  1. Hi

I need to translate some Facebook posts - Thai maybe with Laos/Issan dialect to English, but the auto translate in Facebook just does not make sense (to me).

Have tried cutting and pasting into online translators, but everyone differs slightly or worse!

Any recommendations for best online translator?

Also got some small audio files I need translated.

Please PM me if you think you can help.

    Maybe some payment?

    Cheers

  2. So many postings online about all this - so please forgive me if this sort of scenario below has already been answered;

    I have 2 UK passports.

UK Passport #1 - I have used for a couple of years for entering Thailand - each time on 30 day visa exempt. Interspersed with over 2 months absence - I do not work in Thailand.

UK Passport #2 - can then be sent off to obtain visa for entering other countries as required for my job. (Although it does contain the odd Thailand stamp from about 2 years ago).

I am currently in Thailand on UK Passport #1, on a 30 day visa exempt stamp which expires about a week before I need to fly out again. I have email proof of onward flight ticket.

So this time i need to remain a few days more and my plan was to do an out/in, but now that idea seems scuppered.

Unless anybody in the know can confirm I would/should be ok to use UK Passport #2 on a border run ?????

    Appreciated

  3. Hi

Have read old posts for "Best Tailor In Pattaya", and hope some posters can update any tailor recommendations (Pattaya area) from recent experience.

Usual stuff - Suit and Shirts.

    Material Quality?

    Fitting?

    Further fittings required?

Costs? - Indications of prices paid would also be appreciated.

    Cheers

  4. Thanks for all the replies, (except from one poster, which stopped me from checking back for a few days - post(s) now removed - thanks Mods).

And particularly Thailaw and bkkjames for their good input - even though they seem to disagree.

Also I now have the proper name of the other school the wife said we should look at "Feenit".(Phoenix - ha ha).

Good point raised was not requiring to cross/travel Sukhumvit. And there is a big chance it may only be for 1 semester (2 maximum) as we will be moving abroad if all goes to plan. Yes, unfortunately its all down to which is the best of the "affordable" schools. Will definately check Phoenix and Maryvit out.

    Cheers

  5. Satit Udom Seuksa School - Pattaya.

Moved house, and this school is about the nearest (affordable).

We were going to enroll the kid in time for the upcoming new semester. The wife asked around and heard some poor reports.

Fast turnover of teachers, children left to "freestyle" - whatever that means, poor discipline, maybe that's what it means.

And after reading another TV thread on this same school, albeit from 2008, we are having second thoughts.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, would appreciate if anybody who has had recent dealings with this school give us the low-down.

    Has it improved I wonder?

Also, if not Satit School, which other alternative school should we be looking at, near to the same area (and approximate same tuition fee's).

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Use your embassy if docs for use in foreign country. Most foreign doc recipients won't accept, let understand, some stamp or "notary" from some Thai "lawyer."

    That is not accurate.

We have used the German Thai Law Group on Pattaya-Naklua Road for several documents, and they were accepted at

an Australian probate court, banks in Australia and the US, and a US government agency in Washington.

Cost is less than notarizarion at embassies.

    Thanks WaywardWind

Will also put that one on my list.

  7. Use your embassy if docs for use in foreign country. Most foreign doc recipients won't accept, let understand, some stamp or "notary" from some Thai "lawyer."

    Thanks OMGIminPattaya

Think just an official stamp with notary company name/address and signed in English would do.

Embassy visit would mean a trip to BKK. I dont have the time.

  8. In the past I've used one of the travel agents in Soi Post Office (Beach Road end) to verify copies made from originals.

They have an authorised stamp that they use and which is accepted by the Australian Embassy.

    Thanks Mighty Mouse,

I didnt think of Post Office. That sounds easy and straight forward.

  9. There is a shop on soi 12 naklua that has a sign stating Notary Public.( amongst other things )

About 5 minutes from the Dolphin roundabout( if driving/riding) soi 12 will be on your left hand side

They are about 5 shops up on the right hand side as you enter the soi, very near a motorbike rental shop.

I`ve never used them and don`t know them, just happened to notice the sign.smile.png

Thanks seasia will put that on my list of locations to check.

  10. Hi all,

i wanted to post a topic for since these is one here, i shall ask here.

i intend to buy a townhouse cost about 1.5m

im married with my thai wife in thailand.

can someone give me a brief explaination if i am able to take home loan from bank and possible over a 5 years period.

    thanks a million

If your asking if Farang can take out a mortgage - not sure - probably depends on individual circumstances.

But you can get the wife to take out a mortgage, with you as "backer". (caveat: beware of pitfalls)
