  1. My wife was in exactly the same boat, but she had a wopping expense of 6,000,000 baht to pay if she wanted to leave her hospital, and also lose her pension as well, so we decided to wait until she has finished her 25 years (end of this year thank goodness) She has reached level 8 and most likely will get level 9 before the end of the year.

She did get training in various parts of the world, and was paid her salary while away training too, but they never took into account all the endless hours she worked in her own time to do things for the hospital, nor did they take into account the paper, ink and many other things that she had to provide herself for doing reports and training modules for other nurses.

Seems a bit one-sided to me, but TiT :o

  2. Thanks LovieCutie,

I checked with NOK several times, no flights available was what I got back each time. I think I will go by train instead :o

I was trying to get a flight BKK to CM on 10th November - CM to BKK 14th November.

The train sounds like a bit of fun though.

    Cheers,

    Reg

  3. I corrected my own statement to be English perfect, but I left hers as it was.

Her English is not perfect, but is certainly understandable.

If I changed it to be perfect, it may effect the meaning, would not be her writing and would certainly not look authentic.

We have yet to submit the visa application, along with these statements.

Just my view of doing what you have asked, I may be wrong, but that is how we both felt about it.

    Cheers,

    Reg

  4. Try 2-4 weeks. This came direct from Thai Immigration. I am 60 years old.

    QUOTE  (from me)

I intended to visit her this year on a class "O" visa and stay for 87 days, but I may wish to remain in the Kingdom a further length of time. I have my flight ticket already.

    QUOTE (from Thail Immigration)

You can get a 2 - 4 weeks extension at any Immigration Office (some give 2 weeks, some 4 weeks). The fee is THB 1.900,00.

  5. Over seven years there is a lot to remember, so I wrote my own story as I could remember it, and sent her a copy over the net. It was about 10 pages.

She added all the things I forgot (she has a great memory as well as other assets)

When she added what I had forgotten, I re-wrote it again, and remembered other things that we experienced as doing also, it all started coming back to me.

After several re-writes I sent it to her and she had already written her own version, it made me very surprised how she wrote, it made me realize how much this girl really loves her husband.

After doing the grammar checks and spelling, I printed mine out. I didn't change anything of hers, left the same grammar mistakes and her wording, not English perfect, but it has its own style (I love to read it)

I added the copies of the visas from the passport pages to show the dates and travelling to Thailand, and also did the same with her to Australia.

I am sure that you will do something similar. It was a very lot of work, but it brought back some wonderful memories.

    Cheers,

    Reg :o

  6. My Thai wife and I (AU) are using PC 2 PC connection for free. It is the best quality I have found, and I have tried about a dozen different systems.

The software you can find on my website, it is free to use. To register is cheap too and worth every cent. The guy that wrote the software is working on some other communication stuff that will come along later, and if this is an example of what he can do, it will be really great.

    Internet Phones

Just click on the Internet phone button on the menu to find out all about it and download.

  7. I wish I had taken many photos of the sky-train when I was there last, I have told so many people about it, but not got any good photos.

I will take care of that next time, and get some of the subway too.

I live in an old railway town, and the people here are all keen on trains, so it makes a really interesting subject.

I have to give a speech on the 28th, gee how I wish I had some shots now.

    Cheers,

    Reg

  8. The Chinese did a experiment over a period of time in exercising the focus of the eyes. They used any objet that they looked at and focused on and changed the position to be closer and then further away. After doing this several times a day over a period of time, it was noticed that eye sight improved.

I found that my eye sight went down quickly after getting into computers, and I put it down to my eyes focusing on a fixed distance over long periods of time.

I agree with P1P, this could be very beneficial, but I concentrate on what I am doing too much and forget about exercising my eyes.

    Cheers,

    Reg

  9. AoS

Just got back from seeing CentreLink, the critiera is worse than what you think.

The amount needed is $32,485 per year TAXABLE INCOME for that last 2 years and ongoing.

If on any pension, i.e. DSP it IS NOT counted as part of your income.

Guess they just don't want anyone coming to AU unless they are filthy rich.

    Thanks Amanda. :o

  10. To take your wife back to AU you will have to sponsor her for 2 years.

To sponsor her you have to fill out an AoS and meet the requirements.

If you don't have sufficient funds, a house to live in and a means of keeping her for at least 104 weeks, a bond will have to be paid ($3,500AUD) This bond can be held for up to 10 years (usually 30 months)

Any Social Security payments that she may have to take will under the AoS will have to be paid back by you, regardless of whether she stays with you or not.

The bond will be used to pay for any of the Social Security payments made to her in any way, but if it exceeds this bond amount, you are still fully liable for any further amounts.

    Best to contact:

They are handling this as a part of CentreLink.

  12. AoS was dumped last month by Immigration, and CentreLink took over on 1st July.

CentreLink know every little about it, so I really got the run-a-round.

I had to travel 220 kms today for an appointment that they couldn't keep, and now I have to travel 700 kms to go to the big smoke to see the head office instead.

Cost of travelling is one thing, but the loss of time is another added expense.

Immigration have dropped the referenses that they had to AoS now, so you have to contact CentreLink now.

I gave you the address already in an earlier posting.

    Cheers,

    Reg :o

  13. Hi Taxidriver,

I think you would be best advised to contact AU Immigration about this matter, because a lot has changed this last month.

If you are intending to return to AU there will be many things that will be taken into account, because they want to have someone responsible for your wife for the first 2 years that she is there with you. This is what AoS is all about, and now CentreLink have taken it over, you know what they are like?

It is really hard to contact Immigration by email in AU, but maybe you can get some help from AU Immigration in BKK?

You have a real postal address of Multicultral Services that you can contact by mail, that could be a good starting point if you have a bit of time. Ask them all about AoS and where to get further information from by post. Tell them your situation as it is and what you want to do, and then they know what questions you are asking.

    Cheers,

    Reg
