  1. Must be nice to have all that extra cash floating around.

Yeh it is. Green eyed monster? 55 Try not to be too jealous if you work harder you too can afford Food by Phone.

If you maximise your use of the VIP club savings and then compare the marked up prices to the chefxp non marked up prices....

    12xFree Delivery vouchers = 720thb

    12x100Baht vouchers = 1200THB

    First Order Discount 500THB = 500THB

30% off Next 3 orders = 900THB (say 300THB average user for me its actually about 500-600thb)

    10% off all orders 5+ a month

Vouchers for BKK Restaurant = 5000THB-8000THB (Saving if you use them average)

So if you look at all that it kinda wipes out the markup on FoodbyPhone orders.....

Still more than happy with FoodbyPhone its a far better product at a premium price of course. If you look at Beirut and say a pasta dish from Le' Opera there is a distinct difference in portion size between the two companies.

And anyway Hungry you are obviously in some way connected to ChefXP judging by your post history either Work for them/Owner/Friend etc.

If you are happy with ChefXP that's great. I am Happy with FoodByPhone and remember I was a customer of FoodbyPhone and ChefXP for a long time (Even room service before ChefXP) so I am not biased in anyway. I just prefer the premium service from FoodbyPhone and I am happy to pay the premium price. So run along now.

I was away for a few days, so did not get a chance to reply to this....looks like you've been handled otherwise....

But now that I have a moment...lets look at your brilliant math:

First of all, on average, fleece by phone charge anywhere from 20 to at least 70% more than anyone else....so lets say, to be fair, 35% average additional cost

    12xFree Delivery vouchers = 720thb

great...average order 800baht, over charge 280baht...cool, you saved 60 baht, but had to spend 280 to get it! real smart! 12X280=3360...but hey, you saved 720.

    12x100Baht vouchers = 1200THB

    same math again....spend 280, save 100.

    First Order Discount 500THB = 500THB

This one not too bad....the fleecers actually lost money here, but only if your total bill is less than 1428 baht.....good thing you are probably dining alone.

30% off Next 3 orders = 900THB (say 300THB average user for me its actually about 500-600thb)

    getting repetitive....

    10% off all orders 5+ a month

dont make me laugh....you can save a whoping 10%, but only after you over pay 1750? Not to mention, on those orders that qualify for a 10% discount, you're still overpaying 25%??????

I digress. Why on earth would anyone with a calculator and half a brain PAY 1200 baht for the honor of being fleeced at every turn? Even if they give the cards away for free...you're still coming out on the losing end!

Now....if they had an offer where you paid 1200 baht, and from that point on you only ever received ACTUAL menu prices, then I say its a great deal....THAT would be a savings. OR, you can pay nothing, and order from Chefsxp.

  2. We switched back to Food by phone this week after using Chefxp for over a year 2 or 3 times a week. I must admit I forgot how professional Foodbyphone are compared to the chefxp.

They always seem to deliver quicker and the food is much hotter when it arrives than ChefXP (Central BKK) and of course as covered in another thread the delivery guys are far more polite and shall we say washed than their competitors.

The VIP club is well worth joining for Foodbyphone and you can easily get back 3 or 4 times what it cost to join (Stock up on the wine for your first few orders after joining). Of course you get what you pay for. Actually there was 1 mistake along the line this week at Mrs Balbirs they sent a prawn curry instead of the fish one we ordered. One call to FbyP and they sent the fish one within 30 mins and said we can enjoy the prawn one with their compliments and that was a 400thb+ dish.

Also nice to have the extensive wine options with food by phone.

Also interesting test this order Tabbeluh and say mixed sharwama from food by phone at beirut restaurant then compare the size of the portion to what u get at the cheaper chefxp option.........was pleasantly surprised.

The DOWNSIDE you will pay slightly more. Sticking with Foodbyphone from now on sorry chefxp (Actually I am not after your spam nonsense) :)

Must be nice to have all that extra cash floating around.

