Hi,
I have to support my non-O visa application with financial details, which require my presenting my Australian bank account statements. I know that all overseas documents must be certified by the Australian embassy.
But I was wondering it was necessary to have the bank statements translated into Thai or would the embassy certification be sufficient.
Thanks for any help

@ubonjoe,
If I provide Thai Immigration with a statutory declaration from the Australian Embassy proving an income of 40k or more baht plus the rest of the usual documentation, can I apply for a one year extension to my present visa on the grounds of marriage at Chiang Mai?
Thanks for your help.

Regarding the income issue, I only have printed out downloads of my bank statements from Australia showing my income. I can get a summary of these and get them translated.
I'm presently on a 90 day tourist visa with about 1 month to run + 1 month extension.
I'm really not sure which way to go here. It seems that I cannot get a marriage visa in Thailand just on this basis, right? So we have to go to Vientiane and get non-o visa based upon marriage, but only single entry? Does this mean 3 months. And after that can I apply for a multiple entry non-o visa in Thailand?
Thanks to both of you for your help and sorry for all the questions.

Hi,
My Thai partner and I got married several weeks ago in Thailand and now I'm wanting to apply for a marriage visa (non-immigrant O ??). On the advice of the Chiang Mai Immigration Office, I've got an income statement, a picture of my wife and I standing in front of our house with the house number plainly in view and a map of where our house is located (courtesy of Google maps). I hope this is all that is required apart from the usual passport copies and pics. Could anyone please advise what application form(s) are required and where they can be downloaded.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the form, much appreciated. I noticed on the form in the box at the bottom left there is a space - "Number of Entries Requested". I suppose it's one thing to request and another to get. Would 2 or 3 entries be within an acceptable range for Thai Immigration?
Maybe this is a naive question, but from memory, the equivalent form I filled in in Australia earlier this year, had a different layout and had spaces for 1 or 2 entries.
I just want to ensure a hassle-free experience in Vientiane

Thanks, it's good to know which days are not so busy. Actually, I forgot to ask whether there is a link for downloading the visa application form.

Hi all,
I'm planning to go to Vientiane to get a 2 entry tourist visa.
I understand there have been changes in the immigration regulations so I'm wondering whether the cost of this visa has changed and also what the turnaround time might be (i.e. the time between applying for a visa and getting it).
Thanks for any help

@ubonjoe, yes it's an extension application and, as you suggested, I've printed it on both sides
Thanks guys for your help, it's much appreciated

Hi,
I have go to Chiang Mai Immigration to get another 3O day extension to my visa. The present one expires on 25 August. Is it possible to download the application form? I would like to get there early fully prepared to avoid too long a waiting period

Thanks again everyone,
I think leaving the truck at Nong Khai is the way to go. I'm not much into driving on the RHS. too much hassle!

Hi guys
Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it very much, particularly the Google maps. Actually, I was only vaguely aware of the possibility of doing a run to Mae Sot. Pardon my ignorance but as I need to get a visa I was wondering whether there was an embassy there. Before asking this question, I tried to check out several Thai immigration websites but I couldn't find any info on this.
There is another factor here, my girlfriend wants to do some shopping in Vientiane, so that's likely to be a major influence on whether we go to Mae Sot or Vientiane
Also I hadn't thought about taking the car into Laos. Presumably no problems? It certainly would be pretty convenient. Any recommendations on suitable hotels?

I intend to go to Vientiane for a 2 entry tourist visa. I live in Lampang so driving to Nong Khai rather than going by bus, is a reasonable alternative.
The only worry I have is whether I can get secure parking for 3-4 days in Nong Khai. Is this possible?

Hi,
I intend to go Vientiane Laos next week to get a visa as my 2 entry tourist visa expires in about 12 days, 26 July. I understand that a 2 entry tourist visa, like the one I got in Australia, can be obtained at the Thai embassy in Vientiane.
I tried to check out the embassy website http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/vientiane/en/consular/consular_check/ to confirm but I couldn't get any information when using the search box - I'm not sure that it was working.
I find dealing with Thai visa issues worrying to say the least So I would appreciated any help that members might be able to offer. .

That's a point about the financial thing that I hadn't thought about. The instructions I got from the Australian Embassy are silent on this, beyond providing a Commonwealth of Australia statutory declaration form which has an entry "my annual income in AUD$$", nothing more in the accompanying notes.
I provided a summary of my income with a Thai translation for the last 12 months taken directly from downloaded bank statements. Perhaps this is not enough. At any rate, at this stage I guess I'm going to have to run with this information.

Hi ubonjoe,
Yes, I have bank statements showing I meet the financial requirements I want to avoid having to go back to Australia just to get a single entry non-o visa. Is it necessary or can I proceed with the "marriage" visa within Thailand. Are there any other alternatives? Maybe the Lao option.
thanks for your help

thanks everybody for all the help
It certainly wasn't my intention to leave things as late as this, but a delay in getting my divorce document from Australia put me about 3 weeks behind schedule
The visa I'm on now is a tourist TR with 2 entries which have been used. What are my best options, go to Laos? Or Bangkok? I take it that the 15 day processing period for Bangkok would be not be a problem.
Please pardon these naive questions. My understanding of Thai immigration regulations is growing but is still very limited

I am getting married to my Thai girlfriend next week. I then intend to apply for a marriage visa. There is some urgency about this as my present visa expires on 26th July. Can anyone advise me how long it takes to get a marriage visa from the Thai Immigration Department
-
I'm going thru the paper work necessary to marry my Thai girlfriend in Thailand. I am now at the stage where I am getting the mandatory personal details statutory declaration and divorce document from Australia translated into Thai as per the requirements of the Thai Department of Consular Affairs.
I guess other Thai Visa members have gone thru this routine and I was wondering are there any particular issues I need to be aware of. I've had a look at the Consular Affairs website (translated) and can't find anything there.
One question I do have is that is it better to hire a local Thail legal company to do the work or is do-it-yourself feasible (or sensible). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks to all of you. Thaivisa.com is a briliiant site. It is an incredibly valuable resource for all us labouring under the burden of Thai immigration rules and regulations.

So I ought to do a border run (Mae Sai) before the 29 May 2015. OK. Then I will have another 60 days on the second entry, right?
thank you for your help

Hi all,
Thank you for your helpful advice. The visa has an enter before date of 8 June 2015 which I guess is the expiry date. But does that apply only to the first entry
Because if I go to my nearest immigration office which is Chiang Mai to get the 30day extension that will seem to take me past the expiry date.

Hi,
I have a tourist visa marked 2 entries. Using it I came to Thailand on 31 March 2015, admitted to 29 May 2015.
Could you please help me with 2 questions
1. Presumably I can do a visa run to Mae Sai for the second entry, but how long is the visa extended for?
2. To get another 2 entry visa, can I go to Singapore, for example, or do I have to return to my country, Australia?
thank you

@Lite Beer thank you much appreciated

Hi all,
I'm in Australia at the moment and I intending to return to Thailand on a 90 day visa. My reasons for this are that:
1. I will be working on an English website project and
2. I intend to get married on return
My question is: do I need a return ticket with a 90 day visa
Thanks in anticipation. BTW this is a great site

I'm applying at Chiang Mai. I'm into the process of applying as I went there on 21 Dec 15 and got a NON-O stamp in my passport with Admitted 21 Dec 2015 Until 19 Mar 2016. But I was advised that I need to come back on 19 Feb and show more documents such as an up-to-date financial statement.
