  1. Hi.

My family and I are coming to Jomtien for our annual holiday in July. Would appreciate if members could recommend restaurants or cafes in and around Jomtien.

    -Japanese (with Sashimi)

    -Indian

    -Thai Seafood

Thanks and I appreciate all of your recommendations.

    Cheers

  2. Hi.

Are the beach chair vendors still operating on Jomtien Beach, serving food and drinks?

If so, is it every day or closed on certain days like a few years ago?

Will be visiting beginning of August.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers ????

  3. I watch the MotoGP races each round including qualifying, plus WSBK when they are on.

Last races I went to were in 2019, Buriram and Sepang (Sepeng was completely packed, the most I've seen it since first going in 2005).

My brother in law was going to the 2020 Buriram race, the ticket could then be used for the 2021. However I had seen somewhere that the powers that be for the 2021 event say that the contract would be renewed for another 5 years from 2022.

Really not sure about the 2021 race. Not sure if he could still use the 2020 ticket for 2022 either.

I'm now stuck in Singapore for the last 1.5 years.

    Mad times eh.

A CB400 was referred to as a big bike so I guess that will be the cut it off level.

Why are you bothered you have had big bikes in Thailand for years.

What I would like to know is how training is going to be introduced or are they just gonna leave it to years on a 300 or age.

    Yes mate.

    Doesn't effect me.

Saying that, my licence expired about 10 years ago and as I haven't lived in Thailand full time since then (working in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur) I haven't been able / got around to, a renewal.

Eventually when I give up the day job I'll apply again. Hopefully by the same conversion as before (conversion of my Singapore license to this new big bike licence).

The theory test all those years ago was highly entertaining.

As you mentioned, would it be automatically issued if the licence holder of the existing bike license had held it for years, and what training?

    Cheers

  5. Anyone know of any further details?

It was bound to happen at some point and not a bad thing, safety wise. No mention of when it will be introduced or the size limit of the bike (exactly what is classified as a big bike), or as the article mentions how many years experience of riding are required to qualify.

What the criteria of the additional test required?

Still, no change to the car license is mentioned. Nothing stopping a new driver getting behind the wheel of any cc size of car.

  6. I have bought one.

Base model, mainly due to the fact that the next model up (Premium) is about 200k extra for 2 x electric passenger seats, electrically operated side doors and some upgrades in interior visuals. Almost everything else is the same.

Due to collect it in 2 weeks.

    Waiting list was 6 months.

Was looking at a new Alphard, but its ridiculously expensive.

    Korat.

  7. I value my head and face so I bought a Shark Pro-Carbon at just over 19.000 baht. VERY good helmet but has a problem with the locking mechanism for the front part half-helmet.

But I'll probably buy a full-helmet (no half split) for longer trips and just use the Pro-Carbon as a half-helmet for city driving. The chin guards are excellent.

If you ride around a bit I really would suggest you buy a good quality helmet that fits you well. Just saw a video on Facebook of a thai big bike rider who t-boned a u-turning SUV at speed. His helmet went flying and he died. So use the chinstrap and see that it is properly tight so it doesnt fly off.

    Good one.

I also bought a Pro Carbon Race last year.

    Great full face helmet.

Also have a HJC rpha 11 and AGV K3 sv.

It's a bit like bikes ....just can never have enough.

  8. Good advice above.

Better dont travel to Singapore for your tourist visa then. As already mentioned it can be an expensive trip if you are short of cash, especially if the result were to be fruitless. Good luck.

Just to note that I have had only good experiences with the Thai Embassy Singapore.

I also am UK but on employment passes since 2001.

I have been going there over the last 13 years. Have been issued 12 month non immigration O on a couple of occasions plus dealt with marraige stuff and passports (Thai citizens).

Never had a bad experience to date.