I find it difficult to believe that either one could be that much better than the other when it comes to service. Both use motorcycles and their (washed or unwashed) drivers, both deal with rain, traffic, Red Mobs etc, both have to deal with restaurants that make mistakes (as was your example, and mine with chefsxp a few weeks back....I only got a 50% discount).....but what I find particularly amusing is that you think the VIP card is worthwhile. Why on earth would anyone pay 1200 baht or whatever for the privilege of being over charged (in some cases, exorbitantly!) on every single thing they sell. Have you actually compared prices? You probably think the Sukhumvit Street vendors really are giving a "special deal just for you"

I guess there really is one born every minute.

And as for that spam nonsense....for the sake of having to press the delete button a few times, I'll stick with the better deal.

  3. at first the Government didn't do anything .. n let the buildings burn n ppl to gather as mobs .... (which made the ordinary ppl life miserable)

now as an over reaction .. they are putting curfews to enhance the miseries ....

    THANK YOU GOVERNMENT >. :S

IF the govt would have doe something after 2 days, everybody would have shouted: Bwaahhh, over-reaction.

NOW they try to avoid further problems and now it is: Bwaaahhh, over-reaction

Bwaahhh'd if you do, Bwaahhh'd if you don't.

  4. There's another forum on this topic....I posted the following there....although, this forum seems a little more lighthearted about it all...I mean really...so someone screwed up, but you'd think in these times people would have more to worry about than stupid crap like a few extra spam mails....anyway...this is the other post which explains there really is nothing to worry about...

"I too got their bulletin email.....and then some other emails, and some replies, and a bunch of Spam. Annoying as hel_l but not the end of the world. They obviously were using some kind of distribution list, which normally include a bunch of options regarding level of access. They should have set the list up requiring authentication....that would have eliminated the possibility of spam-bot accessing the list...and would have made it impossible for anyone to send anything for that matter....unless they had the access code.

Its an easy mistake to make and I guess it would escalate as soon as people started sending replies. But the simple fact is, once the "[email protected]" distribution list was deleted, (and they assure me it was) there is nothing more to worry about.....without that list, the spam cannot get to you. I know my email address is still safe....my inbox has some unwanted crap in it.....but I ain't throwing the baby out with bath water!"

  6. Some of you MUST have a hel_l of a headache by now.....beating your head against some mad buggers wall.......

Sure, the reds represent (theoretcially) the less-fortunate sector of Thai society....and there are issues that need to be addressed....But at no point during this protest was it about those issues. To pretend otherwise is delusional. The only proof left behind of the Red's intent is a few billion baht worth of damage to public proeprty and the unemployement of the very people they proposed to protect.

  7. We want Suthep arrested! We want charges against us to be dropped!!! Are these guys freakin serious???? How the hel_l can ANY Govt with straight spine put up with this????

Those reds leaders that called for violence should face charges

Yeah...a day late and a dollar short. They should have attempted to cut incoming supplies and electricity ages ago. If what you see in the movies is accurate...that should have been the very first step in a situation like this.

My question is: why haven't they cleared off the barracades at Soi chitlom and others where there are NO Red shirts remaining? Seems to me, that any ungaurded territory should be reclaimed immediately and a containment perimeter set up. Or is hollywood more tactically aware than the Thai governement?

  8. I am supprised there are so many still comming to Thailand "Rubber neckers" :)

I think we have to be quite about the fact tourist still go to south and enjoy the beaches. Because if the Red figure this out they will also try to destroy south tourism how small it is.

    They just hate Thailand

    Som nom na.

Last week I went to KL for a visa run. Going out on a Monday....immigration was packed. Returning on the Wednesday...at 8pm...Immigration was empty. Usually, at 8pm, the queue is about 20 people deep on each line....this time, perhaps 4 or 5 per line. So yeah...no bigs news here.

And somebody please explain the logic in spending 1.6b or whatever to stimulate tourism?????? That's like "Come to Bosnia" or "visit lovely Afganistan!"......."Welcome to Thailand. Duck!"

Really!!! Bosnia? Afganistan? have you been there? I'm impressed

It sucks when sarcasm needs to be explained.....

