  1. Very sick people and glad they got caught.

However the first thing sprang to my mind was why is this world news on thaivisa and why is muslim mentioned in the headline rather than Indonesian teachers.

These crimes happen all over the world everday. Why target muslims?

It happened inside a mosque, that's news worthy. Nobody is targeting anybody, and writing that Indonesians raped a boy in a mosque is misleading without mentioning Islam and can cause Muslims elsewhere to assume the child rapists were of another religion and ... well you can fill in the blanks.

  2. 40 tons? at around 1 million grams per ton (depending on your version of a ton) that's a hell lot of tablets. Are these numbers correct? I don't know for sure but I thought most pills were not much more than half a gram, even if they are 1 gram each that's 40,000,000 tablets. Seriously.

Sounds like a huge international problem that maybe WHO or UN should be looking at.

Thailand population is 69 million and 7% admitted to using meth so lets say 4.5 million people smoke in total and each session is about 3-5 pills so that's what 14 million - 20 million pills per day get smoked maximum if every user in the country decides to party on same day. So basically, all those tons probably would last for a part of Songkran.

  3. Never heard of such a strange way to end your life till recently. A one time thing would sure be weird. But two dead foreigners 3 months apart in one country where both of the deceased were found with a rope around the neck and the feet firmly on the ground. Boy, the odds must be astronomical. And that actor too. Hope these last two weren't from misdiagnosed auto-erotic-asphyxiation. Can never understand why foreigners fly 10,000km and only to Thailand of all places to indulge in erotic solitaire. ref http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/528993-unidentified-foreigner-found-hanged-in-phuket/

  4. I would get the transaction on video and post it on youtube

And just what do you think would happen if a BiB caught you video taping the payoff?

Ummm...does the dope buyer want to get off or does he want to go to the big house? That's the bottom line. He can ring the bell on the cops, but where do you think that will leave him?

Quite likely hanging from the underside of a bridge with a plastic bag over his head and hands tied behind his back, publicly dismissed as an obvious suicide.

If the B20,000 doesn't hurt **too** much, just pay it and be done.

If you don't mind being the inconvenience, call their bluff and prepare for a harsh wrist slap, you never know, they may not bother, given the risk you'll be in a better position to raise their extortion attempt with the judge.

If neither of the above are do-able for you, go with say B11,000 and a story on how difficult it was to raise. Don't have the full amount ready at hand, make it take a few more days to raise another say B3,000.

You may want to do the passport replacement as well and be ready to bolt - overland - if things start smelling really bad, but that's really raising the stakes.

That's some fine advice. Having multiple options. Land crossing can even be done without a passport if need be. A few years back, one gentleman in a real hurry paid 100,000B to a Thai border cop who put him in the back trunk, and drove a kilometer into Malay.

It's always better to be outside with less money but sipping a cold brew, than sitting inside kicking yourself for not being cunning enough.

  5. Go to the American Embassy and tell the whole story.

Are you for real? Walk in crying with snot bubbles blowing out and confess because honesty with embassy staff and law enforcement is always the best policy. Prisons are full of people who followed such wonderful advice.

It worked for some soldiers in Manila.

A soldier is not a civilian. Soldiers in the full sense of the word are owned by the government during enlistment. Unless the kid in this story has connections, blindly walking into the embassy and hoping for the best should never be the first option, especially when not even formally arrested. Embassy staff looks after the country's interests which may not coincide with the interests of individual citizens. In my experience, a situation like this can be handled better without admitting to anything illegal or hoping that embassy staff has your interests at heart.

  6. This a dilemma. If pay the 20k, so it through an intermediary. Then don't stick around same area because once you feed a stray, it's gonna always return for seconds. Your friend will be ripe for extortion, because once you pay, he is in their pocket. I would consider moving your 'base of operations' away from ko san road.

Don't listen to people advising to set up and video record anybody. Let someone you trust do the talking and the transaction. Don't go to any police stations and say 'err. i was the guy with the weed and am here to pay the bribe to officer dragon'.

The passport is 'dead' no matter what. Even if bribe goes through and think all is kosher, report it lost (not stolen) at some out of the way police station, get the paper and get a new one at embassy.

At this point there is not much that the cops can do. Still pay em off even if you don't get passport back, because if you avoid that, you will just have 2 <deleted> looking for you and they got long memories. Your friend should consider avoiding playing with fire since by his behavior he is a walking target and over his head, who's too inexperienced and naive.

  7. Craving for hard drugs while in a semi-blackout from hard liquor and in a company of people of the same cloth is bad business. Even donkeys would realize that its dumb for three sole employees of a remote motel to murder its only guests, one of whom is a foreign tourist, pretend that some random maniac did it, and not expect to be the prime suspects. If crime is up because of violent tv programming, how come these beasts are not getting any smarter, as the criminals on tv shows are.

  8. he actually resembles an aging dissipated Dexter.

As I said earlier, he should have handled this "Dexter-style," or "Sopranos-style." He was too intelligent for this unless there was a screw loose.

I dunno. It seems a fair number of people tend to keep the corpses for some reason close to them. This is far from an isolated incident. Dragging a corpse outside with snooping Thai people, driving around on a motorbike with a rolled up carpet is too cliche and would make anyone suspicious. I think also once the adrenalin stops, they may not want to chop up the body. Maybe they think it will make em look more guilty. I think after postponing the disposal for a while they start feeling more comfortable having the corpse close by. They start thinking the chances of cops busting in are much lower than chances of the corpse being discovered by some kids or a hiker or getting caught while disposing of the remains.

