1. Lose her sim card and get her another sim number, show her who's in control, because at the moment she is.

If you can't do that, then you deserve whatever crap she'll pull on you. There has to be someone in control, if it's not you, then it's not you.

Simple as that, if you don't like my answer, then continue doing what you've been doing, obviously it works perfectly.

  2. OK, I've found my condo, now maybe in one year I'll post again here, but honestly it was very useless.. I don't recommend thaivisa to look for a condo, I mean to post about you looking for something.. Surely there must be people posting their properties for rent, so you can use thaivisa to look for places to rent, but if you're looking for something other than a studio, then better not waste the time of posting here.

  3. Why I sign as Kola? Well that's my username here.. I don't understand your point, as far as being an acceptable tenant or not it depends on everyone's opinion, but I pay on time and don't make noise, I don't bring prostitutes either since I'm living as couple and finally I'm moving out of this appartment because the 6 months contract will end and I want to find an even better one. This one is fine but there are better ones for sure, just for more money, and the problem is actually finding the owners to talk to.

Agencies and adverts are mostly for studios, and there's only a selection of bigger condos..

Ideally there should be a place online where one can put what he's looking for, and agencies and owners browse this place and offer what they have. I know this place is called a forum, but take thaivisa.com for instance, only a very small amount of agencies will read the forum and my post.. So that's not ideal, there should be a common place for all pattaya agencies to find customers..

Of course I'm also at the same time doing it myself by going to agencies and visiting, but that's long and boring, also there's a problem because of the high season and many things are rented for some weeks until end of march, so they can't cancel the bookings to put me in a 12 months contract instead.. Bad timing from my part..

  4. Hi, I'm on the market to rent long term a place in jomtien, here are my requirements, if you or someone you know, have something on offer, please contact me for visiting:

    - from 90 sqm and up

    - very good sea view (closest to the sea front is the best)

    - corner unit would be better but not essential depending on building location, but balcony needs to be enough to put a table and chairs... not too small.

    - large lcd screen, one minimum but one in bedroom also wouldn't hurt at all!

    - landline internet connection (not wifi from building)

    - high floor

So that's my basic requirements, for the budget it's not an issue right now and will be discussed depending on the condo..

For long term contract, 6 months or 1 year, will be discussed as well as the price later on.

Start of rental can be from december or even november, maximum january.

First please send me your offers. Please note that I'm already living in jomtien, so I am available for visits.

    Cheers,

    Kola

  5. Hi, I switched from EDGE unlimited plan to 3G unlimited plan (with edge and wifi too) yesterday evening, all seems good, except I can't get any 3G signal, it still show the E of the edge logo.

I have a nexus s, I'm in jomtien pattaya which is shown to be covered by 3G on the coverage map on the ais site.

I have never used 3G before anywhere. What do you mean by "configured the equipement properly APN" ?

When I go to settings > wireless & networks > Mobiles Networks > Access Point Names

I have two choices, AIS Internet or AIS MMS, Ais Internet is selected which I think is ok, if I click on it shows several settings, it is already setup, what do you think needs to be modified in those settings, I haven't found anything special to do on the ais site on the page about configuring nexus s, it seems effortless.

Note that I haven't been to pattaya city yet to see if it's just a problem of coverage or if it comes from my phone's settings or anything else.. I have a feeling that when I'll go to pattaya city, it still won't show 3G on my phone, I don't know why, but I trust the map about 3G coverage and suspect something not going well with my phone settings, that's why I ask. Thanks.

  6. No, there is no free water as far as I saw, no water fountain at least.

In fact there is at least one small changing room I spotted on the third floor, but nothing fancy, no need for it really.

About the 24 hours, that's what I gathered by talking with a male employee and insisting on the fact that 24hours didn't mean closing at midnight. But I didn't have a chance to check it out by myself in the night and now I'm back in my country for a few months.

So if indeed it is not open 24 hours it would be just one more of those not so uncommon misunderstandings..

