Can you elaborate on; "pack it in front of them to bypass customs." Whose customs??
Thai customs. They won't re-open it if packed in front of the PO staff. It may still get opened in the destination country. Just saves a little exit time.

The Thai post office is self insured and as long as you have proper documentation they will pay
That's why I said "I would suggest not sending anything of high value or high importance to you by this method" because the PO insurance will pay a fraction of the actual cost of anything expensive.
Let's try to keep this thread factual with current, first hand info......there are plenty of he said, she said, used to be, maybe etc. threads to go around. The facts mam, only the facts. Hope it helps.
Thanks Anugoon, that's the kind of info. that is beneficial to all. For the small increase in price, that's a LOT faster.

just got back from the post office. Shipping max. 20 kilos or 44 lbs by land and sea is 3210. baht and takes 2 to 4 months. That was to any state/address.
Bring your stuff in a plastic bag and buy a box from them and put the bag in the box to keep it waterproof inside and pack it in front of them to bypass customs. You can buy bin liners at any 7-11.
Or, buy a box, take it home, fill it up to 20k and then re-pack it in front of them. There is a table or counter for this. Perfect for sending clothes.
I would suggest not sending anything of high value or high importance to you by this method. Even though you can insure it, getting paid by insurance companies is another whole subject.

@ kevin, if they remove the child, they take away the grandparents meal ticket and income that comes from you. When she dies, they will be happy to let you have him.

What do sex and air have in common? Neither are very important unless you're not getting any !!!!!!!!!!
Really though, many Thai men I know, and a lot of men in general, feel sex and love are two different things, that may or may not be interwoven. So your ex may still have loved you, and he may have just wanted a little 'strange' on the side. I'm not saying it's right, it's just that way for some.
He may also have wanted to do something sexually that he knows you wouldn't do, or wouldn't like.
It's also another way men justify having a mia noi or gik. They feel that they love their "family" but want some excitement on the side. Some women are guilty of all of the above as well.

Pmarlin, thank you for the update. Creamation 16:00 Monday. Also, when we headed back over tonight, we tried to take a boat from the Sathorn pier at 17:30 and there were no more public boats headed so we ended up on the bts again.
I can't be there on Monday. I hope someone goes.

The US Embassy here in Bangkok has had 2 chances with me to solve problems and on both occasions did an outstanding job, going above and beyong the call of duty to be fair, helpful and solve the problems. Once was a legal issue and last was the death of a friend a few days ago where they handled everything with professionalism. Thank you again.

Mike will be creamated Monday evening at 18:30-20:00. 1 urn with half the ashes will remain in Thailand with his family here and half will go back to South Carolina to his relatives there. I also want to thank the US Embassy here in Bangkok for their outstanding job handling the details and assisting his family on both continents.

MIke's funeral is at Wat BangNa Nok near the BangNa BTS station, you'll have to go by taxi, tuk-tuk or motorcycle taxi from there. Or, easy access by boat from any pier to the Wat BangNa Nok pier.
He's having a 7 day wake/funeral that began Tuesday and will go through the weekend. The best time to stop by and see him and family is arrive a little before 18:30 and leave around 20:00 as the Monks will be there at that time. I will update as I get solid info., I'm not sure if the actual creamation is Sunday or Monday as TIT and confusion is rampant a talking in circles is common.

Not sure where to post this, but, Mike Bollinger,64, (RET. US ARMY) died last night in his room of a reported heart attack. He was a fixture on Sukhumvit Soi 22 on the sub soi going to the 27 Hotel. He was always sitting outside his wifes salon wearing a white JUSMAG shirt and slacks, handing out hello's and advice to anyone who would listen, and often lending money to people that were broke, busted or had drank away their ticket home, and he was often not paid back. He was a good friend of mine and will be remembered. He has lived in Thailand for the past 20 years and in Bangkok for at least the last 14 years. He loved to argue about politics, but with me, we only talked about hunting and fishing, catching bullfrogs, catfish, crawfish and bbq, and of course the military. We were stationed together in Schofield Barracks Hawaii, me in B co., 1/5 Inf. (Bobcats) and him in the Wolfhounds in E or D quad in the mid 80's. I was a private and he was an E-6 SSG at that time. I have contacted his family in the states and the US Embassy this morning. I will put an update here of when and where his funeral will be or what will happen with him. He once told me he didn't want anyone spending a dime on him after he passed, but his nephew said he does have a plot at their family cemetary, plus he should receive a military funeral being that he retired from the Army after 23 years of decorated service.

