Education visas are for 90 days AFTER which you change it to a STUDENT VISA at your local Thai immigration here in Thailand....

There will be a Government Sunday only high school program - specifically design for those who left school at 13 years - some where in your amphur which will allow her to graduate with a high school certificate, which in turn can be used to study at a diploma college, the certificate from that college allows her to enroll at a university. sukhothai open university would be an option meaning she can study from home. of course it won't happen over night... think 7-8 years from start to completion.<br>

As a manager I understand that if I dismiss an employee who is on probation then that is that BUT if I dismiss a permanent employee than the company must usually pay compensation [unless the employee has done something especially terrible like steal money]. Your company are avoiding paying compensation at a future date. Compensation is calculated from the day you become a permanent employee.

Our staff have 3 months probation, extendable by a further month if we see fit, but it is very clear that after 3 months they are either
1. made permanent
2. dismissed, or
3. placed on a further month's probation.
Very rare it is utilized because if we are still that doubtful of their suitability after 3 months we simply let them go.
You must know in yourself if you have lived up to expectations, and if this is justified or not.
Yes I am very Sure I have lived up to expectation.
In fact When I was unofficially informed of the pending extension They reiterated to me that it was "By no means Due to Poor performance or my Ability"
But they also could give no reason as to why they were doing it..
Also When I asked HR about the difference Contractually or Financially between me being on Probation or not being on probation they answered " Absolutely Nothing at all"
So I am left wondering is there some Thai Law hidden in the back ground that may be evoked while I am on Probation? and the company wishes to hold on this For a further 1-2 months for what ever reason?

I got one from Kasikorn Bank on Pattaya Klang, near to Tops Supermarket = excellent service; very secure internet purchasing system with special passwords. also SMS notification every time I use the card. I recommend them.

I have a 9 hour transit stop in Ho Chi Minh City airport. Is it possible to leave airport on a transit visa? If so, is this issued on arrival?

I did exactly the same for over 2 years with my office being in Singapore; the only down side is you'll need a new passport quite often cos of the immigration stamps. Bangkok immigration never asked any questions, I assume they see this situation quite often.

we used a local bore hole contractor who already knew he'd need to go down about 35 meters and we paid a fixed fee B19,000 to find water at what ever level he had to go down to. We have 2 filters one carbon and one green manganese [to clear iron] and then a 2,000 liter holding tank [extra B25,000 from a different supplier]. quite sufficient for 4 people 24/7.

I used to work in Singapore but live in Bangkok and I came and went at least once a week for over a year and Thai immigration never asked one question.

for Orthopedics I use Dr. Montien at Phya Thai Hospital [not a big hospital and very honest] in Sri Racha; he's extremely professional and as I have both the Thai Government Health Scheme and BUPA it has never cost me anything. I moved to him after very good recommendations from friends.

The bar facing the Wangcome Hotel is called the Regency Bar, I always felt welcome here.
For your accomodation, this place has been recently recomended on the Ting Tong gay board and seems reasonnably cheap and well located (and gay-friendly) :
Ilz, thank you. I have been looking at this hotel too, but my only problem is that I have not stopped smoking yet , I hope to do it soon, and the hotel is total non-smoking from their homepage.
we stayed there and most rooms have a small balcony where you can smoke....

enterprise car rental [at manchester airport] only looked at my drivers licence [very old out of date address] and passport I could have paid in cash but I used a uk debit card rather than my thai credit card; they also offered the cheapest prices

We live in Nong Palai district of Banglamung, north Pattaya to be precise: we have to pay about B500/year for refuse collection [daily], it also covers street lighting and street cleaning.

if you manage to keep hold of your boyfriend after the first 2 weeks i comend you. lol
only joking, bar teaching english forieners have a very small chance of finding decent paid work within thailand the reason being is you will not be offered a work permit for any jobs that a thai can do. unless you have a specialist degree in a certain profession, it is near impossible to find any work other than teaching english (which doesn't pay well, 30,000 baht a month or possibly more if you have a bachelors degree and work in an international school in bangkok)
there are ways of making money in thailand but the people who know aren't willing to divulge for obvious reasons.
there are many foreigners working in hotels in pattaya - from management down to chefs and fitness instructors.....

I and my family have used Lanta Clinic which is on the right hand side of Kasikorn Bank on Pattaya Klnag, near the junction with Pattaya Second Road for the last 6 years; very good service at a reasonable price. The dentist also works at Pattaya International Hospital but it's cheaper at this private clinic.

have a look at http://www.sunsetvillage.co.th/ a very beautiful setting but you'd need transport as it's out of town....

By being a Budhist I became a much more likeable person, I help friends and others I meet and accept their thanks; if you're losing friends then maybe you're not being what a real Budhist should be...?

I attach a recent survey by the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand which shows local salaries currently paid by their members.....

what's the cost per square meter? is this a fairly cheap method of construction?

TEFL positions check on www.ajarn.com which is the main English teaching site for Thailand...

we built in pattaya 2 years ago at a final cost of B7,700 per square meter - single story house; high standard of finish. a friend has just completed a house in kanpeng phet at B5,600 per square meter which is a reasonable price for up country. B10,000 sounds very expensive.

our 2.5 year old has happily been at Sucher Kindergarden, Sukhumvit Road opposite The Police Resort, Long Po, for 1 year. They are mainly Thai speaking but he also studies English and Chinese. It costs B15,000/per 4 month term. Plus B800/month transport home each day [about 5 kilometers]. Though at age 3 [min age to start] he'll probably move to Aksorn School on Naklua Road as they have just been awarded "best Kindergarden in Pattaya".

A friend of mine has an oppurtunity to teach nursing in thailand. We are interested in finding out a little about the geography around Huachien Chalermprakiet which is a school in samut prakan. The only info i seem to get is that there is a jail there. It would be appreciated if someone could explain a little about the area. How far is it from bangkok and the beach? Do they have public transportation available? Is there much pollution? Is there alot of restaurants? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I think your spelling is a little off try "Huachiew Chalermprakiet" on google earth; it's at the end of the runway at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi international airport, on the main highway into Bangkok. Though some what rural it's near major shopping at Bang Na [10 minutes away] and about 30 minutes by car from central Bangkok. The nearest best beach would be at Bang Saen again 30 minutes away [to the south].
