Amazing Amusing Thailand

Good job this pilot didn't work for Qatar, Etihad, Kuwait Airlines or any one of the growing legion of "Islamic Airlines"...... there'd be no flights at all! 555.....

Amazing Amusing Thailand!
-
Nothing shocks or surprises me anymore in 'Amazing Thailand'..... it's now become 'Amusing Thailand'!
-
Just to reiterate - this piece is plainly not worthy of any "professional" (in mine and others' opinions) - "allegedly raping his adopted daughter repeatedly for eight years when she was eight years old" means she was raped for eight years when she was eight years old? 8 in 1?!?!
Sub-standard writing/reporting, for sure!
Yes, I know this is explained in the later paragraph, but surely a NATIONal newspaper can do better than this poor (X8?) reporting!?
In fact, this demonstration of inept 'reporting' is surely LOSING The Nation readers!? I won't be buying a 'newspaper' that needs additional explanation!!!!

"despite annual flooding in Thailand. We never learn any lessons, and we let it happen, over and over."
Hardly unexpected.... the latter part being applicable to just about everything here!

I didn't feel a thing.....

Is this a joke? Many of these 'Thai' words are not even legitimate loan-words, just 'farang talk.' 'Screwdriver, airport, sensitive, idiot, plan, joke, idea, cholesterol', etc. all have common and frequently used 'real Thai' counterparts. This may be somebody's idea of fun, but not for anybody who wants to really learn Thai. More interesting to me are Sanskrit-derived words which- via Greek or Latin- may retain a related meaning in English, such as 'pawn' or my favorite, 'eke.'
absolutely right.
- does anyone really believe that "joke" is the same in both English and Thai? We've all experienced the merry farang in a bar, gathering admiration from Thais joining in his "joke"!
-
Don't you just love these increases whenever farang are concerned?
Not 10% or even a hefty 50% as might be expected, maybe?
But 650%.....!!!!!
(yes, yes, it's "because it was lowered 2 years ago")

If anyone has flown Kuwait Airways, then they'll know what 'shoddy' customer service is, and ill-equipped planes!
2nd class planes (even the video screens rarely work, so how is a passenger supposed to have confidence in the technical ability to keep the plane 'trouble-free'?), 3rd class attitude, nil class complaints procedure - my (new and intellectual ;o) book was actually stolen from my cabin seat during 'stopover'. Upon complaint, the only response was "it must be the cleaners". Nothing else said or done!

Hello all
I have a child with a Thai woman, now aged 1.5 years - we both now know there is a visa available for me to stay in Thailand because of this. I am living here on Tourist Visas at present (due to discontinue as has been reported on this site).
The criteria have been met (e.g. THB400K in a Thai bank), but the visa application fee has been reported to us as being 95,700 Baht... is this correct? It seems incredibly high for a visa (with "no guarantee of approval"!) - I cannot find anything about this fee on websites, and would appreciate if someone has any knowledge about this, please.
The Thai mother of my child (a businesswoman who is fully independent and very very far from being financially needy!) insists she doesn't want to marry me and wants "nothing" from me in terms of financial assistance. She has employed a nanny and lives in a gated estate on the outskirts of BKK.
Thank you.

Of course, there is nothing to say except I hope she makes a full and swift recovery.
The news of impending doom of her not recovering is often typical by even Western doctors. I suffered a massive head injury in an RTA and was in a coma for over a month - the medics told my wife to expect the worst (i.e. death). Obviously, they were COMPLETELY wrong.

"The Cabinet has approved new regulations that prohibit karaoke parlours from providing drinking or singing partners to customers, with their business licences being revoked if they do."
Surely, this is just opening another opportunity for back-handers? Will the doors of corruption in Thailand ever be tackled or even closed?
Who has the power for "business licences being revoked" - they can obviously turn a blind eye for the right amount - this'll never cure anything, just strengthen the corruption cycle.

Allah indeed works in mysterious ways!
If 'it' was real, of course, and not just a deluded load of nonsense written in the Bronze Age, now followed by brain-washed millions around the globe....
