  1. I just wonder if this lady knows what she is getting into- because she is effectively 'rescuing' people from businesses which support various authorities.... and her god will hopefully help her if she gets into the Thai-Thai prostitution scene, because there she won't be tolerated at all.

I generally support the efforts of NGOs except inasfar as those efforts are religiously based, or focus only on the tiny areas of social problems which are connected with foreigners. Mostly the NGOs seem to have a tacit agreement not to delve further because otherwise they would lose their welcome mat- a deal with the devil, so to speak.

Prostitution is a buisiness. Legal in some countrys - not in otheres. Legal or not it is widely accepted and tolerated. Many of our chosen leaders are not averse to using the services offered in the worlds oldest game. This girl is a naive nuisance. Many familys depend upon the income gained through the buisiness. so what is her purpose othere than some self rightious satisfaction?

  2. Thank God there are people like Celeste McGee in this world. What some don't understand is that she is gaining merit by j attempting to help these prostitutes and not by how often she is successful.

Thanks churchill for starting this topic.

But shouldn't she be helping in her own back yard. surely 'charity starts at home'

Houston is a major hub for child traffickers. (Houston's hidden crime)

A 2007 study from Shared Hope International found 400 child trafficking victims being exploited in Las Vegas in a single month.

At least 100,000 children are used in prostitution every year in the United States.

The average age of entry into prostitution is 13 years old.

  3. Oh, and I wonder how many guys out there have paid one of these young ladies a fair amount of baht per month to stay out of this terrible buisness, only to find that as soon as their ass is on the plane they're straight back on the pole.

Let's forget being PC for a moment.

Q: Why do you think well paid (supported) girls head back to the pole in such a hurry?

    A: They enjoy their work.

Rubbish - most are addicted to drugs or alcohol and it's the only way they know to get money.

If they are supported by Fred the 50 year old fat baldy butcher from Scunthorpe, they'll maybe go back to find a better model.

I strongly object to being personaly brought into this debate - surely this is against forum rules :)

  4. The Well had rescued 65 women at the end of the program this year, she said.

    :D

Suuuuuure....and you're paying them all 50,000 baht per month, and they're STILL secretly working at Soi Cowboy behind your back. What a retarded article.

Well I have rescued 65 girls also (approx over the years) at an average of 2000 baht per girl. So - yes - she is paying way over the top.

Thats why I prefer to rescue them for just one night each :)

  5. from a neutral point of view, it's kind of amazing the immediate negative reactions this post got

Obviously it is plain to see this woman is a PC fruit-loop. Dangerous given the right set of circumstances and an equaly naive self rightious audiance. More to do back home:

  6. I remember very well the report in the BKK Post several months ago - front page - which listed 15 natural items, including lemon grass, garlic and chillis (yes chillis) as hazardous substances. Thus making it illegal for farmers to use such items as natural peticides etc. The government were obviously quite happy to push this disgracefull lie on behalf the big chemical corps.

However, the farmers wouldn't take this without a fight and several days later the Government backed down. (Obvious who the Government represent - not the people!)

For anyone interested, this evil system is being forced upon farmers and the general public throughout the world - soon even common vitamins will be restricted. Just google 'codex alimentarious' or watch this:

    I'm guessing you're American?

You guess wrong then mate! So I take it you think this is BS and you wouldn't spend your precious time to research. You make an inane statement showing the depth of your intelect - whats the relevance of my nationality to the facts I state :)

  8. Is it at all possible to buy legaly in Thailand. The company route seems to be illegal -using a nominee set up. Buying in the wifes name is illegal if the money comes from the ferang husband. So what way can a ferang buy without having the threat of future problems?

Firstly the Company route is not illegal provided the Thai shareholders are not nominees.

Secondly the Thai wife of a foreigner may own land but he must sign away his rights to the funds he gave to her for that purpose.

Thirdly, a foreigner may own a Condomnium.

Fourthly, a house (as opposed to the land it sits on) can be owned in the name of a foreigner and registered as such. The land can either be leased or held under a legal company structure - ie no nominees.

Maybe so but in reality most foriegners who have bought using a company have done so using nominee structure - as pushed by their lawyers. And as for buying in wifes name - who in their right mind would buy having to sign away rights to the funds.

I have never met anyone yet who hasn't regreted buying a house in Thailand.

You need to get out more.

The vast majority of my friends either built their own houses or bought one and I cannot think of one myself included who has regretted this. It seems to me alot of the posts on this subject are made by people who have never actually bought in Thailand.

Vast majority of friends :D What a popular guy you must be. I bet you get out alot :)

  9. So..I am helping my friend to track this girl.

he strongly believes that she lives with her parents in Ekkamai (don't know the address).

I called to AIS to check the name of registration that she used when bought the SIM card, they said its 12call and no ID is provided (whats a secured Thai!) when buying.

The only thing I can see to get the contact details from Siam commercial Bank from her bank account number. Any idea how to get that?

or Should my friend file a cheating case with Police?

Better to report your friend for being so dumb

  11. The Areca Lodge is a decent hotel representing good value for money and very central. Also popular with the golfing crowd. Often full throughout the year. However one of the reasons for it being full out of season could be that many people are moving down from more expensive hotels.

The Siam group of hotels are absoulute hovels and in no way should be compared to the Areca Lodge

As I expected, a negative remark from a Newbie poster who has probably never set foot in Pattaya or indeed a genuine hovel.

New to this forum but not new to the planet or Pattaya (20 years). Stayed in the Areca many times - and the Siam hovels when they were new. Viewed the rooms a year or so back when a friend was looking for accommodation - absoulute sh*t holes. What a pathetic statement - 'A NEWBIE'.

So as a 'newbie' my opinion is worth less than a more seasoned poster - yes I get it <

PS Sydney I would guess that you have never stayed in a half decent hotel if you consider the Siam Hotels habitable!

  12. Been trying to book the Areca Lodge from mid September but fully booked up. Thought it was supposed to be dead in Patatya!

How do you try to book? Directly with them or through AsiaRooms or one of the other on-line booking sites?

Ive tried Areca Lodge web site asia rooms and a few other web sites. Comes up the same.....nothing available!

Apparently this is due to the free rooms promotion in Pattaya which were used as an initiative to boost tourism. Since Areca Lodge is prominent on the Thailand internet accommodation booking sites they quickly became full.

However Areca Lodge isn't the only accommodation to be had in this area. The Siam group offer bargain accommodation and can be found on Soi Buckhaew, Soi Honey and Soi 11 and more locations in Pattaya.

On the odd occasion, even on Thai Visa these places are criticized for minor reasons but they represent value for money and are somewhere you will want to return to again and again and again.

  13. Update: Blood test shows poor Kidney and Liver function and Anemia. Also syptomatic mouth ulcers - mouth leaking still, after 4 days of treatment as inpatient at vets. Being treated with anti biotics by syringe feed at home, and vitamins for anemia. Vet said that this all adds upto HIV.Seems that here in Thailand they prefer to treat terminally sick animals as we do terminally sick people in the west - i.e. let them die in agony :)
