  1. Other thing is I am totally pissed off by local governments announcing wave warnings for every minor quake following (there have been at least 20 quakes since that day, no fakes, but issuing an alarm for everyopne of them???

I got pain in my feet from walking up and down the mountain and no shoes in Kamala.

Typical, now after this unfortunate disaster, it is necessary it seems by some individuals to find a scapegoat to blame. So, yes we boot out this earthquake expert

and everyone els in that office and destroy their careesr and that will make these people happy. "I got pain in my feet from walking up and down the mountain and no shoes in Kamal" Oh yeah! Incredible! that Tracer0 makes this statement in light of more that 150,000 dead. Again, this just a bunch of spoiled farang parasites who have not helped in any way with the aftermath but sit in beer bars drinking, stinking and picking up bar girls.

  2. As we all know this is theatrics on the part of the government to be hard on the

'illict sex trade" in thailand. World opinion is forcing the government to look like it is doing something against this. All the "do gooders" that come to Thailnd who are hired and

paid by these "moral" religious churches and organization have been pressuiring the government to act against the "sex trade". As we all know these people make a living from this activity and give not one baht personally to these young women they are pretending to save. I alone have given thousands of dollars to them. We all have. The government I think wants to take this to this very situation so that they "the world" can see that they tried. It is obvious and evident that the true powers that be understand the important economic function of

"the sex trade" in thailand at this present moment in its economic development. Thanks to this trade millions of billions of dollars have entered Thailand since the early sixties. What is the alternativ? "national economic collapse" To do what? To please the uptight moral minority outside of thailand?

    I don't think so.

    Sincerely,

  3. "Gang rape and sexual abuse is much more of a norm here in S.E. Asia (and in other traditional societies) then it is in the West."

The person that wrote the above is not aware that statiscially a women is raped and beaten in the United states every minute. Rape is also a very common fact in Europe.

This remark reveals how us westerners in our "minds" think that we are in some way more

civilised when in fact we have recently in the 20th century have had the cruelest and the most murderous wars in the history of humanity on this planet as well as having destroyed and enslaved and raped millions of women through colonialism. I am sorry that this woman got raped, but beware of how you use this fact to justify all your hidden "cultural superiority" stupidity. I suggest you read history and be aware of what the "civilised west" has down to traditional societies throughout the world since 1492. Also I blame the west for the "hollywoodization"of violence and rape through films and T.V. and inculcating "compulsive consumerism" in what were for the most part much more serene and spiritual societies in Asia, Africa and the Americas before western barbarian hords came out of their caves conquering, raping and pillaging the rest of the world. :o

  4. Phuketrichard, say what is on your mind, you don't have to apologize to anybody and stand your ground when others come around hollering their put-on moral rage. Also a good recommendation is to also think about what you say. Now, I think that as americans we pay taxes and some of us have limited time in thailand, so we should have efficient access to our embassies and be able to wait in air-conditioned hallways with our own holy U.S. of A rif raf.

Hey you guys, planetvoyager here going to Pattaya again since August, 03. I stayed at a nice place called the Residence Hotel on Jomtien Rd. You should try it. It had a great pool, great staff, great rooms with a great view (the big buddha mountian right in front) and great food. It was 35dollars a night and very guest friendly. I had a wonderful Tg every night. I am thinking of going there again but I am thinking of giving another place a shot. You veterans out there have any ideas? The hotel, does not have to be fancy, just be in a good in location, have a good staff, be guest friendly and especially, have a clean good size pool. I am thinking of Ma Maison which is on Soi 7. What do you Pattaya cognisanti think?

    Sincerely,

Now on my eight month travelling the planet.
