Strange that a 51 year old Brit with heart problems opens up an English school in a run down shop house in some obscure sub-district and stays at the school with his 'personal interpreter' Khun Ziyago and her Japanese husband.

Don't put the guy down. None of us know what motivated him to start these english speaking classes. His personal interpetator has already stated that the deceased was complaing of heart problems and he did not know how much longer he would live.

    RIP to him.

Whats the big deal about them buying subs ??? Its not like any money is coming out of us foreigners pockets. If they want to spend the money its theirs to spend on anything they want. The thai people wanted this gov. and guess what ? they got exactly what they deserve because they dont seem to be able to do anything themselves.

Speak for yourself about "It's not like any money is coming out of us foreigners pockets". I work for a Thai company and therefore pay taxes and I am pretty sure I am not the only one of us foreigners who also live and/or work legally in Thailand. Your comment is, for the most part, inane.

As I mentioned before, private accounts should not be use if involved VATs and Witholding Tax.

I'm in Rayong too. Call DuangNara accounting firm. Look for Nara (she speak good english).

Setting up the company should be around 25k and you can sub-contract your accounting job to her firm for 6k a month.

Registering the company is just tip of the iceberg for doing business in Thailand. Engaging her for accounting services will reduce a lot of headache in future. Till today I had not walk into the revenue department as all is settled by DN. Stamp for contracts, VAT, witholding tax reporting, etc.

First sensible response I have seen. My wife and I have been running a limited company for nearly 9 years, good accountants and a good lawyer is the key. We have very little to do with the administration of the company except to sign on the cross when we get documents such as VAT, Withholding Taxes, Year end Accounts ect. et al from the Accountant.

OMG, not again. Why are they always found naked when murdered?

Where in the article does it mention murder? I guess like a lot of people you always like to look on the bad side and can't accept it for what it might really have been. Feel sorry for people with this type of attitude.

  5. I have used Sadao for many years when the need arose and never had any problems doing a one hour turn around. However, 3 weeks ago I went for a swift turnaround and was refused entry back into Thailand and was given a letter denying me entry. Had to go back out and spend a couple of days in Peneng sorting out a 60 day tourust visa. Seemingly this rule (law) has been in place for many years but the immigration stations have not enforced it.

TAKE IT FROM ME SADAO ARE ENFORCING IT, MINIMUM 1 DAY OUT OF THAILAND BEFORE YOU RETURN AND YOU MUST HAVE A RECOGNISED VISA WHEN YOU WANT TO RE-ENTER.

    Be warned.

Frozen food can be fast food, have you heard of microwaves? And why on earth would a businessman want to buy into political nonsense regarding the boycott of shrimp/ fish products? And just because a Thai owns the company what makes you think he will be immune to the boycott? Perhaps you should read and have a think before typing.

I would imagine that the commercial viability of the company stacks up and looks attractive to a business savvy billionaire, it will be as simple as that. if not he would not be slapping a billion usd on the table.

Seems to be an ever growing trend of foreign companies buying up Western companies. In my view it is a worrying trend and the World needs a bit of balance before the West loses its grip on the World stage.

Why should the West be considered the dominant force in this matter. The balance you refer to should be a balance between the East and the West, not dominance of the West.

I'm not saying that it is the reason for his suicide in this instance after his parents said he felt he was not suited to his job, but I'm sure many Thai students cheat their way to graduation, get a job based on those qualifications, and then find they are out of their depth and can't cope. That would certainly create stress.

His parents did not say that their son was not suited for the job he had been trained.  It was the son who told his parents this.

  8. I am allergic to MSG but there are many more who have no side effects from MSG. It is a standard ingredient in any Thai food and quite common in real Chinese food. Don't quite see why you think you can change the world. If you have scientific proof of the harm MSG can do people then I might sit up and listen but otherwise you are just wasting your time.

  9. Certified Scaffolding Trainer; My Company is looking for scaffolding trainer who must be a Certified Scaffolding Trainer. This is a very short term assignment to train two groups of existing scaffolders who need their skills sharpened with the aid of a trainer. The two training sessions will be held at Laem Chabang (Thailand). It would obviously be preferable if such a person resided in or around Thailand. Anybody who is interested or knows someone who might be please contact me at malcolm.d@stpi.co.th in the first instance. More information will then be made available

  10. My wife has to move address in yellow books.

Go to the current ampur you are registered at, tell them you are leaving and they will remove you from the register and give you two transfer forms. The current jao baan or owner needs to be present.

Take these forms to the new ampur and they'll issue a new yellow book (with the permission of the owners) and transfer you on there.

This is exactly what I did, no hassle as the new owner of our bungalow in Songkhla is a friend. Simply paid a small fee, got a form of some sort and then my wife went to our new Amphur and had the yellow book in her hands after 20 minutes for a THB 20 charge, I didn't even have to tag along. Easy peasy.
