  1. If its a bluetooth mouse like I have it sometimes looses the pairing with the PC and you need to go into you're bluetooth setup and reconnect it again. Mine has done this once when the batteries died.

Yes, it is a bluetooth mouse, and yes it has lost its pairing once or twice before which warranted an installation of the software that it came with. This time around, after changing to new batteries, it still is detectible to both laptops and the office desktop I tried it on. Problem is there seems to be a problem with the laser underneath because the cursor in the screen is unresponsive.

  2. Possibly a dumb suggestion - did you check the batteries?

Yes, one of the first things I checked. The computer detects the device but the cursor does not respond.

Having lived here in LOS for a while, I have realized that there is no such thing as a "dumb question". I was once asked if I wanted any cheese on my cheeseburger. :)

  3. I believe an official distributor in Thailand for Logitech is

    http://www.buycoms.com/index.asp

Most any computer shop can order from this firm. You can contact them about warranty service for Logitech products.

    Cheers, Bob!

There should be a sticker that tells u the name of the distributor. If not, goto panthip and check.

or better buy a new mouse, must be cheaper than all the efforts you made for one mouse.

Cheers for the suggestion, Mark. The logo is smudged and incomprehensible. If it were an ordinary mouse, I really would not bother.

  4. Received a wireless Logitech mouse as a present, and it has stopped functioning after only a few months. There is a warranty sticker which says it is guaranteed for 2 years but it does not indicate which shop it was purchased.

I've done a search for Logitech Thailand, to no avail. Perhaps there is an authorized dealer here in Bangkok which honors warranty claims? Any leads very welcome.

    Cheers!

  5. According to their websites:

    Pajero 2WD 2.5 L Diesel = 1,070,000 bt

    Fortuner 2WD 2.7 Benzene = 1,149,000 bt

    Fortuner 2WD 3.0 Diesel = 1,249,000 bt

I see several farang here drive a Toyota Fortuner, and most are quite satisfied. Compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, even the Thais I ask would also opt for the Fortuner. Are there any Pajero owners here who could share their experience(s)?

Rumours though are that Mitsubishi after sales service is inexistent. Any first hand experience? I also know that Toyota has better resale value but, will the Pajero be worth the price difference, also taking into account that it is equipped with a DVD / LCD screen?

  6. Cheers all for your replies. JOD, thanks for the link. Taking the car to the service centre was my last option. I was hoping to be able to access the airducts by myself thinking that a fruit might have found its way there and has rotten.

  7. The a/c ducts used to emit a musty smell especially when the compressor was switched off, but would go away after a few seconds. This time around, as soon as the a/c is switched on, a very overpowering smell of a rotting acidic fruit like oranges or grapes, and it does not go away.

I already took the glove compartment off to check on the air filter, but nothing there. I reckon something must be wedged in the air ducts. Where else should I look into?

    Cheers.

  8. But when I think about the Thai people I know and see here, they almost never seem to wear lace shoes.... It's always the slip-on/slip off varieties and sandals, etc etc.. And of course women tend to wear those styles anyway, as opposed to men.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but could that be the likely reason shoe laces are hard to come by here... that Thai people aren't big on wearing laced shoes???

Because Thais have to take off/put on their shoes at least 99 times a day. I too, have somehow adapted.

  9. You know you are in Thailand .......

...... whe strangers go out of their way to help you

...... when the cab driver gives you candy or gum along with your change

...... when ppl touch their ears when they burn their fingers.

...... when workers mix concrete using a hoe.

...... when your host peels prawns for you.

...... when your barber runs the razorblade through your forehead and earlobes.

...... when you don't have to fill petrol yourself

...... when your Thai friend has a new name every time you meet because a monk told her to change it.

...... when a faulty circuit breaker causes blackouts, so the mother in law invites monks instead of an electrician

...... when you pay for damages because a stupid motorbike hits your parked car

...... when you come back home with tons of plastic bags after shopping

...... when you cannot renew your driver's license before it expires

  10. I am on the hunt for a Nintendo Wii and will be grateful for any input/feedback. It also seems that there are 2 different versions available (Japan & US), the latter being 3,000 baht more expensive. Is the price difference justifiable? What exactly will I be paying for if I buy the US version?

Does anyone know what the current prices are? I was quoted 12,500 for the US version last week at The Mall. Will it be best to give MBK a visit?

    Cheers all!

  11. Run the Registry Editor (regedt32.exe)

To disable automatic disk checking at Windows startup through registry, go to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

In the right hand pane, double click BootExecute.

The default value of the key is autocheck autochk *

    * means every drive is checked for consistency. Just add /K:C at the end before *. /K switch will disable autocheck on C: drive at Windows startup. So the final value should look like this:

    autocheck autochk /k:C *

    Cheers Tywais!

I just realized that the HD is still under warranty. Would it be wise to send it back , or is it even possible to have it replaced? I'm afraid they might do more damage than good.

  12. This suggests that you have an iffy Dynamic Volume, is this drive part of a RAID or mirror configuration??

No, the HD is not part of a RAID or mirror config.

Thanks for the link. It says click "reactivate volume", but after right-clicking on the volume, "reactivate" is unclickable.

  13. Windows does an auto check disk every time during booting up, but shows NO bad sectors. According to Disk Manager, the HD is "healthy", but "at risk" (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark) I've already backed the data up onto another disk, after which I did a reformat (twice actually). But it still shows that the disk is "at risk". What exactly does "at risk" mean? And what should I do to get rid of it? The HD in question is a new(ish) WD 500GB SATA II.

    Cheers!
