  1. Ask and ye shall receive.

My Mrs takes considerable notice of what I'm doing, particularly if she thinks I'm up to something. I'll admit that good works tend not to receive the recognition they deserve though, but I suspect that's more of a female thing than Thai.

thats the temple!! Thats scary looking if you ask me!!!

    thanks lads!

  2. Hey all.

New to here. I am moving to Chang Rai for a year with my wife early next year, possibly in Jan or feb. I was wondering if you might be able to give me some advice.

I visited there once and my wife wants to go to her village which i know is near that famous temple with the dragons and people coming out of the ground(excuse my ignorance i cant recall what it is called)!

Firstly im torn between buying or renting a house, she believes i can get a house out there for 7,000-10,000e i was wondering if anyone knows if that is possible?

I was also looking to know the general cost of living. I lived in chang mai cheap enough for two months before, i presume i can do the same there?

I am eager to keep busy too, maybe join a local sports team- are there football leagues or anything like that?

I would also like to learn the language does anyone know of any courses availble?

I also need good internet has anyone any advice on that front. its very important to my work that i get a decent conection?

I wouldnt have an adversion to working, id do anything just to set an example to the missus(she thought it was 'impossible' to work here and that i would suffer the same fate there)

i know the questions are general but any help you can give me would be great.

    thanks in advance

  3. I am not to sure if you can help me! Im am getting married in Thailand next month and i was looking to say a little bit in Thai. By all accounts my pronounciation is decent but i wouldnt be able to string more than the basics together!

Is there any protocall as to what the groom should say to the Thai family etc...

    I was thinking of saying

I would like to thank Nid's family and friends for traveling all the way here. I am glad they can be here with us for the day. I hope they are not to shocked by Irish drinking! I hope you enjoy your night and i look forward to getting to know you more in the future.

And then to my wife to be-or my wife at that stage-still sounds mad!!!

Nid, i just wanted to say, in thai so my friends don't understand and make fun of me for sweet talking, that i love you very much.

For me it was love at first sight-until you got off the big high stool-but you made me fall in love again and stopped me from seeing Phi Phi! Now after so many years of holidays i am glad we can stay together for ever. I am happy to be the third love in your life behind noodles and dogs!

You look beautiful today and i know i am a very lucky man to have you. You are even luckier to have a rich, handsome and sexy man like me!

Seriously, i do love you very much and you made me the happiest man in the world today. Although we will be poor for two years i will do all i can to make and keep you happy and all i can do to keep our 20 kids happy too.

Thank you for loving me and for giving me someone special to love!

Any help would be great guys!!

  4. hey, you might be able to help me... I am getting married in Phuket this year. At this point i have nearly 50 guests coming... some of which are family young and old.. i will spend two days in patong as a stag but that aside i dnt want the holiday to be bar based..

My younger sisters will be there-parents aunts etc...as well as alot of friends. I am just wondering is there many things to do other than sunbath and drink....

I know there are certain tours but the last time i done one of them -James Bond isand-it wasnt the greatest... which one of those tours do people recomend.??

Also are there any other things for family fun or so people can see real thailand....

any suggestions or help would be great... i would love a fishing trip or a drive to remote areas etc.
