  1. The guy drives ten freakin kilometers afterwards ? ! It never ceases to amaze me how stone-hearted some people are. Cops won't catch him, as if it weren't tragic enough. So they'll probably charge the car's owner - mark my words and keep us abreast of any updates, please, Webfact.

Charge the cars owner, why not, you really think that the car was stolen???How very handy for the owner.

Yes when you think about it there is more to this than meets the eye

  2. Why not set a maximum limit on your card that can be deducted in one day so that someone doing this kind of thing can't run your card for 200,000 baht if they do get hold of it?

well, I can't get any more than 15,000 out in one day from my Uk bank cards. Even with my Thai bank cards I can't get 200,000 out in one day. This doesn't make too much sense.

Yes 15000 for uk banks, 20000 for thai bank accounts unless!! you change the amount personaly

  3. I've sampled The Breakfast Hut's, Kallot's and Orchid Garden's English breakfasts.

All are very good but Orchid Garden wins on value for money. Great surroundings too, check it out.

I have tried most breakfast places around and morning coffee next to davinci's is the best with great coffee:....

  4. Both Britons are set to be extradited and Thai police said they were in discussions with the Japanese embassy over the Ogushi case.

It would be good if justice in Thailand could be halfway trusted. Guilty or not, I wouldn't trust the Thai courts with a traffic ticket, let alone cases such as these.

The Thai police are arresting Brits at the request of the British Embassy and they are to be extradited to UK. What is the point of the Thai bashing comment about Thai courts?

Maybe if farang police and farang immigrations back in farangland were doing their jobs these miscreants wouldn't be free and allowed to leave their countries to travel to Thailand where the Thai police end up cleaning up for the inept farang authorities.

    good point;)

  5. I didnt think this was possible, if there is a failure they are supposed to stop/lock where they are , i have a friend that works for otis and im sure he told me this, bizzarre

Yes i was under the same impression that there was a failsafe device that clicks in in case of such a disaster, sounds like it could be a typical thai maintanance thing that if it works why service it

  6. What an achievement. Closing down a public hospital used mainly by poor people anbd forcing other hospitals to become over worked and overcrowded. Even if they cant hand the lunatics over you would hope today they would consdier going home or even cancelling the vile hate filled rhetoric and then party music

Wengs apology is ridiculous without action. Go home or hand the paerpetrators over without condition. Sick people and medical workers should be free of interference by gangs known for their violence

have to clear hospital ready for red shirt casualtys :)

  7. Yes, I agree completely. How on earth can Thailand hold its head up when it has a completely stupid law against making a film which shows Thailand in a critical light? Really, how ridiculous is that? The problem is that these influential people are so used to using strong-arm tactics in Thais they really believe they can use them against everyone.

Suppose for instance that the film company managers were fined or jailed. What would the international response be to that? Some of these people just don't think things through very well, and just have a knee-jerk response to everything. For them, to think is to say, to tonk is to do, no intervention at all from the rational mind.

Many Thais I know now remind me of what I have said to them "Kit korn put, kit korn tam" *sigh*. Uphill battle sometimes.

If the company were to fined i for one would like to chip in to pay for any penalty that may be incured, may be this kind of coverage can help clean things up more swiftly

  8. I do think right now is the quiet before the storm in 6 months the Great Depression will be here. Economic upheaval the likes of which Thailand has never seen. No jobs, no money coming in no savings overpriced Baht!

I agree in about 6 months thailand is about to experience a depression, i have been here 5 years and have seen tourisum slowly decline every year, half a dozen of my expat friends have gone home this year, most walking away from the buisness they had, another half/doz hanging on hoping to sell for a fraction of what they paid, also who is going to buy the thousands of new shophouses, flats, appartments, that are being built, they haven't sold the old ones yet. :)

  9. was fingerprinted in Indonesia, Bali for my extension. Every month, new appl and photos.

I have a question for you all with retirement visas. I needed to show up for 90 day check-in with address, etc on the 10th, totally forgot, now today is closed for Queen's Birthday. Will I have to pay a fine for late reporting?

Been there done that! "twice" 1st time didn't realise had to have stamp every 90 days and was 5 months overdue, ended up buying every one a bottle of water to drink "about 6 i think"and just a warning don't do it again because i could be fined up to 5,000 baht . 2nd time 2 weeks over the clerk just commented i don't look old enough to have memory loss, "don't do it again"no fine.

also one time let my bank slip below 800,000 but once again let me off with a warning, must like my face i guess

  10. Hello,

My name is George and I'm from Greece,

I've started a job in Thailand and I want to open a bank account. There are some things I want to clear-out.

Firstly, I want you to suggest me a bank which can provide me e-banking, so I can log-in from outside Thailand, view the balance and transfer money to my bank-account in Greece, Europe.

Secondly, if the above is difficult, I would like to know if there is any bank in Thailand which can provide me with an ATM-card which I can also use outside of Thailand. Especially in Europe. So this way I can use the ATM card in ATMs in Greece and withdraw money.

Thanks in advance and congrats for your great forum !

Siam commercial bank will give you a visa card that will enable to you withdraw up tp 200,000 baht anywere in europe

  11. If you are going to live on your Pension come and have a look at Bangsaphan, we lived on Phuket for 15 years it was nice, but here the people are still Thai kind, u can rent a house for 2500 baht per month. iff you want land still you can still buy for less than 300,000 baht per rai, you will not be sorry, but no tesco no Big C etc that is good for us, and miles of sandy beach,

Any girls there!! just for companianship of coarse.... :)

  12. It amazes me that with all the life sentences handed out, fully covered by the media, that fools in full knowledge of the conditions in Thai prisons still take a chance with their futures when most have the safety net of a welfare system back home. I wonder if the success rate is so high that most mules make it through and they consider it a safe bet. Junkies numbed beyond repair, I can understand, but the rest. Madness beyond belief.

    Regards Bojo

Quite right, thai prisons are notoriously harsh and shoud scare even the hardest of men, and the welfare system is the envy of many thai people that we sometimes take for granted

  13. "Amazing China Lite"

I never once set foot in a Karoke bar/club.... or a video game arena for that matter. No biggie for me, but to think Thailand could even begin to inforce such rules when they can't even stop people fromd driving their scooters down the wrong side of the road, is crazy.

Quite right, just like the mobile phone law, everyone still does it,and they overlooked the 100's of thai men who ride their motorbikes single handed whilst carrying a bloody big bird cage in the other, amazing thailand don't you think
