  1. If martial law can only be ended by a Royal Decree then would it be correct to say that it can only be enforced by royal endorsement too? Surely you can't have one without the other... even in Thailand.

The army has the authority to declare martial law under (I think its) section 188 of the constitution.

The army has the authority to declare whatever the hell it wants. Section "we have the biggest guns" of the Constitution. tongue.png

  2. The dismantling of Jatuporn was so swift it probably put him off his guard. Suddenly, he's posting on facebook. The gatherings on both sides come to a close. Prayuth has done this with admirable evenness. What this does is immediately give a sense of control and containment. People are quickly learning how to be civil again. In some cases, an astonishing transformation indeed. Prayuth has now allowed a climate where things can peacefully proceed - through the Senate, through the Constitutional Court, through the National Anti-Corruption Commission and through all departments of the judiciary and independent agencies. Free expression is preserved. It simply isn't allowed to cross the line. It allows a climate of healing, and for the business of the Senate to proceed as it constitutionally should. A very promising climate indeed.

You had me until "Free expression is preserved."

The part about people being civil is a bit ludicrous, as well.

Not to mention "the promising climate".

Are you in 2014 Bangkok, or 1969 Woodstock?

  3. So the army can surround both groups, make them all go home...and then what? I would like to think there is some plan for the future, but since this is Thailand, I'm sure there isn't. There's nothing to prevent either side from simply coming back with their supporters and doing the same things all over again if they don't get what they want.

  6. no worries, apparently you don't know too much about Thai football, which, if i'm not mistaken, this is what this forum is about

it's always nice to learn a lot about a person through sarcastic, bitter comments

    go Thai Army United!

  7. Is there a new fixture for the second leg of TPL? It seems some of the matches have changed dates

Also, info on the Chelsea game vs the Thai All stars would be appreciated, as well as the Liverpool game in October -

Women's tournies, matches, and friendlies would be great, too -

    thank you!

    Go Army United!

  8. Chonburi looked very strong on Saturday (and thanks to Srirachashark for helping me drum up a ticket!)

Quite a slaughter - 6-1 - I have seen them play enough games that I think they are definitely stronger than PEA, at least as of now - we'll see what happens!

I headed out to Saraburi on Sunday, and was pleasantly surprised to see Sriracha eke out a 2-1 win -

  9. saw the game - a 4-0 drubbing

chonburi looked strong - not only that, the facility is without a doubt, the cleanest, nicest TPL stadium i've been to so far -

thanks to srirachashark for the hospitality, too

  10. I went to Yamaha stadium tonight and saw the AFC Cup match with Muangthong U and Victory SC -

MU really dominated the entire match, but only managed to eke out ONE goal - in the last few minutes, no less -

they also missed a penalty kick!

nevertheless, it was a lot of fun!

off to see Thai Port and Bangkok Glass this weekend!

  11. RTS is a leading sports data provider, and is looking for match reporters to cover home games for the Chiang Rai United, TTM Phichit FC, Buriram PEA, and Khon Kaen FC football clubs. Must have good command of the English language, although the job is NOT limited to native speakers. Pay is 35 Euro, or roughly 1,500 baht per match.

This is a part-time job, and if you enjoy watching football and like to go to Thai Premier League matches, it provides a good source of entertainment as well as a chance to earn some extra money in the process. Qualified candidates, please send a pm.

  12. I was at the Saraburi/Muangthong match -

yeah, I was surprised at how MU played - when I saw them play Thai Army, I thought they looked very good (at least during the first half of that game) - especially their speed -

but during the Saraburi match, they sucked - I felt like I was back in the states watching some high school team play

the saraburi stadium was PACKED - i couldn't find a place to sit, and they jammed people in there for standing room only -

i want to get info/need help with other stadiums/teams around the country - anybody who has been/goes to buriram/sisaket/chiang rai/phichit matches, feel free to send me a message - (you can earn some extra cash, too)

I'll get to see saraburi play again this saturday at leo stadium vs bangkok glass

For the stadiums I have an outdated guide if thats of any help http://www.thaileagu...rticle&Id=89870 and http://maps.google.c...14&source=embed

Should be a decent one at the Leo stadium this weekend.... say hi to Andy (BG Man) from me if you get a chance. I'm off to Chonburi on Sunday to see them play TTM.

Thanks for the google map link - yeah, that helps out a lot! -

saw the thai army/chiang rai game on Saturday- not bad, but the TOT Bangkok Glass game on Sunday was a lot more exciting - Glass really outplayed TOT the whole game, but TOT managed to eke out more goals (with one breakaway goal that was pretty cool)
