 10pm..not sure about restaurants..pier hotel in Port Hedland its the white plastic kiddie cups for spirits. No double shots in mixed drinks...no shot glasses any more...any 'neat spirits' are served over ice...you could make the 'rules of australian pubs' into a novel....i hope phuket never ends up this way...but the actions of isolated mugs could change that

Never out drinking alcohol after 10PM unless in a restaurant, the esplanade hotel and the brewery pub on the waterfront in fremantle were both using glasses 18 months ago, not interested in venues that have to have bouncers at the door to control the twits who go to this type of establishment

I enjoy the company of decent people not loud mouth drunks looking for a argument

Ill have to try the SP....never been there...little creatures was always too busy for my liking

  18. I have lived here for 24yrs, 20yrs in Patong moved away to Kathu.

I'm Australian I have only been involved in 1 incident with a Tuk Tuk driver 15yrs ago and that was because I didn't keep my mouth shut, I should have walked away lesson learnt... sometimes a hard thing to do but confrontation with a local entrepreneur will ultimately end in violence.

Not defending the tuk tuk drivers but can you imagine the <deleted> they have to deal with 24/7.

To be offended by a lurid comment to your tg from another guy in a place like Patong just cracks me up I mean please get a grip!

Patong is full of alcohol fuelled bravado and it effects every race & colour, I don't think Australians are being singled out to be assaulted but I do think they would be best to keep the trap shut and walk on bye go have another drink & enjoy what fantasy island has to offer.

The drivers need to be educated that falangs get sick to death of hearing the moronic chant of 'tuk tuk' 'taxi taxi' when its quite clear that Patong is Thailands biggest exclusive car park for these type of vehicles.
