  1. Can you PM details, when you say OUR materials and OUR platform ?

Do you make exceptions to the (sorry to be blunt *stupid* rule about white faces), some Chinese out there must understand that hiring polyglots is better than people who don't even know the grammar of their own native language ? Btw, I am Belgo-Thai and Asian looking.

  2. Hi fellow Asean neighbours,

I am seeking for a piece of advice, relating to blog/website.

I know there are thousands of available free starting platforms, I just want to get an expert opinion on where to start my blog/English resources websites, which eventually I could easily convert into a paid service.

Having no knowledge of how these things work, I am hoping that one day I can easily transport all the webdata I am creating into my own paid website, meaning to a not overcomplicated domain name.

Please let me know, I have tried a few out there, but what is your simplest recommended starting point ?

    Cheers

  3. Hi Thaivisa group,

I plan to rent a place a start teaching kids but I have yet to get a full grasp on what is required legally for that.

I figure someone here has all the knowledge or could redirect me to a website (it can be in thai as well).

I have the thai nationality and believe this makes things easier.

So far I have read a rule saying that if you teach under X students (is the number seven ?), you are not falling under the requirements of a tutoring school.

Hope someone can provide me with all the juicy details.

    Thank you in advance,

    Alex.

  4. Hi folks,

After sleeping a couple of years (sounds pathetic i know) on a single mattress on the floor, i decided i wanted to buy me a decent mattress.

Sealy - audrey is quite pricy, i wanna make sure it's not cheaper somewhere else.

I saw it at 69 999 baht minus 25% at a furniture fair at muang thong.

    Any experts in here?

  5. Was I swindled by a business?

I decided to upgrade my 7 year old tv - still working (jvc) with a 55 inches curved samsung tv for 39.999 baht, big time discount at the appliance fair (impact muang thong thani).

Then i looked it up on lazada (website) and found it 5,000 baht cheaper. So much for the special price.

    Is Lazada a trustful website?

  6. There is no special visa. But she can apply for an extension of stay, cost Bt 1,900 at Thai immigration, with your birth certificate, house registration ID. She will need to obtain and non-imm 'O' visa first. She can;t legally work unless you can get a work permit approved, but that has high requirements.

Thank you all for the replies.

Let me go back on this one, it seems getting non-imm visa will be easy with my thai ID.

Then you mean, she needs to have 400K in a bank account at the moment she renews her visa on a yearly basis ?

Exstention of stay costs 1,900 for a year ?

That's all I wanted to know thanks.

  7. Dear and O revered Thaivisa,

Please help advise about the following situation.

    1. I am 32 years old with Thai nationality.

    2. My mother is Belgian.

    3. I wish to take care of her here, she is about to reach 55 years old.

Can I apply for a special visa as she is my mother, what are the requirements ?

Also, if she wishes to work here by selling food or whatever, can she work for me ?

    Thank you for your advice.

  8. Hi there,

I have tried many different sources.

People have told me to check at Khao Sarn Road... there is also a fair in two days but...

If anybody knows where to buy a diabolo, please tell me. I need it as a X-mas present for kids at a school next Saturday 14th December.

For those of you who haven't had a childhood:

  9. Dear folks,

I think I've made a mistake. I've signed a contract agreeing to pay for the renovation (building) not knowing how much it would cost or when I would have to pay for it.

I received a paper, which was slid under my door saying I have to pay 13333. 37 baht for this year, retroactive to January. But I've been here only since 1st May and it has to be paid for the 15th August T_T.

The close mentioning this was written on the side of the contract. When I asked the information counter, they said only the owners should be paying that amount. Not the renter.

So I'm wondering if I should try to negotiate with the owner or prepare to move and lose my 8000 baht deposit ?

Here is what is looks like for those who speak Thai (attached file).

Thank for your opinion on this.

  10. The thing is I'm 30 on July 19th... which makes the whole situation different! But when you say 'in the year' I feel uneasy about it.

This is quite a hateful thing though, knowing that this military service thing will be terminated soon and that those corrupted military officers will now have to do some real work...

Plus they told me that the rule for the people over 30 years old isn't really applicable. I was under the tabien baan but I simply never registered for anything and I always used my Belgian passport for everything.

No receipt of course, this was asking for their help...

  11. I think you have to get an exemption document from the army draft board. If you are now over 30, this should be quite easy, since you are no longer eligible for conscription. If you are under 30, it may be more difficult and cost some money. Alternatively you could see another side of life and join up. They love to have Thais with special language skills that can help with teaching or liaison with foreign militaries and would probably give you a soft job after basic training. If you volunteer I think you only need to serve six months.

Samran knows about this, as he went through the process of getting an exemption as an over 30 year old.

5 years ago, the prospect would have tempted me but now I just need that document for a job which interview I aced (oh this is not a real verb) ^^

I'm 29 and the clock is ticking.... birthday on 19 July but I had to pay (15 000) already. The thing is that they can't give me that document because I didn't do the Lor Dor.

I'll be given a special document which I'm afraid the company will look at with doubtful eyes!

  12. If he does get called up, he can pay to get out of it. Either beforehand, or (in the even that he goes in) before he draws the 'balls'. Advice would be to leave him off the tabien bahn. That's what they go off of when they call up potential soldiers for the draft. I was not placed on the tabien bahn until after I was too old for the draft, and I was never called up.

Man you need to tell me how this works... I have problems with this... I'm 29 and when I apply for a job they ask for a document which I can't provide. Can you get the Sor Dor 43 ?

  13. Hi folks,

I seem to have a problem obtaining a document for work. It's the Sor Dor 43 or 9...

The fact is, I'm half-belgian and I got my thai nationality at the age of 25. I then applied for a new job which required the military service documents.

Since I hadn't done it, I went to my amphur and let some money fall on a table... they then gave me a document (with my thumb stamp on it) but not the Sor Dor 43. It seems they can't give me that document.

The company has never seen a case like that and they keep on asking for a document I can't obtain. At the amphur, they said since I got my thai citizenship after my belgian one, I can't get Sor Dor 43 but they will produce a new type of document, for my special case.

Has anyone met these difficultlies ?

Please let me know/advise me if there's a way to get around this...

    Thanks a lot

  14. Hi there,

Anybody with a piece of advice about how to start a small business as a photocopy room in the payathai area ?

I'd like to do that because there are many students in the area and not so many places to make cheap photocopies.

There is that 2 floor place (it used to be an internet cafe) and I was wondering how difficult it was to find someone to work there for me... ?

The rent of the place is 30 000 baht per month but I haven't negociated with the onwer yet.

Anybody has that kind of business ? I was thinking of buying my own photocopying machines and not going through a franchise although I'll listen carefully to any recommendations.

I wonder what kind of budget you need to have as a starter (I have 300 000 baht).

    Thks for your adivce