  9. Pharmacies still sell pseudo-ephedrine suspended in syrup or suspended in jell caps. There are so many additives that exacting the pseudo is no longer practical for the cooks.

In January, a completely original method to synthesize pseudo-ephedrine was published in some Chemistry Journal, which uses meth-amphetamine as the initial ingredient and reduces it to pure pseudo-ephedrine. (http://heterodoxy.cc/meowdocs/pseudo/pseudosynth.pdf).

  10. Children doing a mans job. The level of technical expertise in Thailand is scary. So many people are doing jobs they are not qualified for, or do not understand. I was speaking to someone the other day, who was referring to the lack of expertise when it comes to getting a question answered about wine, at a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. They are charging 300 baht per glass, and the only details they understood was that there were two kinds of wine in the world. Red and white. Only the GM of the hotel had any detailed knowledge about varietals. How about water management? When the US Marine Corp offered early last year to teach the Thai engineers about water management techniques they were told that Thailand will never suffer major floods, as they had a lot of experts in water management. How much longer can Thailand keep up this charade? People are going to notice this sooner of later, right?

You do realize that Thailand is a developing (third-world) country, right? If you want wine expertise, go to Europe.

Unfortunately it's NOT though is it?

I hope so. If Thailand develops into Europe or North America, who the heck would want to go there.

  11. Math (not meth, hehe) is way off here. 905 grams cost way less than $107,000 even if assuming each gram was sold individually.

    $80/gram * 905 grams = $72,400

Since a good number of people purchase more than 1 at a time, and expect a discount, i think $60,000-$70,000 is the correct price range. Average users smoke 1 gram every 2 days, so the 905 grams would keep 20 people stoned every day for 90 days.

Considering the millions of users in Thailand, this arrest in the big scheme of things, was a micro drop in a mega bucket.

  12. 30 kg of ICE - that is a huge haul ......... make a lot of addicts unhappy ... such a haul MUST put the price up, for a while at least.

30kg? nah.. price won't be affected. It costs 40k bhat to manufacture 1kg of ice, takes 1.5 days, and sells for close to 80 times more.

IN 2007, Gatun seizure found 19,000kg of cocaine on a ship by US coast guard and price of cocaine on streets remained the same. Seen an interesting Discovery show about it that illustrated the uselessness of the war on drugs.

  13. Your very comments produce the type of atmosphere allowing violence that you are supposedly against.

Millions of Muslim women live with no rights, fractionally better than slaves and under constant threat of violence in most (if not all) Muslim countries. Domestic violence is encouraged in the Koran and is not a crime under Sharia laws and a Muslim man is allowed to kill his wife or children. Yet what bothers you, are the hurt feelings and potential for violence from the religion of peace when their proven violent tendencies against women, children (and everyone else for that matter) are criticized as evil.

  14. "A lot of the material that police found in my storage facility had been placed there, most likely by the Israeli intelligence service Mossad," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

    Yeah, sure. giggle.gif

Why Mossad is famous for such things and also have a long list of terrorist activities themself

Indeed. In the past Muslim media blamed Israeli spy agency Mossad for:

    * Saudi Arabian officials have "detained" a vulture on accusations of being a spy for Israel, media reports say. The griffon vulture was carrying a GPS transmitter bearing the name of Tel Aviv University, prompting rumours it was part of a "Zionist plot". (reference: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12120259)

    * An Egyptian official has claimed that a shark that killed one person and left four others injured in Egypt could have been placed there by agents from Mossad, the Israeli spy agency. (reference: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/egypt/8185915/Shark-sent-to-Egypt-by-Mossad.html)

    * Hamas police spokesman Islam Shahwan claimed (it) had uncovered a plot of the Israeli intelligence services to distribute libido-enhancing chewing gum in an attempt to “destroy” the young (Palestinian) generation. (ref: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/israel/5830080/Hamas-accuses-Israel-of-dumping-aphrodisiac-gum-on-Gaza.html)

    * Iran’s state-run Press TV reported in the wake of the attempted 2009 Christmas Day bombing of an airliner headed to Detroit by Nigerian national Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was in fact an undertaking of the Mossad in collusion with India's Research and Analysis Wing,. The goal was to spread “Orwellian-style trauma and project Yemen, as well as the African continent, [as] the brand-new focus of the American so-called ‘war on terror,” it said. (ref: http://edition.presstv.ir/detail/117281.html)

    * Mossad agents stage a headbanger's ball in Turkey featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Rammstein to embarrass Turkish Muslims. (ref: http://www.eurasianet.org/node/61393)

Sneaking 5 tons of explosives into someone's garage is a piece of cake for Mossad if they have perfected the art of training sharks and vultures. When in doubt, blame the Mossad.

  15. I don't get why all of you are bent out of shape over this? I lived 4 years in Thailand, and now 3 more in Cambodia and I live on the edge and never got into 1 beef with the took tooks or motos while wilding out piss drunk.

It's simple. Pay 10 or 200 or 900 or whatever the guy tells you he wants for the ride, or find a better deal, or walk. If you forgot to settle on a price, the mistake is yours, so cough up the money and next time be smart enough to strike a deal before getting in.

I am on first name bases with all motos and took-tooks around where i live. I buy them beers once in a while. The dividends are way worth it. I seen how they attack as a pack, so nice to have that pack on your leash.

Use your head, this the wild west and if you don't like it, need a safety net, are too green to adapt, not street smart, you gonna get used and abused.
