  1. It seems she does not understand how society has changed, and lacks the preparedness to deal with it. Head in the sand and haughty ideals won't do when teen pregnancies and STDs are rampant.

I know what you're saying, and I agree in principle reagrding today's society. However, I don't think Acham Mae is saying "Don't encourage young teens to carry condoms".

I think she is saying that before you, as a parent, appear to condone sex at a young age by suggesting to carry condoms, try to instil some higher moral values. Once those values are taught, by all means teach the young to be safe.

If that is what she is saying, I applaud her.

Same here....no graphics (not even icons), just primitive text in a clumsy format. I, too am in NZ...is that a factor?

  3. Are posts that are deleted by mods kept in some form for later reference?

I ask from curiosity because I can see a potential for dispute if a mod happens to be unproffessional and takes exception to a post for personal reasons.....the poster has no defense or evidence to support an appeal to higher authorities. ?

  4. Hi Support.

I have had this problem, inconsistantly, for several weeks now...... when I reply to a post; I click "reply", write my reply in the text box below the quoted post, "click add reply", and my reply is posted.....except the words I wrote are lost, and half the quotes are lost, as if only the top half of my post is actually published.

Here is an example. Please look at the post I was replying to, look at what was saved to the thread, my edit, and my next post.on the forum

Is it just me or do others have this odd thing too?

  5. Just a case of everyone exploiting everyone else. The girls end up at the bottom of the pile, but I doubt they could be described as an 'innocent' party.

If they had not consented then they are 'innocent' - if they consented to being filmed and those films being distributed and money made from those films sale (and assuming they got a hefty fee) then, yes, they are not 'innocent'. It 'appears' they had not consented and even those at the 'bottom' deserve respect in my opinion.

A "hefty fee"??? I doubt it was so hefty, especially based on the hollow promise of local anonimity.

The biggest worry, though, is how this guy got off multiple chargeable offences.

  6. anti-personnel mines

Is that loud enough for some people? To date, all of the protests have railed about the evil Americans, the abrogation of Mr. Bout's personal liberties, the intrusions of the state into commercial enterprise, etc. and now the full story is coming out. And best of all it is transcribed and recorded for the whole world to see.

Columbia is a signatory of the landmine treaty. As such, any sale of landmines for use in Columbia would be a clear contravention of the applicable law. It would also be a violation of Columbian sovereignty. Where are all the bleaters now?

And just so the whiners don't have any reason to chime up with their usual , but the USA wah, wah, wah chant,, please note that according to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, the U.S. has not used anti-personnel mines since 1991, has had an export ban in place since 1992 and has not produced them since 1997. It is also the world's largest individual contributor for mine action and victim assistance programmes. Seems to me, the USA acted to prevent a sales agent of landmines from continuing to distribute these items.

I'd like to see Mr. Bout explain to a room filled with limbless children why it was ok to sell landmines.

But the "but the USA wah wah wah chant" isn't neccessarily about landmines........but before I "wah wah wah", lets just look at the big question you have left begging: Why was the USA still producing them for a further 6 years after they decided not to use them? The home of capitalism surely wouldn't be producing them to keep jobs in the factories, would they?

And on to the "wah wah wah".......maybe the US follows it's international obligations on the use of landmines (and maybe it only pays lip service when we consider the question above), but it does not on other international law issues, and that is where the "wah wah wah" comes in. But that is for another thread.

  7. anyone can give me some suggestion, what to do now?

    1) Go to your local HomePro and purchase a garden hose.

    2) Go to your local market and purchase an orange.

    3) Invite him to your place.

    4) In front of him proceed to suck the aforementioned orange through the aforementioned hosepipe.

    That should bring him round.

    Ditto

  8. Get down on your knees give him a gobble, clean up and then cook him dinner. Then fetch him cold beers from the fridge all night while he watches footbal.

He will soon fall in love with you!

Spoken like a true example of the shallow, chauvanistic, give-men-a-bad-reputation jerk.

You guys get the women you expect. Good luck to you.

  9. I have much respect for that lady. She has distinguished herself as intelligent, wise, and humanitarian for years.

That defence lawyer was a joke.

Clearly you have not been keeping up with Khunying Pornthip's disgrace on the GT200 issue.

Clearly I haven't. And I don't care. I saw what she did after the tsunami, and I have read and watched documentaries about her work....she has done more than enough good.

Would you care to enlighten us about her "disgrace"?

  10. I think the Thais are battling for the right-wing royalist army's trillions or at least trying to get them to stop bleeding the country dry. Thaksin's billions don't really amount to crap when you compare it against the golden camouflage glow than controls the wealth and lives of all Thais. Just a thought.

Very few Thais will talk about whats going on in my garden.

I have sunflowers and roses. Most of the roses, like all of the sunflowers, love the sun.....they revere the sun. But many of the roses have deep roots in the soil and can get by without too much sunlight.

Some of the roses indeed aspire to be sun-loving sunflowers....but they have serious doubts about tomorrow; when the new sun rises tomorrow, will it be as bright and warm as today's sun? Many roses doubt it, and thus do not want to become sunflowers that rely entirely on the sun.

