  2. What are the commonly applicable or negotiable interest rates (per year) on a real estate loan? Is there any Bank to prefer for a loan? I am not talking here if a foreigner can or cannot get a loan, just want to know about the conditions if the loan would be possible. Thanks for related and helpful replies.

  3. Hi,

I am 64 years old, living in Bkk (again) since 3 years on a retirement visa (Non-O/A). My previous employer (2005-2009), a Thai company would like to hire me again. Is it possible to change my actual Visa back to a Non-B (I think that's the one I had at that time) with work permit without leaving the country?

Maybe someone here has already had the experience or the knowledge before I start a difficult journey at the immigration in Bkk.

    Thanks to all helpful comments/advises.

  4. It's strange how the international media always seem to leave out the 'Thaksin link' when they report on this. It's such an important piece in the puzzle that to me it even feels suspicious that they don't mention this, almost like he's greased a few palms in the west (oh it does happen!). Instead they talk about the 'rural poor' versus the 'elite', and associate the word democracy with the very people who ruin the very idea by happily selling their vote fot the price of a couple of beers!

I think that the bbc/cnn and the rest of these 'non-biased' organisations should get to the real truth which is far more interesting than the story which they're currently reporting.

Why don't they ask the red shirts how much they're getting paid? Ask them why they think Thaksin is so great and what he could do for the country should he return. Ask them how they think that Thaksin, as a convicted criminal, could possibly plan to be taken seriously by the international community, should he manage to bully his way back into office.

Ask them why they are using women and children as a human shield.

Ask them why they risk their lives for a greedy evil billionaire?

Why can't the press get an interview with Thaksin? A few well placed questions will simply destroy him.

Why don't the international media do their job rather than appearing to be the heroes in the danger zone, reporting alongside the red-shirt 'freedom fighters'?

My point? It appears that Thaksin has more than just a few red-shirts in his back pocket!!!

BRAVO!!! But mercenaries not mind about who is the guy. As long as they get paid. And western news agencies like blood over truth, even if some of their "reporters" or should we call them "report distorters" get killed.

  6. Id probably say avoid the beach road of pattaya, insurance and registration will be questionable,. i know you said big traile ,but thats a rare one, although as someone said you may get a bike ( aprilia pegaso ) similar in chiang mai,...a beter choice would be a kawasaki er6n, chances are all the paprerwork will be right,.good luck,. :D

Thanks for all responds :D . The rental would have been from Bkk or at least Pattaya. Chiang Mai is out of reach :D . On another hand I really will give up this search as paperwork, insurance matter aso. seems to be more than questionable :D . I'll give them a few good addresses to rent good and cheap cars here in Bkk and they can take what decision ever :) .

    Again thanks and cheers

  7. Where do they plan on picking up the bike?

Pattaya Beach will have some, and they will cost at least 500 baht / day, maybe 800 or more. They will need to walk along Beach Road or on the other streets in the tourist area to find the bike they want.

In Pattaya, where more bikes are rented than anywhere else, the general contract prohibits driving outside of the general city area.

They would first need to ask for this to be waved.

Also, IF somethig were to go wrong, an unusual bike like that would be difficult to find repair parts for.

    Best of luck to them.

Thanks for advise. Will try a bit more here in Bkk and if not find I can probably not avoid to go to Pattaya 1 of the coming weekends.

  8. Hi there,

a couple (42/48) of German friends of mine are visiting Thailand in October. This time they asked me to check for a Motorcycle rental during 3 weeks. It should be a bigger "Enduro", Tenere, Africa Twin, or other from 600cc up. The bike should be allowed to travel through the country (Chiang Mai, Sankla Buri, Bangkok, Phuket...etc.). They have appropriate drivers license, experience and equipment.

They came over already more than 20 times and even speak Thai, so please do not waste comments and opinions on how dangerous or inappropriate motorcycle traveling is over here ... I told them already.

As I still hope to dissuade them, I am also looking for a Suzuki 4x4 with soft-top or similar. This could be an alternative.

Does any1 have a good address or proposal? Please indicate phone and city if so.

    Thanks in advance
