  1. I remember a 'furlong' being used on one post here but I can't be arsed to go and find it. I do have a good memory though so you can add it to the collection. Now what was my name again...

furlong? he's a freejack! (and a farang as well).

  2. she can stay even without the domestic violence thing.

Retention of the right of residence by family members in

the event of divorce, annulment of marriage or termination

    of registered partnership

Without prejudice to the second subparagraph, divorce,

annulment of marriage or termination of the registered partnership referred to in point 2(B) of Article 2 shall not entail loss of

the right of residence of a Union citizen's family members who

are not nationals of a Member State where:

    (a) prior to initiation of the divorce or annulment proceedings

or termination of the registered partnership referred to in

point 2(B) of Article 2, the marriage or registered partnership

has lasted at least three years, including one year in

    the host Member State; or

    (B) by agreement between the spouses or the partners referred

to in point 2(B) of Article 2 or by court order, the spouse

or partner who is not a national of a Member State has

custody of the Union citizen's children; or

© this is warranted by particularly difficult circumstances,

such as having been a victim of domestic violence while

the marriage or registered partnership was subsisting; or

    (d) by agreement between the spouses or partners referred to

in point 2(B) of Article 2 or by court order, the spouse or

partner who is not a national of a Member State has the

right of access to a minor child, provided that the court has

ruled that such access must be in the host Member State,

and for as long as is required.

sorry, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the smiley nonsense.

the quote is from directive 2004/38/EC

  3. the multiple-entry visa allows several stays on the territory of one or several Schengen States, provided that the total length of the visits does not exceed 90 days in any half-year from the date of first entry. The stay may be continuous or spread over several periods within the validity of the visa. The multiple entry visa are issued with a period of validity between six months and five years, for travellers providing sufficient guarantees.

  4. not much you can do about it.

UK != schengen therefore she'll need a visa.

only thing you can do is the EU-route.

then she can apply for an EU resident card (see EU directive 2004/38/EC)

but getting a UK passport is probably easier and cheaper ;)

oh, you can always try the BRAX/MRAX ruling.

EU countries should give your wife an entry visa free of charge at their borders because she's a family member of an EU citizen.

airplane companies can still refuse to let her board tho'.

    don't forget your marriage cert.

  5. i don't have an iphone but i know that sygic has an app for it and it has a map for thailand.

    http://www.sygic.com/

i'm using it on my N82 and it's really good.

    @bangla

As you already had the Nokia Maps on your mobile, was it really worth spending some extra on the sygic?

sorry for the late reply :)

    yes it is.

i used to use tomtom but they stopped making it for symbian phones so i switch to sygic and never looked back.

nokia maps always seems to be lagging behind a bit.

if i quickly want to lookup an address, i use the google maps app. it's much faster.

  6. let the guy feel good about helping someone (probably a cute girl) with 3500 baht.

it's better than giving money to charity where you know the poor malnourished little african kid won't see a dime of what you send because 90% of the money will be used on administrative costs and the 10% that's left will be spend on weapons by some war lord.

  7. And I've got another, disturbing, question.

In Switzerland, the legal age for porn models is 16.

So... what will happen to a Swiss guy bringing porn material?

in holland it's legal to buy pot and get stoned (if you're 18+) but i'm afraid the dutch guy will go to jail together with the swiss guy if they bring their legal shit to america :)

  8. There is however a killer PDA out there (..) It's the iPod Touch running the iPhone 3.0 software.
you don't get a phone, camera and GPS.
Oh yes, you do need a WiFi connection of course to connect to the Internet
iPod does not have multi tasking

so basically you're saying that the mp3 player you bought for 8.000 baht is the ultimate PDA? :)

  9. 3> After travelling to Schengen countries on a Schengen tourist visa once, is there a waiting period to apply for another Schengen tourist visa? Need to travel again after 1 or 2 months.

Not that I know. No problems, as long as you respect the terms of the original visa (no overstay, etc.).

Answer number 3: Wrong A six month period is needed beetwen the end of the first one and the second one

that depends on how long you stay inside schengen.

maximum is 90 days / 180 days on a touristvisa.

so if you stay 30 days then you can apply for a new (60 day) visa right away.

  10. for the record: neither an Aufenthaltskarte nor a Bürgerbüro exists in Germany :)

    burgerburo: http://www.kleve.de/C12572B30025D73F/html/...12574EC00368C5C

    aufenthaltskarte: http://www.duesseldorf.de/buergerinfo/33/03/34eu03.shtml

moreover, even if you are married the rules and regulations have changed since a couple of years. the foreign wife of a german citizen will have to prove german language knowledge "Goethe Institut Level One".

the german immigration law has changed for germans, not for EU citizens from other countries.
