  1. Better you go early, as the 30 day extension is based on the permission to stay stamp expiry date, not the date you make the Tourist Visa extension.

If your visa expires on a Sunday, then the Monday is too late to extend it; also you will be fined 500THB per day overstay.

Are you sure ? Somewhere else in Thailand, having the same situation, I could extend on a Monday, but maybe Phuket has different rules ?

  2. Are you basing your issue on a single call? If so maybe make a few more phone calls. If you still have a problem take it back and exchange it or trade up.

You can go to the manufacturers retail outlet (Nokia has one in most malls) and try using any model you might be interested in purchasing. Most of these shops are enclosed and reasonably quiet. If you like it you can always buy it somewhere else.

I tried looking for the 5130-C2 user's guide, and customer problems but couldn't find this model. Is it an XpressMusic model? Was this phone purchased new?

Yes, it's an XpressMuzic model. And it's new.

  3. Do you know how to increase the volume? If not write what model it is and someone will tell you how to set it at maximum. Or ask in a Nokia shop.

I checked my phone again and I found a "voice clarity" option which was preset on "inactive" which I've just changed into "active". Haven't had any phone calls yet but this might change the situation...:whistling:

  4. yes there is a small organic/health food supermarket which is very popular with thais near khao san, as you go towards gullivers end of khao san turn right where the police station is and keep walking on that side of the pavement and along that way you will come to a alot of street stalls selling many thai foods a few hundred meters from the police station and that is also where the supermarket is.

There is a rather big supermarket and before you get there a smaller supermarket called "Nittaya Thai Curry", are you referring to this shop ?

  5. I'm using Thai purchased Nokias for 10 years or so, and change for a new one few times per year, the last 2 ones, a Nokia 1280 and my current C1 Dual Sim however have this problem too. Beside this, the new 1280 showed every few hours an annoying 'insert simcard' message and needed a restart.

They should not stop producing the 3310 Classic, was a very good one that never had any problems.

However I think still a Nokia is the only well functioning phone.

Smallest phone I had here was a Panasonic not bigger then a small matchbox, kind of keyhanger  I miss the phones with an antenna on it... :D

    Pagers are also gone...:D

  6. It would help if you stated the model of the phone. My guess is that the volume is not on max. I a, surprised because I have 2 Nokia's one Thai, one UK and the sound quality is very good. try increasing the volume.

    Cheers, Rick

It's a Nokia 5130c-2. The sound quality is not nearly as good as the Nokia Classic 3110c.

  7. I bought a new Nokia phone for 3000 Baht. To my surprise, the audio quality (when receiving a phone call I couldn't hear the other party clearly) wasn't what I'd expected to be.

Since noisy shopping malls are hardly the place to check the audio quality, I wonder how to avoid a disappointment like this ? Actually, I thought Nokia would be a safe buy.

  8. Every mobile phone I have had in the last 10 years records

every call that comes in and if you do not answer it puts

it in the "missed calls" folder.

I doubt any phone these days does not have this capability.

But you must leave the phone on and on the charger sitting somewhere safe.

I know in the US you do not need to leave it on as you can find out who

called when you check in turning it on the next time. Not sure if this can

    be done in LOS.

What do you mean with " but you must leave the phone on the charger "sitting somewhere safe." ?

  9. I'll be out of Thailand for about 2 weeks. I won't take my mobile phone and sim card with me.

Is it possible to set up my mobile phone in such a way that all callers to my mobile phone will be registered so that on returning I'll know exactly who called me ?

  10. That's either secondhand or not a genuine HP adaptor.

Genuine power adaptors and batteries for laptops are quite expensive.

Edit: Having said that, generic adaptors usually works fine, so the 850 baht adaptor probably works fine.

Do these adaptors also function as a kind of buffer against black-outs, or is this integrated in the battery ?
