  1. I think the fact that  she was forced to remove the girls painting , by threats yet again , shows the ban is far from working.

I agree  that locals did not burn so much during the ‘ Ban ‘ but the big corporations certainly did. And locals burnt more before and after the ban.

And to to try to blame faulty recording machines and the weather, is exactly what the authorities say ?????

  2. A good and influential Thai lady tried to organise a meeting in Chiang Mai to raise awareness of the problem , and was threatened and told to cancel it or else.

March and April have been much worse this year. A lot of the days it’s been above 150 for the small 2.5 size particles which are the killers. Strange it coincides with the sugar Kane crop harvesting.

    Right now its 179 ??

Most Thai poorer kids have no protection and breathe this air 24/7 and one day they will suffer the consequences, but the men with the money don’t care. ☹️

It’s the one thing that I hear from many people which may cause them to sadly leave Chiang Mai

  3. The PM 2.5 levels have been way above 100 for a few days now ☹️

They announce a ban weeks in advance , so the burning is now spread over 3 months instead of 1. I feel very sorry for the majority of people who do not have air purifiers in their homes.

My daughters school ( international ) has already got their air purifiers out of storage and put them in the classrooms  and don’t allow the children to play outside when the air quality is so poor.

I hope the local schools also do this, but probably not ☹️

Very sad that the people in charge don’t seem to care about the long term health implications. It’s the one thing that may cause us to leave here one day ?

  4. Chiang Mai Runway 36 has an ILS and 18 and 36 both have R Nav approaches and the difference in flight path is negligible.

I think the problem is two fold. Firstly as mention by others there are far more flights , particularly from China , Korea and soon Qatar so the overall noise is worse. Also some of these planes are heavier with fuel due to the longer flights, and therefore don't climb as quickly , so again more noise for those of us on the ground.

Sadly  it's probably going to get worse rather than better so chose where you move to carefully. ?

  5. Most B777's and other aircraft have a toilet just outside the flight deck door. Although there is a strong door between the passenger cabin and the flight deck , the pilots need to come out to use the toilet , and cabin crew need to take food and drink into the pilots . On a long flight this means there are a number of chances for someone to storm into the flight deck.

  6. One of the news reports quoted that the crew of the plane said they had stopped in BKK on the way to N Korea on friday . Perhaps the stop at BKK on the way back was planned , but due to info from 'somewhere' :) they were not allowed to land at Suvamabhumi Airport . Having fuel planned for SVB and with the weather fine here they would only have enough fuel to divert to somewhere nearby plus reserve fuel . Therefore they would have to land in thailand and probably the Thai Authority requested that a plane they thought had guns on board should land at an airport where the military where based , ie Don Muang.

Every flight has to file a flight plan with its destination . If BKK was the intended refuel stop then then BKK would have been filed as its initial destination . Before leaving BKK the crew would have to file a new flight plan for that flight , stating its next destination . Anserws on a postcard for where that might have been :D

  7. I have flown B747 for 15 years and love it , but I am sure the A380 is a great aircraft too. A couple of years ago a larger aircraft than the 747 looked a good idea , the way world travel was increasing. Sadly we all live in a very different world now , where most airlines are fighting just to survive.

If Thai do cancel thier order for A380's maybee they will regret it when things do , hopefully ,pick up.

Happy and safe flights to all :)
