Hi guys,
Just on the topic of university teaching.. I was wondering if anyone could describe the working conditions, facilities provided etc... Do foreign teachers at Thai unis have their own offices? Consultation times? Easy access to printing, photocopying and so on? In general, how would you describe 'life' at these universities?
Thanks!

Sorry to 'highjack' the thread here, but how might one go about getting 'recruited' to a Thai university or college from somewhere like Australia? Would the best bet be searching out recruiting companies and negotiating/discussing salaries with them? And in terms of salary (I've read alot throughout the forum) would it be unreasonable to expect a starting salary of over 50k, even touching on 100k per month?
Thanks! Again, sorry if I've highjacked or disrupted the original content.

are there any international colleges/universities where they specifically provide airfare/accomodation in the "contract"? havent come across any yet in my search

From the international schools/colleges I've researched the average salary seems to sit under 50k, no mention of airfares etc.
Could someone possibly name-drop some of the better paying places

A bit off-topic, but just wondering if there is a recommended-college/international school list anywhere? Thanks
Edit: just came across it as soon as i posted here

When I was in China I had a student copy word-for-word from an economics textbook sleeve, as part of the assignment on international trade. They even left the "this textbook is well suited for postgraduate etc etc" part in!
I'd say your response does depend on the school and teaching environment though. At my college the students would pass regardless so I didn't spend too much time worrying about it, as bad as that sounds.

Not meaning to hijack, just have a related question..
I have a Masters degree in business, though I'm considering a Graduate Diploma in TESOL.
Would it be worthwhile or useless..?

Thanks Scott, wasn't sure about making a new topic, cheers

Hi there, I'm new to the forums. I've had a look through at some of the responses, but I was wondering if anyone could give me information specific to my situation?
I have a BA, Masters degree in Business and 6 months experience teaching Business at an international school in Beijing, China, and I'll be tutoring at a popular Australian university this year. I'm considering teaching in downtown Bangkok at the start of 2010, but I'd like to get abit more information before I make any decisions.
I was wondering a few things : What sort of salary could I expect? Would I be able to comfortably find employment? And what do most forum members recommend, Private Universities vs Government?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Thanks for the info, appreciate it. Would you say in general it's harder to find positions within the better unis (low turnover, etc)? And would most strictly require PhD applicants - versus others with, for example, Masters degrees?
Cheers!
