Thanks guys for your help.
Sounds like it should simple enough.
I'll open an account in her name so she will just be sending it to herself.
Again thank you for taking the time to respond
Cheers

My wife and I are now living in Australia. We have a daughter between us and my wife has permanent residence
It looks like we may have sold our house in Bangkok which is completely in my wife's name. The money for the house was transferred into Thailand by myself.
Are Thais able to send money out of the country easily or as I suspect are there many hoops to jump through.
Has anyone had experience in this area?
Any help is greatly appreciated
Cheers

My Thai wife and I are currently living in Australia. We have a daughter between us and my wife has permanent residence here.
We may have sold our house in Bangkok and I just want to know if there will be any problems with my wife transferring the money out. The funds for the original purchase for the house were transferred in by me from my Australian account. The house and of course the land were purchased in my wife's name.
Will it be a straight forward matter of just sending the money to her bank account here in Australia?
I suspect that there will be hoops to jump through. Has anyone here done this before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

We applied for a spouse visa in November last year. The application was completed in December and a permanent resident visa subclass 100 was given 3 weeks ago. All up about 5 months, and my application was complicated !
Whilst we were waiting for the visa we applied for and were granted a 3 month tourist visa. We applied for both visas at the same time.
If you want to reside in Australia permanently just apply for the permanent resident visa now. It seems like you have been married for some time and have children so you will be able to obtain PR immediately. My wife and I have been married for 7 years and have a 4 year old daughter who became an Australian citizen with a passport- no visas required for here.
If you want any more info from my experience just pm me, I'm happy to pass on all my knowledge
Cheers

Thanks Simple
We are very happy to have it all sorted so quick
Yeah they were very good at the Embassy

Well I must admit I am very happy with the Embassy,
As mentioned above in another post of mine we submitted our application last November . A few other docs were required and the complete app was finished in December.
Last week we received the great news that my wife's visa was granted. Permanant Resident visa (sub class 100) in about 5 months. In some ways our application was complicated and in other ways it wss straight forward.
Obviously we are very impressed with the Embassy. I found all staff I spoke with to be very friendly and helpfull.
So if you are waiting for a visa to come through take heart in so far as it may not take 8 months or more.

Any updates from members on this topic?
Our situation is as follows
Submitted application in November 2012
A few further docs were asked and the complete application was sent from the case officer to the person who makes the decision in early February (no interview)
I received an email from the case officer recently stating that the person who makes the final decision is currently reviewing apps lodged in January 2013.
Any other info from members?

Thanks to all who responded
Sorry for the delay in the reply. I have been back in Australia working.
Well we submitted our application 2 days ago together with a tourist visa request. We were given a form for the police check. The lady at VFS said that we would hear from a case officer in 3 months, we would then be asked to obtain the health check.
As I am now working in Aust and returning to bkk every 20 days it becomes a little expensive so I'm hoping they grant the TV so at least my wife and daughter can stay with me in Oz..
I am a little concerned about the process as this is my third marriage to a non Australian and there is a limit of 2. I have one daughter with my Thai wife and no children from any previous marriage. Aparantly they can issue a waiver of the rule if children are involved - time will tell, I guess.
Again thanks for all the good advice

One more question if I may
Do I have to write a letter of invitation for my wife to visit? and do I have to show means of financial support whilst we wait for a decision? If so does a copy of a bank statement suffice
Again thanks for any advice

Can someone offer a little advice for me as I'm a little confused.
We are about to submit our application for a spouse visa.
When do we obtain a med and police check? Do we wait for the embassy to tell us?
As I have now secured employment in Australia it is too expensive for me to return to Bangkok every month to be with my family. When can we ask for a tourist visa after submitting the application for the spouse visa?
Thanks for all advice

PattayaPhom,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm aware of what you correctly wrote and I agree.
I guess I'm referring to average clearance times.
It's a difficult decision for me. If I advertise to sell now and it sells quickly and my wife's visa is refused then I am without a house. The other side of the coin is if I wait until the visa is approved and the house takes a long time to sell then ...... Argh
Thanks for your reply

Has anyone had any experience in selling a house?
My wife tells me that selling a house in Bangkok can take a year or more. I have heard this from a couple of other people as well.
We are just about to apply for her visa to migrate to Australia which will take up to 10 months. I want to try and avoid waiting around another year or so after that to sell our house.
A realestate company said up to 6 months, but I don't trust any of them.
I think most Thais try to sell their house on the Internet rather than pay an agent commission to sell it for them, so that may be the reason for long selling times, I don't know.
Anybody have any first hand information on this?
Kind Regards
Jack

Edwin,
I live in Bangkok so a trip to the department wouldn't work.
That's good to know that they can find the info quickly and easily. As I said my main concern was delaying what is already a lengthy process.
Thanks for your best wishes

Will and Edwin,
Thank you for your replies.
I know they would have a record of it. What concerns me is that it may slow down the whole process if they have to go find the details, you know how they can be.
I guess I will just answer with approx dates and leave it up to them.
Again thank you for your advice.

Hi guys,
I am about to lodge an application to sponsor my Thai wife to immigrate to Australia.
On the application you have to provide details of any previous sponsorship. I sponsored my ex wife from Austria to Australia some 20 years ago. Some of the information they require for e.g. What was the date we lodged the application and what was the date the application was approved ? I simply have no record of.
Does anybody have any idea where I can gather all the required details?
Thanks for any advice

Hi all,
I just received my new Nuvi 2565 and I cant seem to get the voice command operating. The instruction manual says in some areas it is not available. Does anyone know if this is the case for Bangkok?
Is there any way to get it to work?
Any help would be great
Thanks

Any information about Min Buri, arround Hathairat 7?
I live on Samwa parallel to Hatairat and it's all dry here. I went to look at Hatairat last night and all looks ok at this stage.

The 7 Eleven is closed?
That's it we're done for, I'm outta here.
Outside our gated community the 7/11 is closed...
Next shop is an old Thai/Chinese lady who is in charge...
Since this morning she organizes raft delivery service, one of her nephew is doing it.
I've just received my 24 x cans pack of beer... And guess what? She didn't even increase the price and her nephew refused tips!

I don't get it
I remember it was reported that the city will be safe. The mass of floodwater has passed out to sea. The crucial days were over the weekend.
Now we here that the mass of water will arrive within 48 hours of a press conference held last night and further that bkk may not be safe.
Does anybody in the government have any idea what is really going on?
I really don't think so.
In the meantime it's still pretty much ok around thanon Samwa and Minburi.
Cheers

You mean on the way to the airport from Ramkamhaeng?
Suwithawong minburi seems ok now. Heavy rain right now which isnt good. Klum khao rd just from suwithawong to latkrang/romklao is underwater, Thats a no go area if you have to drive.

great map. That's just what I wanted to see.
We have no flooding at all here in Thanon Samwa which is near Minburi and Ram Intra. So far so good
Cheers

I posted our experience on another thread but here is what we found
We applied in November 2012 and we received permanent resident visa subclass 100 in April this year.
Pretty sure the embassy at the time was stating it can take up to 10 months for just the spouse visa.
Depending on your situation you can be granted a PR visa straight away as we were.
If you want any further info let me know
Cheers
