Condolences but glad to hear the funeral was a positive experience for you it will help you grieve.

Sorry can't answer your question, I am kind of in a similar situation, my driving licence runs out soon and of course I would need a letter from Immigration.
A friend phoned them last week and they confirmed that they have stopped issuing Certificate Of Residence letters, apparently due to some one kicking up over having to pay for it, who ever has now spoilt it for all of us.(don't know they would expect to get it free, nothing much is free in this world).
Only thing I was wondering is would the Pattaya office issue one for a Rayong resident ?

I understand that some spoke English but it would be better if you went with a Thai speaker that could translate for you, as far as I could see English was not widely spoken.

There is a government hospital in Rayong, I have only been there to visit a friend, it was very crowded, I understand that they have built a new hospital next door
but it is not open yet. My friend that was there had nothing but praise for the staff.
If you are living here already I would suggest you go and take a look yourself, it is the other end of town to the Bangkok Rayong hospital,on the main Sukumvit Road, There are other private hospitals in Rayong however I haven't used any of them personally.

My wife does it all the time, show check in staff Thai and UK passport and Thai Immigration Thai passport if they query no U.K.Visa tell them he has U.K. passport too.
We have never had a problem since dual nationality was permitted.

I have a friend who is a local fisherman near Rayong, he is part of a crew of about 8 men that go out in a small open top boat everyday they earn about 300-500 baht a day if they a lucky. The problem after the oil spill was not so much that they weren't catching fish, it was that nobody wanted to buy them in case they were contaminated. Therefore what they could sell was at a lot lower price than before the spill.
It became so bad for a while after the spill that they had to stop fishing and therefore no income.
I would say that they have a justified claim !

There might be some slight hurdle at the land office.
Maybe you and she have to sign a document stating all the money needed for buying property was in the Thai nationa's possession BEFORE the marriage.
Of course TiT so what is OK in one area may not be in another.
My wife recently bought land and it was straight forward at the land office.
The marriage made no difference as far as I could tell except that they were provided with copies of the marriage cert and change name cert.
I was not asked to sign anything but my Missus thinks that I am a co-owner with her.....
At the end of this month, the final signing will take place at the land office (after the initial sale, it takes about 3 months for all the paperwork to be checked and finalised prior to completing the sale and land transfer.).
I shall pay more attention and try to see if my name is included.....
I thought foreigners may only own condo's, not land.
Confirm that there is no problem for spouse buying land I had to sign to say that it was her money, which much of it was anyway, I don't understand the 3 months for paperwork bit, we agreed the purchase and completed the sale the next day.

Border-run businesses and mini-bus drivers soon out of work?

Then go on a 6 months waiting list, just for a gp, then god knows how long for a hospital visit.I am sure that i dont have a gp, not seen him for 15 years
What a load of old tosh
Indeed.
I have regularly supported your view that if you roll up requiring treatment - you will get it. End of story - the proposed changes just legitimise that.
Instinctively, I made sure I retained a UK address, UK bank account and UK doctor.
My brother, who lives in India, was sick while visiting my Father a couple of years ago, he went to see my Fathers GP and was told that he can't see him and that he must go to A & E. He was told that he could sign up to the GP,s practice after 6 months. Retaining a U.K. presence is a very sensible way to go.

A lot of talk about double decker's, what about the thousands of single decker's I wouldn't be surprised if there are far more of them that are unsafe.

If only ! who knows though, maybe one day ?

If you go the Superich route they give a better rate for £50 notes, but make sure they are all perfect, no tears or writing or they wont (no will any other bank) accept them.

As far as I know he last entered the country in November 2013, but I will have to check with him to be sure, if it was last November he must have done a 90 report since then.
Still both of your answers, for which I thank you both, confirm that he should report.
-
I have just been speaking to a friend in Chiang Mai who is concerned that when he went to immigration for 90 reporting he was told that it is not necessary.
He has a Non Immigrant O Visa extended as a retirement visa. When he last arrived in the country the stamp in his (U.K.) passport is until 14 November 2014
as is the stamp on his arrival/departure card.
He was not happy that what he was told was correct so he went to the airport (CNX) and spoke to an immigration officer there and was told the same that there was no problem.
The way both he and I understood it that you must report every 90 days that you do not leave the country. Has anyone else had a similar experience ? Is the immigration officer right ?
Assuming that you should still report every 90 days I had read on TV about postal reporting. Can someone clarify that option as far as Chiang Mai Immigration is concerned.
Thanks in advance.

My friend has Non Immigrant O visa extended as a retirement visa, he went back to Europe on 06 Dec getting a re entry stamp before he left. He returned on 10 January and the re entry permit is valid until 29 Sep 2014.
My question is this, his last date for 90 day reporting was supposed to be 10 Dec i.e. while he was in Europe, does his 90 day reporting now start anew from 10 Jan when he returned from Europe or should it have been 10 Dec and therefore as soon as possible after his return ?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Maybe Mom thought he was with Dad and Dad thought he was with Mom.
we did exactly that with our daughter, we were going on a family outing to Kanchanaburi using three cars, each thought that our daughter was in another car with
her cousins, we were about 20 minutes out before we realised that she was still at her grand mothers house.

Just done three day trip to Chiang Mai using Bangkok Airways, got a good price only about 100 baht more than Nok Air and as we live nearer Suvarnabhumi than Don Mueang so it was by far the best option. Full (cold) meal service to, no requirement for proof of residency. Was booked while in Thailand so I don't know if that makes a difference.

My Brother and a friend are visiting us in Thailand for 10 days my brother on a U.K. passport so no problems, his friend has an Indian passport so needs to get a visa on arrival. As we are arranging for a taxi to pick them up I was wondering how long it normally takes to get a visa on arrival so that the taxi driver can judge what time to get to Suvarnabhumi, can any one advise on their experiences on getting visa on arrival at Bangkok.
Thanks.

Normal car park, 250 baht/day. Forget about the long term. No need to do anything special to the car, just don't leave the ticket in it.
That's not very sensible advice, mate. Thefts of cars and thefts from cars are very prevalent at the airport car park. Last year police busted a gang which included car park workers after a slew of complaints. I see no reason to be complacent about it now.
Guess I must be lucky, parked there 60 or 70 times for up to 3 weeks, never had a problem. Or maybe my car is not sufficiently attractive.
That makes me feel better
Thanks again, the car was still there when we got back.

Well I am going to take WitawatWatawit advice and get a brake lock and take a chance, I will post a reply if anything happens to the car if I don't assume it was still there when we got back.
Thanks to you all again.

Thank you all for your quick replies

I have got to park up at Suvarnabhumi for 3 days starting tomorrow, does anyone know if there is a long-medium term car park and roughly the cost ? Or is the main car park cheap enough to leave the car there ?
Thanks in advance.
