  1.

In any hospital there will be doctors of varying competency. It is important to choose the doctor. not the hospital.

I keep hearing this all the time, how do you know a doctor is good, is it the amount of qualifications he has, is it where he was trained, there is a certain amount of research you can do before visiting a doctor, how many people can be bothered to do this when they are ill, they just want to be seen by someone competent!!

I guess if its a procedure or something that is to be sceduled then you do your research and get recomendations from past patients, etc.

If however you rock up in bits having wrapped a moterbike around a lamp post i guess you take what you get rather than asking to review CV's!

  2. I hope that the police will at least be charitable enough to give the cleaned and unclaimed underwear to the poor or perhaps even to women in prison. It would be such a waste to destroy so many garments with so many people in need.

(Yes, I know. Some of you might suggest they e given to the MEN in prison on the basis that they might be appreciated even more!)

A lot of knickerless girls roaming around Bangkok then

  3. I am sorry but I do not think you know what you are talking about. I officiated in Bangkok with 430 athletes and officials in a world championships from all over the world and nobody had a work permit. I know Thailand can be different but, a lot of eastern block country's plus Cuba can be difficult but only with your visa.

Actually, we do know what we are talking about. The fact that you worked illegally in Bangkok has led you to the assumption that you didnt need a work permit. That assumption would be wrong. You did need a work permit and you should have had one.

The law is quite clear. You need a work permit to work. Really - you do ! Pro sportsmen get work permits before they come to events here. So does Madonna, Linkin Park etc etc. they have management who deal with this. The fact that you officiated without a work permit and didnt get caught is an irrelevance. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse !

Of course, the chances of getting caught are slight in a high profile event - however, imagine making the wrong decision against some well connected Thai people...................you'd soon find out that your papers were not in order and they'd kick you out of the tournament!

As a further analogy - and to paraphrase your reasoning, i substituted the word 'officiated' with 'teaching'

I taught in Bangkok with 430 students and teachers in a school with students from all over the world and nobody had a work permit.

Therefore the conclusion i have come to is that teachers don't need work permits........................... :)

  4. Since when does anybody need a work permit to participate in sport. Let's hope the never hold the Olympics in Thailand.

Well, erm, every single professional footballer in the UK (who isnt from the EU) for starters.........................

I think you will find this a bit different when participating in a tournament that is only held over a short period. I have traveled all over the world officiating for the last twenty years and never been questioned about a work permit. Somebody who is living in a coutry permanent and employed in sport I think comes under a different category.

  5. Had problems myself with BOS. I usually make a cheque payable to myself and have not had any problems until recently when the cheque bounced saying they had no record of my signature. I was charged for the cheque bouncing plus the charge here for clearing the cheque. Only had the account with them for 30 years, how can they say they have no record of my signature. This is ongoing with BOS as I am seeking compensation.

  6. Sausages- Waitrose? I've never seen them here.

Waitrose sausages ARE available in CM.

Any branch of Tops stocks them in the freezers.

As for the OP mentioning that Waitrose stuff tends to be bland...I have to disagree, they are one of the most popular supermarkets in the UK.

Not the cheapest, they tend to compete more with M&S than Sainsbury or Tesco and they rely more on quality than price to lure their customers.

Pity the OP never tried the Fish and Chips though...I still maintain they are the best in town.....but Fish and Chips has bee discuseed on several occassions already. :)

Waitrose in the UK are the suppliers of John Lewis stores for most of the foods.

  7. Recently whilst driving I had to make an emergency stop. Unbeknown to me one of these air freshener products that you clip on to your air vent had spilled over. About thirty minutes later still driving I started to fee dizzy, fortunately I was close to home so I carried on. When I got out of my vehicle I could hardly stand up and had to be helped to the house where I lay down, by this time the symptons had got worse as I also had a sore throat. After a sleepless night and feeling worse I went to the local hospital who gave me four lots of tablets and told me to rest.Next day I was just about back to normal and thinking how did this happen with one of these air fresheners. On looking inside my vechile and taking off the air freshener from the vent I was hoffified to find that the liquid had burnt right through my dashboard facia. How can these things be safe to breathe if it does this damage to your vehicle.

On looking at the side of the original box which the air freshener was packaged I see they have a disclaimer for Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore, so no chance of doing anything about it.

So please think twice if you are considering putting one of these things in your motor.

By the way it was a very well known brand.

  8. I would suggest E Cigaretts, these are quite good, since they do not contain all the chemicals, but still contain nicotine. They still produce smoke but with no smell etc. so we smokers can still do our smoking without annoying our surroundings and also it helps the health a bit.. The nicotine level can be trimmed down so in the end you can still smoke but with no nicotine at all.

What is the E cigarette??? I have never heard of them but I would like to know more and can you buy them in Thailand.

  9. Did they really write "run away".

Perhaps Thailand should stop worrying about the 49% foreigners own and do criminal checks before issuing visas! Would make it a better place no doubt!

My other half tells me that on Thai TV they said ''they found the money in his underpants'' That's what you call dirty money (sorry for that)

  10. What greedy idiots are you talking about?

Don't get you mate...............this wasn't a boiler room scam and the victims had no possible way to gain.

These people were in debt and threatened to pay up........then conned into making payment into accounts set up by the villans.

When at Chiang Mai Immigration one day I happened to notice a lorry leaving with about 4 tons of waste paper which of course is a bonus for the staff. But have you ever thought where does it go? That has yours, mine bank account details and print outs of how much money we have in our accounts plus our account numbers etc. So it must be quite easy to find out about peoples account details. Think about it.
