  1. I was absent for some time and left my house vacant

Now on return I find most of the door jams and some of the cupboards destroyed by termites

The pool is a disaster also.

Roof was leaking but found a Thai Team that fixed that and did a good job.

I asked for a quote to do the rest of the house including painting inside and out but the quote was just ridiculous

Anyone know a Thai Company that does this type of work but not charge a ridiculous price, I would be happy to know

Located in Siam Country Club area

  2. I have been back in Australia for over 2 years, before returning I set my mobile number to Roaming, now I have no problem operating my Kasikorn Account from here as I can receive the necessary OTP when required, I use Kasikorn account to Top Up my Mobile Number when required.

If you have a Thai friend you should get him or her to Activate an AIS Sim, set roaming up on it and send it to you and then register that number with your Bank, the fact that the number is not in your name should not make any difference.

I may be able to help further if you need it

  3. I thank all for your help but I have since contacted a well known Thai Legal Firm and here is a Snippet of what they said;

"Firstly, it is true that you will need to come to Thailand to sign the will in person before two Thai witnesses.

Second;y, please note that "TRUST LAW" is not applicable under Thai law. Kindly be advised that a will drafted under Thai law will be good for the properties located in Thailand. The property(s) located in other jurisdiction should be listed in a will drafted under such country's law.

Unlike in European countries, it is not required that the will drafted under Thai law must be signed before and/ or kept by a notary public", They went on to say"
Our service fee for drafting, revising or updating a will starts at 30,000 THB + 7%VAT for one person and 40,000 THB + 7% for husband and wife's will. This varies depending on the complexity of the will. The will will be in both Thai land English language"
Well the thing is, the Thai Lawyer who prepared the original Will in Thai and English only charged me 5000baht Total.
    So who is right?

  4. I have a Thai WIll in place drawn up legally by a Thai Lawyer.

Problem is I need to make changes to my Will but I am back in my own Country and not able to return to Thailand due to medical reasons.

I contacted my Thai Lawyer who prepared the Will but they are quite firm that I need to be there in person to sign changes to the Will.

    Can anyone help?

  5. I need a lot of work done on my teeth.

I am in Pattaya and am yet to find a Dentist that speaks excellent English.

My Thai is hopeless so I need to find that English speaking dentist to explain fully my dental problems.

Any one know of such a Dentist in Pattaya?

    Appreciate any replies

  6. I have a large arched doorway between 2 rooms in my Condo.

I need to find someone who can install a door, being a large doorway some framework would have to be done to accomodatew the door.

Appreciate if anyone knows of a tradesman who could do this.

  7. I am one of the unlucky person who tried High Speed Thai.

I was very excited at first when reading the description, so after a while i decided to order the programme, being comforted by the no question asked money back guarantee.

I quickly received 2 DVDs, which i installed right away, or i should rather say copy. Because HighSpeedThai is not a programme. It's a bunch of files. 5GB of data. And my disk count is giving me around 12 000 files (probably including some of the inside software files).

So basically you buy this programme thinking you will get something fully integrated like Rosetta or other language software. But this one is VERY different. You basically goat a 1000+ black and white text only PDF file (yes over one thousand pages of text!), and a bunch of files in different folders that you need to open one by one) and you quickly end up having your pdf reader open, your music player open, your video player open, the few related folders open, and on top of that you have the Anki software. Anki is something like the Rosetta software, but a very basic version. Again text only.

OK. I had bought it, so i said why not give it a try anyway. Or at least try to. Believe me it is the most user unfriendly system i have ever seen in my life! After a couple of weeks, I did contact the maker of this system to suggest him some much needed improvement, but he constantly replied by copying clients testimonials (which of course were all positive about his programme) and more or less saying that his programme couldn't be any better and that everybody is happy about it. I was kind of "motivated" to give it another try, and passed the 30 days money back guarantee without really paying attention. After a while, and many attempts to try learning with this unfriendly system, i decided to give up and contacted again the maker of the programme asking him about the money back guarantee.

Again i had a flow of clients testimonials who were all agreeing that this is the best programme in the world to learn Thai. May be I am the only one to find it absolutely off-putting and uninviting. I was always told that learning should be a fun process, and the 4 other languages i speak have been learnt in a fun way.

Having said that, the maker of the programme offered me a deal, that if i complete 10 lessons and still don't like the programme, he would give my money back. I did accept the challenge, and forced myself through the 10 lessons. Passed the calvary of a couple of hundred pages of plain text in PDF format, and the juggling with files and folders, i completed the 10 lessons. But our programme maker was still not satisfied, and wanted to know all the details of my boring learning, adding here and there very positive testimonials of other clients.

So i just gave up and forgot about asking my money back. It is just not worth the ordeal really.

So may be it is just me not liking this programme. I don't know. If any of you wish you buy my version, I will be more than happy to get rid of it at a discounted price. I would even let you try it before you buy and show you how the whole thing works. I wouldn't want you to feel tricked the way i did!

  8. I am in Australia, and I am due to fly out tomorrow, 1 night in Bangkok and 9 nights in Pattaya, havent cancelled yet, but am considering it. Any thoughts??

Pattaya should be safe enough, shouldnt it?

I am Australian but live in Pattaya and currently in Australia visiting family, due to fly back to Thailand on Monday.

Pattaya is perfectly safe, and Bangkok for that matter, just don't go where the protesters are, contact me for a chat if you like.