  9. If anyone thinks that regular tourists are coming because there is no danger here then think again..what i mean is ok there are dangers here but if you have been here before then you know where to go and not to go but that is not the case now and even hardened tourists who have been many times to the LOS are not coming....Grenades thrown at banks into crowds anything can happen anywhere.......Not just Bangkok. My son has been over here about 8 times and twice in the last 18 months with his girlfriend. They were coming in July this year but now because of the RED problems here they will not now come...They just think at this time its just not worth the risk....I for one understand and I do not believe tourism is only down one third more like 80%...But thats just me seeing who's walking the streets in the north. Its just us locals...Would'nt be so bad but the pound is still weak against the pound.....

Just a little off subject the housing estate I'am on is putting the rents up by 1000 baht a month for tenants when they renew leases...You think not a lot well in real terms I'am paying 25% to 30% more because of the exchange rate...Well my neighbour has moved out and the house has now been empty for 3 months so even if they got some one in now it would take 18 months to regain their looses...Thai logic yes! Other houses are empty and there are no new perspective tenants at the moment but they have put them up as well! Som Nam Na yes!

if my math is correct...that means you pay 3-4000 baht a month for rent?????? the loss you would incur due to a poor exchange rate on 1000 baht would be what?....30baht??? eegad you must be on a tight budget.

YOU HAVE JUST FAILED YOUR MATHS EXAM. If the rent increase is B1000/m, and the bungalow has been empty for 3 months, and it will take 18 months to recover the loss if re-rented now, then the rent must be B6000/m. Any losses due to exchange rate would have to be calculated in the source currency, not in THB.

    If 1000baht represents a 30% increase, 3333 x 30% = 1000...or...3333 + 1000 = 4333baht.

If the new rent is 6000 baht.....and the increase was a 1000 baht....then that increase was from 5000. ....which is only a 20% increase.

And I didn't bother converting to pounds, or whatever, cause the number would to low mention. At least in baht it registers as a double digit.

    ...am I missing something here?

Unlike the good old yellow shirts who only closed the airport completely thereby stopping all tourist air-arrivals. What blatant double-standards by some of the people on here.

ok ok already. we get it. reds are bad. yellows are bad....why do so many supporters of the (INSERT FAVORITE COLOR HERE) feel the neccessity to "yeah but what about the other guys" in every post?

  13. Thai emergency services have refused to confirm the government's claim that three people died in Thursday night's violence.

    They say one woman died.

Well, what is going on Abhisit.........the situation is clearly out of control and all kind of misleading information is being issued by your govnt!!!

don't be a douche...."the situation is clearly out of control and all kind of misleading information is being issued by"....EVERYONE!

  14. Why are so men red-farangs unstable? The down and out in the west seethe with anger towards people with educations and blame everyone else for their problems. And when in Thailand they gravitate to the same ilk.

Yeah I guess deep down I knew that, amazing how many of the expats here whine and complain about everything but when you suggest they go back to their native countries they act like its the most stupid thing they've heard.

So I guess your explanation makes perfect sense.. have to remember when reading their posts next time that the elevator indeed does not go to the top

totally off topic...but...YES! "why don't you go back to your own country" is the stupidist thing I have ever heard. Regardless of whatever anyone is whining about, how does "if you don't like it just leave" address or debate the issue???? If you don't like what someone has to say....tell them why they are wrong, take an opposing view, don't just stick your head in the sand because you've nothing better to say and tell them to go away.

As for red-farangs OR red-Thais? Or Yellow for that matter: "Sheep on band-wagons all".....Holding a city, or an airport hostage in the name of democracy and the betterment of the people, while being paid to do so, is just plain silly. An extremely wealthy and powerful few are the driving forces behind these things....and it has absolutely nothing to do with democracy OR the betterment of the people.

Now tell me...will going back to my home country negate the validity of my opinion?

  15. FYI....food by phone does charge a pretty good size increase...but chefsxp will show you the receipt from the store if you like! Yes....they'll probably want you to order from a restaurant too....but it is a restaurant delviery service afterall......

  16. Yesterday in Bangkok I twice used a zebra crossing; one of the newer ones with traffic lights. When the lights changed some of the traffic did not even bother to stop, in fact one black Vios increased its speed past an already dangerous velocity to beat me attempting to cross the road, and in doing so almost hit me.

Every time I use these crossings I am extra careful as Thai drivers have little or no regard for the pedestrian.

was that at Asoke by any chance? I had the same thing yesterday!