  11. The shooting occurred on the Western Ring Road, where the assailants fired at Police Lieutenant Rachun in the head and his wife in both eyes.

Provincial Police Bureau 1 Commissioner Police Lieutenant General Krissada Punkhongcheun and forensic experts believe that there were more than two gunmen at the scene.

There was a message there, but for who? Was the mia noi the reason or something else?

That was my first thought too. I think the shooting of both her eyes is significant....so the mia noi angle may be just a coincidence. Perhaps she witnessed something previously, or perhaps it was a supersticious act....

Horrible tragedy, either way. I hope the daughter recovers well.

  12. I reckon that if I was a Muslim Extremist in southern Thailand and the Malay peninsula and my goal was secession from Thailand and the Islamification if SE Asia I would have been stashing explosives around Bangkok for the last 6 months just waiting for a moment like this. To incite civil war amongst the Buddhist ruling elite and country folk would be an ideal way to push their agenda for separation and to bring the southern population over to their way of thinking. I'm not saying this is the case but it seems that a lot of munitions and arms have gone "missing" from southern barracks over the last few years and not a lot of people are really talking about the possibility of a "third force"....

Excellent point and one missed by many contributors to this forum.

The political battle engulfing Thailand is not just a battle between red and yellow. Its between red, yellow and camouflaged - the colours of the Islamic extremists.

Everyone leaps to the same conclusion if there's a bomb scare or outrage somewhere in the capital and assume its down to the red shirts. The Islamists have had their own agenda for decades and its very much in their interests to keep the political temperature at boiling point.

Its not as if they have no previous in the use of explosives.

No, it's a spurious point. Albeit there is dissension from the south, the issues are completely seperate.

  13. Why is it that the government seems to know all about the intentions of the bombers but can't identify those responsible?

Why is it that security laws are being applied to achieve political objectives? Can we have some transparency here, please?

It hardly takes a rocket scientist to show that whoever is behind the bombings doesn't have the best interest of the glorious "Land 'O Thais" in mind, no matter your political affiliations.

A sensible person might be lead to believe that these bombings are to sow unrest in the population and/or discredit the current government, then again maybe not. ..

The security laws are being applied to keep the political machine that is the thai government running, NOT to achieve ANY political goal other than that.

No matter how you slice it, the Dems have a coalition which holds a clear, yet tenuous majority in government. While there are other deep questions which beg to be answered, NONE of them discount that simple fact.

One only needs to see that even with a boycott of nearly 100 "Buea Thai" (purposely misspelled to be the thai word for BORING) MP's; THREE pieces of legislation were voted on as they finally had a quorum.

If you're an enquiring mind, might I suggest reading a poster on here who I think is known as "jdinasia". He's got a pretty complete history of how the current political situation has come about.

    Sensible words. Worth repeating.

    Inshallah.

IF I was a Muslim Extremist and my goal was secession, I would want to distance myself from the red/yellow political infighting. Two very seperate issues.

  15. Why is it that the government seems to know all about the intentions of the bombers but can't identify those responsible?

John Citizen, aka Wolfie Smith. Power to the people.

Mr Citizen, the headline states, "Government rules out using emergency decree despite bombings

    ".

As for the government's "knowing", if you read carefully, you will see it is only reasonable speculation.

    Very reasonable specualtion.

  16. Alot of people smell a rat around this story....here's another possibility to add to the pong. If a false accusation is to be made by the boy or his mother for whatever motivation, maybe to extort from the school, maybe to cover for an actual molester....wouldn't the accuser pick on someone that they think has left the country? He has not taught at the school this year....as far as the mother knows, he's gone.

(why cover for an actual molester? If the boy has been damaged by mum's brother (for example), she needs to keep her husband from knowing who did it, so blame someone who she thinks can't defend the accusation....possible.)

  17. Elcent....

I do not have a good knowledge of the Thai system but I do have some knowledge of the Aussie system and a little thing called the sex offenders register which is public knowledge. I have not had recent dealings with this person but I did a few yrs ago during an arrest. My questions were how did he get into Thailand and out of Aust

Are you saying that the existance of the register is public knowledge, or the information on the register is public knowledge?

If there is a register that has information that is in the public domain, then there is no reason why you can't repeat (here) any information that is on that register.

Or newspaper reports etc. If you have had dealings, then you will know what to look for (dates etc). You have intimated that Clements has a history.... You really should elaborate.

  18. I think you misunderstood my meaning. Wasn't condoning this state of affairs, just telling it as it is.

What I'm saying is that citizens, even while rioting, do not automatically become "enemies of the state".

Rather doubt most of the people out there had any idea this was coming up and don't think they'd go for it if asked first.

Having the army go at them is foolishness.

Rioting may not constitute being an enemy of the state....but firing explosives at the military does.

Firing explosives at civilians does too.

Would you have hoped the army or police remained calm if Timothy McVeigh was just walking away from his pickup truck prior to it becoming the "Oklahama Bombing"? Tim was probably from the same province as most of the dead....the cops were too. What has blood, race, nationality, religion, etc go to do with it?

Nevermind, lets not digress from the thread.
