I use AirBnb a lot in several countries. I think AirBnb knows there are some hosts that are no good and relay on a customer to complain before they can cull them from their system. They will not hesitate to make things right with a customer when a problem occurs. So, other than a hassle, you will get your $$ back.
I have had only a very few bad experiences and will continue to use AirBnb for most of my travel. I used them once in BKK and had no problem. Read the cancel policy and customer reviews before picking. Email the host and ask questions! Leaves you with an email record you can use if there are problems later.

I've had it for 10 years now. 24/7 in both ears. Best thing I found to manage it (NOT cure it) is listening to custom notched music. Make your own and use ear buds to play. You can spend $5000 + to have an audiologist make it, but you can do for yourself easy enough. Do a Google search on notching music.
This basically starts to train your brain to cancel out the ringing frequency from your frequency spectrum. You need to get a frequency generator app on your phone and use it to match and identify exactly what frequency your tinnitus is at. Once that is known, you use a good mp3 editer and remove this frequency from your music. It will sound the same to you, but with this freq now missing from your music, your brain will learn to not listen to this freq which reduces or can eliminate your tinnitus.
This is new therapy developed by a company in I think Sweden that has had good success with this for many people. I use it and for me it knocked mine down by maybe 50%, but I still have it. Worth a try.

I had this same problem in China. They come in to play cards for hours and use wi-fi. Then they order hot water to drink (free).
I posted a sign that customers must purchase a drink or food and card playing is not allowed. Biz is good and the riff raff are gone.
Businesses should be allowed to do whatever they feel is right to maintain paying customers. These PITA people only piss off paying customers and ruin your business.

I used to travel there several times a year, but have stayed away the last 4 years and travel to much more pleasant places in Asia. Thailand has degraded into a crap hole place, even the Thai people have changed for the much worse. I do not feel welcome or safe there anymore. You all can have it.
I wouldn't live in Thailand on a bet.

Yes, China IS better. As far as healthcare is concerned, I go to Bumrungrad for check ups and care. Then I head out of LOS as fast as I can. This is also the reason I stay plugged into this forum. I want to be informed before I travel into LOS.

Any one tell me where I can get a UV filter and decent particulate filter system, the ones I've seen at building supply stores are the type that deliver a pathetic trickle from a 5 or 6mm outlet.

I'm in Nong Khai, but havnt been satisfied with filters here in thai for heavy metal, parasite,particulate filtering. I'm in the states and will bring back a Berky filter.

I guess we can add you to the TV bonehead list! This is a certified INDEPENDANT testing lab that has no relation to this filter company as I stated in my post. I also have test data from the Univ of Arizona, Louisiana Univ, State of California water test labs, as well as a few others.
Finally I could care less of you believe it or not. Sticking your head in the sand does not make the problem of unsafe water go away. Go back to swilling your brews and don't worry about it.

Thanks for the info and pics. I am in Buriram and have both sediment and calcium in my bore water. I believe I need to get a salt based filtering system for the calcium which is quite costly in initial outlay (29,000) and for the salt. Hopefully that will also reduce the sediment. I believe the government water here is poor and similar to your water.
I use filters that take out the following as tested by an independent lab. Costs me about $0.01 per gallon to process. All beneficial minerals are left intact.

Filtering sediment from your water does little to nothing producing safe water. You can make it "look" clean, but it changes nothing as to the chemicals, metals, VOC's, virus or bacteria you are ingesting. I suggest you take more important matters in hand concerning your water.
Those filters in the pic are simple fiber micro filters to remove particulate matter. Wasting your $$ there I'm afraid.

While I agree to build new toilets, why not another idea first. Provide ass gaskets in the toilets and have Chinese signage as to their use? Then see what happens. Chinese do not want to touch their asses where other asses have been. This is the basis for their squatting habits.
Pissing is another problem. Chinese cannot aim for s%#t! That part I have no clue. They piss everywhere but in the toilet all over China. This is one of the great mysteries of China.

I live in Kunming the past 10 years. I don't work so I cannot speak of working conditions. Formost question would be to beach or not to beach. No beaches in Kunming.
That being said, I definitely prefer China to Thailand, and most definitely prefer Kunming to Phuket. I spent a lot of time in Thailand and a few years ago decided not to return. It has plummeted downhill in comfort and lifestyle. Thai people do not want you there and make this attitude clear. I miss the food but I do not miss the "Thainess". It is also an unstable govt with an equally negative attitude towards foreigners.
Be vary aware the two are completely different as far as expat living conditionas. Chinese really do like Americans in particular and are generally very nice. Petty crime is a national sport in both places so that is a wash. Food in Kunming is good but not healthy, Thai foods is way better. Living cost in Kunming is much cheaper and I think the girls are prettier and much more approachable in Kunming.
Read up in GoKunming.com and ask questions there. In the end I suggest you visit a month in each place and see how it goes for you. Both places have good and bad, but Kunming still comes out on top.

Most Chinese think western toilets are dirty and do not want to touch their ass on a toilet seat. They will stand on the seat to crap, spewing crap all over the top of the toilet. Then they don't care to touch it either to clean it up and just leave a mess. TIC

Please, somebody post the dress code for the beach. Judging from the video, they should do something more sane and pass a dress code law for the beach and stop this chair nonsense.

Most Chinese tourists are uneducated villagers without any idea of traveling etiquette. Mao successfully destroyed any remnants of the Chinese culture long ago, leaving it's people to live a self-centered and selfish lifestyle. They operate in a vacuum with no reguards to anyone else around them.
So now they spend ridiculous amount of money paid to tour companies and expect nothing but the "King" treatment everywhere they go. THEN, after all this complain bitterly to the tour company in the hopes of getting some refund on their tour package. Meanwhile they travel expecting that everywhere they go to be catered to, and all others to kowtow to their every wish. For Chinese, rules do not apply to them. Even in China, rules or laws do not apply and are no followed. Chinese drivers are a good example of this. Often if stopped by the police, they will not hesitate to slap and fight a policeman. Most police will not confront someone unless there are several officers with them.
Things are changing in China.......slowly. But until China gets serious with punishing law breakers, their behavior will not change. Once outside China, they all assume the rest of the world works the same way.
However, if you (as a farang) confront a Chinese person, they usually will respond positively to adjust their mistake. If you are Asian, they will not lend the same response and become angry or abusive. TIC

It's the same thing as texting while driving. You can't do both safely because you cannot pay attention. If you are spending time at work chatting/texting, you then cannot pay attention to your job.

I design and install HA in China. My systems do much more that Creston, integrating whole house audio& video, security, CCTV, theater, lights, automation. I'm building 2 villas in SW China now.
After people view my property and ask me how much, I tell them if they ask the price then they probably can't afford it.
That being said, my systems cost 30% of what a Creston system runs.
The future is here...now.

You got ripped off at 600 baht. Airport to Nana is 300-350 via meter with traffic. I don't care about the meter. When they scam me with a hacked meter, I throw them 300 baht and walk away. I tell them I will wait if they want to call the police, none ever take me up on that.I went to Thailand last December and I paid 600 baht, which I consider cheap. I want to know how much you pay taxi fare in Japan with the same distance in kilometers.
I'm living in Vietnam and from the place I live to Saigon airport is about 35 kilometers. But the taxi fare is 600,000 VND (30 US).
What happened to Lay tomato flovoured crisps?

They found out they were actually made with real tomatoes. Took off the market until they can come up with a more suitable chemical tomato taste.