So the gist of it is, he stuck his 20" swizzle stick in your mouth and made you vomit, now you have limp wrists? If I were you I'd consult a doctor.
Dave, Dave, Dave, tis no place for airing secret fantasies of yours. lol

I'm more annoyed by bigots and homophobes who think that everyone should be the same as them.
OP, this country is full of homosexuals. If they bug you that much, why are you here? Try to enjoy your retirement by letting people live their own lives and getting on with your own. If weren't sticking your nose into the gay guy's business, you wouldn't have noticed his swizzle stick. You should not be looking at another man's swizzle stick in bars.
It's a parody on the other thread genius, touchy aren't we?
-
Don't worry im sure a few will fall for this parody on an other thread, but if you are for real your a clear example what to many blows to the head can do to a man.
You got it on the first try Rob, yer a smart feller!

Man O Man, it never seems to end. I was in a bar drinking the other night minding my own business, when this poofter looking guy, in his 20's and about 6'1 sits down and starts drinking some kind of wine spritzer and keeps looking at me. I'm in my 50's and am old school, you know from back when men were men, men liked women, and such.
So this guy keeps looking at me and every time I look back, he runs his swizzle stick around his mouth. I wanted to vomit! So, I said "What the hell are you looking at"? He just kind of smirked and looked away. A few seconds later, yep, at it again, so I threatend to take him outside and give him a good beating.
Wow, he got all huffy and puffy and almost started crying! Then he got up and left. Thank goodness! The weird thing is that recently, there have been a lot of these kings of limp wrists around lately. What's the world coming too??????????

Obviously he is a Bangkokian speaking about Bangkok as most of the farmers and the rest of Thailand is still on the poverty level. "Middle Income Trap"? You should be so lucky.

It also largely depends on if the builders used the correct amount/size of rebar, and if it the cracks leak. One of the most widely used scams builders use here is to short change the buyer on quality and amount of materials that were quoted. Especially rebar, as it is expensive (relative) and can be used on their own projects.
yeah, we all know how great thai supervision on projects is ha ha ha good one! Anyway, back to the OP, also care must be taken when pouring in hot, humid weather to avoid cracks.
Most cheating in quality and quantity of building materials occur in small projects with lax supervision. Condo projects would have the size to engage proper CM and use ready-mixed concrete instead of site mixed.
You took the words out of my mouth ha-ha!

The building has
Jeeeez, what is with people like you. I'm not arguing with you, I am teaching you. I live within eyesight of that building. Please read slowly - THEY DID NOT "RENOVATE" ANYTHING -----IT NEVER HAD LIFTS, WINDOWS OR CLADDING, SO HOW COULD IT GET "NEW" ANYTHING, AS IN REPLACEMENT. It was a naked, rusting, crumpling turd that they gift wrapped purple and now are adding everything you mentoned for the first time, on top of cracking, patched concrete.
MY ORIGINAL COMMENT WAS ABOUT THE BUILDING.
If you like it so much, go buy it, sounds like a good investment for you.
The building now has windows and they are new. You are not teaching me anything. You're just making a fool of yourself. No need to reply, as I won't be reading this thread again. Good luck with your silly comments. Not a good investment, so not sure why you think I'd be interested.
People like you will read this thread again, because you are a fool and love to make silly comments. Live and learn.
Yingluck asks protesters to leave her son alone, as Harrow school denies any breach of security

It clearly says "Earlier, the pro-government Khao Sod daily reported that Yingluck's son encountered a whistle-blowing protest by a parent at his school. But the school denied it." NOT "Yingluck said" You guys need to learn to read!
