  1. Hi All,

As originally stated my previous email was rather sketchy. So I have taken the time to add more information in the hope that someone might be able to assist:

My wife was originally issued with a Marriage Visa on 2nd May 2013. We were then married 9th August 2013.

She was then granted a spouse/partner leave to remain visa that ran 06/12/2013 - 06/06/2016.

She then fell pregnant and departed the UK on 20th march 2014. Our son was born 12th December 2014.

Up until now she has resided in Thailand with our son as she wanted to stay with her family for added support at that time.

She now wishes to return to the UK.

What I would like some help with, is advice on whether she can return on the original visa in order for us to start the process of asking for a FLR? visa within this time as the previous visa is still valid. If not what avenues are still open to us.

Thanks in advance for any assistance that any of you can give with this matter.

  2. My wife was granted a partners visa just under 2 years ago. However shortly afterwards she returned to Thailand for the birth of our son. So only spent a few months in England after receiving the visa. The visa is due to expire on June 6th. And we would like to renew it. With her returning to the UK permamnently. Could anyone please advise me as to what visa/extension we will need to apply for and if this can be done if she returns now and we start the process. Or will we need to start again from scratch.

My apologies for the vagueness of this, however any advice would be appreciated.

  3. Long winded question here. I hope that someone can help.

I am getting married this week to my fiancee, who is here on the 6 month fiancee visa. After the wedding she needs to return to Thailand for 2 weeks in order to undertake some family business. She will be returning whilst the visa is still in date.

My question is. Can she return to Thailand for 2 wekks and return on that visa without any problem?

Thanks in advance for any help that can be given on this.

  4. 7by7,

Fully agree with everything you have just posted. They are human beings and are open to too much criticsm at times, without being able to reply. I Would like to thank yourself however, for all of the sound advice which you given both directly an indirectly over the past 3 years that gave me the confidence to go forward with our application.

All the best and keep it up.

  5. Hi There,

Just to answer a couple of questions:

The embassy tried to contact my partner on the 5th March in order to ask for some further documentation. Unfortunately she did not check her emails and it wasnt until they phoned her on the 21st (last Thursday) that we found out what they wanted. After I scanned though the relevant paperwork to them on the Friday 22nd, she received an email confiming that a decision had been made on the following Monday. After that she had to wait for her passport to arrive on Friday 29th for confirmation that the Visa had been granted.

I reckon that the holidays had a fair deal to do with the wait (as well as her not checking the emails).

We put in our travel date as the 4th of March, so that didnt run too well.

They give you an APET number which throughout the process just tells you that your application has been submitted to the Embassy. Checking that every day just adds to the agony. And it only changes after the email has been sent confirming that a decision has been made so its more or less a waste of time.

I believe that they will communicate with whichever email you submit, and its apparent that if we had used one that was checked more frequently the process should have been a lot quicker.

The main thing I have taken away from all of this is, dont take anything for granted and get ready for an anxious wait for when the passport arrives back.

All the best of luck to anyone else out there that is tring to get this done.

  6. Firstly I want to bring my girlfriend of four years in order to get married in the UK. Can somebody please put me in the right direction for the correct form. I know that it is a fiance visa but want to make sure that I am filling out the corref V--- form.

Right that was the sarcasm bit!

Secondly, Is there a template of all the information that they want to know within the letter from myself. If there is one on here please point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your help in advance.

  7. Can anyone give me adice on how to go about getting this sorted quickly.

I am not trying to cut corners here.

My fiance lives in Sakaow and obviously we would like to take the test as close to here as possible.hat possible? Is t If not where is the closest possible location?

How much does the test cost?

My fiances spoken english is good but her written is not that strong. Is that a great handicap? Any other advice in general, advising on general tripfalls and red tape would be appreciated.

  8. Hi,

Ive got some payslips and bank documents needed for a visa application that need delivering from the UK to Thailand (The location is in the sticks). These papers have to be delivered. Do any of you know of a reliable system to ensure that they get there safely and quickly. The reason for asking is that I have sent papers before and they have gone astray and I want to ensure that they get there this time.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  9. May one ask why the OP is asking?

    No probs,

I'm currently sending over 25000Bht per month. An amount which I have always thought a bit steep. But with no real experience of living in the bush to ascertain what is a reasonable amount I have found it hard to make an informed estimaite and make any changes.

That is why I am asking for as many replies as possible.

    Hope that helps.

    G.

How did she survive before you were sending that amount? seems way too much for a village girl. You'll be telling us next that it's not your son, her husband died in a motorcycle accident, and the guy next door is the uncle.

She had a job. And no it wasnt in a bar or anything in that line of business.

There has never been any doubt of my sons parentage. I am his father.

It might help if you do not base your replies on your own experiences.

If you have anything to say regarding the original question that should suffice thanks.

  10. I spend nowhere near 25k between 3 of us and I live in Bangkok. Granted I don't live a lavish life style but we have all we need plus a few luxuries.

About 3.5k a week sees us live quite comfortably. That includes good food, beer, nights out and stuff.

I wonder if the OP's other half enjoys a game of cards or two?

    LOL.

    Good un.

    cheers.

    Alright.

The amount you are sending is alright - it might seem high for 'surviving' [to Thai standard], but I think you want her to more than survive and also most gf's of westerners get used to more than surviving when the partner is visiting...and are often 'assumed' to have more money than average people and if the partner isn't supplying it she will be told in no unsure words that the farang is a cheap-charlie.

So, it might seem high when you tap the calculator but it isn't.

My advice is to always give as much as you can and feel comfortable doing.

    Thanks for the advice mate.

Will try to follow your guidance here.

  13. I know that this question has been asked in the past but can we please review it and bring it up to date.

How much is realistically needed for a mother and child to live in the bush per month.

Factor in the milk and nappies.

No rent as house is owned. No western food to factor in etc etc. If you think of any other needs then factor that in.

    Enough to live comfortably.

I know that the amounts depend on various other factors but would be interested in getting a rough idea as to what other posters see as being a suitable amount.
