  1. Hello folks ,

Where to get an decent western meal here in Cr ?

There is a good little place on Hasamitr road near the sports park. It's called Thai-tex. Great burgers and home made fries. It's on the way to the Le Merdian hotel.

    good lasagna, and Mexican too.

  2. Jansom house on Jetyod road as well as orcid VERY central, Not too many bars here, except on Jetyod.

There is a YMCA on the superhighway just north of thr river and D town inn just north of King Men Rai statue. around 500 Baht or so depends on season.

Still dry here no floods and cool weather.

Good walking street on Sat and now another one on Sundays, Night Bizzar is same same.

Good western foods are at the La Merdian (nice Sunday brunch) A place on Hasamitr Road called Thai- Tex on the road to the La Mmeridian and the sports park, good Thai as well as good western food and fantastic Big Dog burger and HUGE fresh fries. Sometimes Itialian, sometimes Mexican, good food at some bars on Jetyod, hotel buffets only OK

  3. It's sex pure and simple. It has taken me many many years to come to the understanding that there is a difference in being in love and having sex. And YES it is an ego booster for a man to be found atractive even if it's only for his wallet.

I know that I am looked on as a walking ATM even after 6 years here. Remember you get what you pay for. And guys your wife will find a sami noi if you let yourself go to pot, just as most of you will do if your wife/GF goes to pot. It is the human nature, has been and will always be there.

Even if you just cheat in your own mind!

  4. You might like a place called Thai-Tex on Sahamitr road near the sports park.

good Tex-Mex food as well as a great burger (HUGE) oh yea and fresh cut wedgie fries.

This may be a small example of how emails/postings can be taken wrongly sometimes. I thought your were complimenting BKK Grill and wanted to support you on that. It seems that there are better steak places and I will stay tuned tuned, but next I want to try that Italian place DaVinci's, which comes well recommended. I have tried that Mexican food place at Overbrook and agree with everything said about it here - we all apparently await a really good place to eat Mexican. I am partial to Tex-Mex style over California style, and El Paso style above all, but few know about the tasty difference.

    Thanks for a nice response.

  5. There is a very good place on Hasamitr road between the super hiway and the sports park called Thai-Tex

Great burger, big french fries, good western food and very good Thai food, cheap too!

1,5 years ago I had the greatest fried chicken in butter at a mainly open-air restaurant almost opposite of Big C. (Thai for thai restaurant. No english menu). A few months ago I was there again, and the place had been taken over. No more delicious fried chicken. Can anybody recommend a good alternative?

  6. There is a very nice little place near the sports stadium called Thai-Tex, great Thai food and some good western food as well. its on Sahamitr road between the super highway and the sports park. One of the better burgers in the area, as well as other Falang food.

    GREAT FRIES ALSO!!!!

  7. WHERE'S THE FRUIT????????AT what Wat did he deliver it too??????

    And is Budda that hungry?????

Kinda remindes me of a politician who refused to grant

an interview because"his stars were not aligned".

As one Ameician president once said "I did NOT have sex with that woman"

As Donald Trump would say "Your fired".

  8. Happy Birthday your Magistey;I wanted to also send along a greeting from my

Uncle, He was in your basic training group when you were in the US in 1944. He

remembered a "small skinney kid with glasses who said that he had to go home to

become King!"What a small world it truly is. His name was Ted Hannon and he

passed away 1 year ago, but said If I ever see that kid who became King to say

    hello.

  9. A call out to all to donate NOW, With the holidays comming up, the life you save might be your own.

For tourist There is a Red Cross donatiion center right next to the snake show. The snake show is given by the 2nd oldest snake research center in the world, and it is cheap.

The important part is to save a life. Oh yes that cookie at the end is free.

I bet it will be the best Pressent you can give this season.

  10. Hi,

I have a very similar question so I hope it's ok sticking it on this thread :)

I will be coming to Thailand (Chiang Rai) in January, for three weeks, arriving from the UK by air so I will get the usual 'permitted to stay' 30 days on arrival stamp in BKK.

I want to visit Laos for maybe a day or two, leaving and re-entering by land border. Will I have to wait until the 15 days I will get when I re-enter the Kingdom is enough to cover the rest of my stay or can re-entry permits be obtained on a 30 day permission to stay stamp?

I'm assuming that when I leave Thailand for Laos my original permission to stay expires. I'm going to be applying for a non-imm 'O' from Hull as I hope to be coming back in May for three months so maybe I should get that before the January trip? Advice appreciated

    Thanks

Good choice on Chaing Rai, It is faster to get your Laos visa in Bangkok 1st. Yes you can get it by mail too.

Cost is about $50.00 US I think. Or you can make a run to Burma (much closer) and only $10.00. Walk across visa is good for 15 days only!!!

  11. Yes I too was going stir crazy in the small villiage at first. Then I started to do what I wanted to do, go out by myself on the motorbike

to see just how far a tank will take me and my camera. 2nd I took up fishing, then photography. I also made trips to the "big city" Chang Mai for a Burger king burger and some time with the RUDE FALANGS. I will take my slow village any day over the trafic jambs in Los Angeles. And a lot less rude people here.

Life is what you make of it, be it a prison or a paridise. Go enjoy the bit of paridise that you are in, It could be worse.

I'm beginning to think the handwriting is on the wall. We've been in a rural village near Sao Kaeo for about two months and I'm not sure I can adapt.

The most difficult is the early morning noise starting at 6am or earlier (like blasting one hour public announcements, music, ceremonial flute music/chanting, food vendors, you name it) which prevents me from getting a decent sleep and puts me right off in a lousy mood each day. This morning some nearby farmer is burning something and I can't sit outside because of the smoke. Man oh Man.

The wife won't be happy to hear this, especially since her family also lives here in the village (an additional difficulty), but I am thinking life in a quiet, clean high-rise in Jomtien or Pattaya may be a necessity for me. I also really miss the western food and English speaking businesses but that is a different matter.

Has anybody successfully adapted to village life like this? I need to hear a success story.
