I bought a small thin paper back book with English stories to help with my sons English reading, i was at the railway station and my train was arriving so i had no time to look at the book before paying. It was awful, it was an educational book, the syntax and spelling was all over the place, i threw it away it was that bad
I believe that Sandman found that book.

At least I think it was a town, it might have been an instruction.

No, it is the Austrians who make the cookoo clocks.
Living in Switzerland can actually be fun. When asked if i speak Swiss, or Swedish or whether Swaziland gets hot in the Summer.
No no and i don't know.
Germany, don't know much about it. My brother lives in Munich and that's quite nice. Skating on the frozen river, the beer etc.
And the German people i know are just normal people like you and me. Nothing odd about them at all.

Oh lord, where to start CC?
Quite a few good suggestions have been put forward but I have added a few of my own.
The Germans are a very proud race and with good cause to be.
Apart from a few small hiccups in their history (and all major nations have these), we owe a lot to the German race.
Now if you will only develop a sense of humour and stop showing Freddie Frinton (Der 90. Geburtstag) every Christmas, maybe you will be classed as a great nation.
My list:
Johann Sebastian Bach
Anne Frank
Prince Albert
Erich von Manstein (pure genius)
Johannes Brahms
Richard Wagner
Franz Beckenbauer
Gerd Muller
Albert Einstein
Karl Benz
Rudolf Diesel
Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit
Heinrich Hertz
Michael Schumacher

I dont drink, but this hits the spot on a hot Sunday afternoon.
Oh come on Charlie, that's not an indulgence, that's a time machine back to your (misspent) youth.
And another thing, will you stop chopping and changing your avatar?
You confuse me some mornings when I log on to find that my (naughty) posts have been removed by a moderator with no fixed avatar.

helpful as I am I'll give you a good advice....move to Cambodia....
CC is correct and may I suggest that you get out of Dodge very quickly lest someone sneezes in your general direction or has silent but racist thoughts about you.

Bloody kids staring at people, how rude.
You should have burned the bus down with everyone on it, that would have taught him.

I just had a similar experience tonight.
Won't name the place.
There was no sign of service or even acknowledgement of existence and even turned heads when I tried to get attention.
Thai people were being served.
So I just walked out.
Then all the Thai people stared at ME ... like I was the problem.
Oh well!
Well, maybe they knew you already......you are very provocative (you posted several stories).
For me such a thing never happened. But it happened that Thai staff didn't speak English and wanted to escape that problem. Or others that didn't want to work at all (neither for Thai nor Farang).
But I never saw something racist. (I am usual dressed, long trouser, real shoes, shirt or nice TShirt, hair OK. etc.....)
"never saw anythig racist" my god you must be blind, and how do you know how i was dressed, should one dress in a 3 peice suit to buy coffee
Did you have a shirt on? It's against the law if you didn't.
Maybe he was wearing socks, flip flops and khaki shorts.
I'm pretty sure that there's a law against that.

I am somewhat dissapointed with the replies, while there have been many worthy contenders, there have been some omissions, Geoff Hurst, Bobby Moore, Minnie The Minx, Desperate Dan, Roger The Dodger etc etc.
However the greatest living hasnt yet been mentioned, we have met him everywhere in Thailand from Pukhet, Samuai, to Pattaya and Bangkok.
Please gents get you thinking caps on, heres a hint, he even lurks on this forum.
Stop it RGS, you're making me blush.

Hi, is there anyone on the board who can tell me how to permanently change the language on an I-mobile Hitz12 phone?
I have visiting customers next week so bought 3 of these phones a couple of weeks ago, the idea being that the customers have a cheaper connection with each other, myself and my office than using their own phones on roaming.
Anyway, I set the phones up, set the language to English and no problems (so far) but when I turn the phone off and then back on the language jumps to Thai.
At first I thought that it was something to do with the sim cards but I tried my own sim card, which I have used for around 14 years without a problem but the same thing still happens.
I called to the I-Mobile call center and the best advice that they could give me was to change the language to English and then never turn the phone off again (really).
So any ideas?

ronald biggs
He's dead
Also he's nowhere near being great, a failed wanabe gangster with an ego bigger that his brain.
-
He should have picked up a fight with another farang, from what I've read on TVF lately there are thousands of keyboard warriors out there ready to take a swing any time, anywhere.
Including our residential ex SAS super hero 'Dave the Walt'.

due of your above mentioned restrictions i will refrain from answering...
Oh come now CC, what about Jamie Oliver?
You can't even nominate the world's best chef, as he's Scottish.
OK a serious reply-Marco Pierre White(even he is just half a Brit)...
Good call but only half a point for half English.

Are you referring to Dave 'The Walt' Walsh?
I have heard that he is now working special operation as an undercover boiler room trader.