  7. just a quick update, the tony gym in jomtien has opened for about a month.

I went there 4 times. They say it's open 24h which is a plus, but for how long?

There are 4 floors, each have machines except the top floor which has two massage baths, one hot one cold as well as a sauna with 2-3 seats.

Each floor (maybe not the first/ground one, I don't remember as I don't exercice on this one) have one toilet/shower for boy and one for girls. The lockers are in the room, on each floor. So there is no changing room.

They don't give towel or padlocks, but can be rented for 40 baht each.

If you want to test it, the best is to pay 180 for one session, after 4 sessions you get one free. This is only for this gym.

After you can take other schemes like 10 sessions for X bahts, for all tony gyms.

The 180 per session was more interesting for me as I will have unfortunately to leave thailand for several months. I'll probably take a one year subscription when I return.

  8. I went to Manhattan steak house last saturday 3rd, jazz started at 20:00

Well, for sure the settings is not my cup of tea, too high service which probably will result in prices, but anyway I came only for the music even if I ate too:

    one piano (good)

    one singer/saxophonist/flute player (excellent)

    one female singer (good)

and ipod for the backing track.

Very low volume, slow and low, so as not to disturb the customers who are for the most part more interested in talking loudly about their uneventful lives than listening to the music or respecting other wanting to hear it.

So the fault is from two sides : music too low, audience not interested.

I will never go back to manhattan for the jazz and it has nothing to do with price.

I would love to hear the singer/saxophonist (name's mark i think) in a settings where he can really play freely.

  9. I went there yesterday for nothing. They let the ad run in pattaya people newspaper so that stupid guys like me come to their restaurant to find that there is in fact no jazz session.
Now I talked to the staff again and she says now, it will reopen in 2 months. I told her that they should cancel the ad in pattaya people saying that mondays have jazz, she said will do, but why don't I believe at all that it was a mistake, like if I was the onlly one coming on mondays (like yesterday night) for listening to jazz as announced in the newspaper...

Anyway, I'm getting tired a little bit of hopf where I once again ended up eating to listen to something quiet.
After I also went to the blues factory for the first time ever, well that's blues, so not jazz or easy listening.
10. Actually I was waiting in immigration office today and I read pattaya people newspaper and there was in the calendar events section a text about having jazz monday (today) starting from 8pm at PIC Kitchen, so I'll have a look inside tonight.

I didn't say that the Jazz Pitt is gone, PIC Kitchen was open when I went to check it out, but not the Jazz Pitt, and the staff told me they finished plyaing one month ago due to low season but will resume some time in the future (he didn't know since it's the boss who knows about that)

But I guess the reality is in fact they must have less jazz sessions, maybe once a month, but the staff didn't tell me that or let's say I didn't understood that.

On the other hand, yesterday I tried to find Mojo Club and went into the soi which I think is the "Jomtien Complex Condotel" where there are gay bars in jomtien, asked people from the street but they don't know about it, and I walked around and didn't see anything looking like a jazz club even with another name.

  11. I've found another one, went in to check but since it's low season, they play live jazz only once a month, next time is saturday 3rd july.

Also on internet I've find a name, Mojo Club with the description saying there is jazz club and musician, but I've yet to visit it.

    So I repeat the list:

    * Manhattan's Steakhouse, Nirvana Complex, Thappraya Road (on the hilltop between Pattaya and Jomtien)

Live Jazz only once a month in low season, need to look inside for next date

    http://www.manhattans-pattaya.com

    * PIC Kitchen, Pattaya beach road (or 2nd road) soi 5

No live Jazz in low season

    http://www.pic-kitchen.com

    * Hopf Brew House, on beach Beach Road just on the corner of soi 13/2

Every day but sundays. Best time is from 11pm onwards since the drummer/singer farang starts to play long time, before it's only the thai band, they play/sing good but with the farang it's better.

    * Mojo Club, Jomtien Complex Condotel, off Thanon Thep Prasit, Jomtien

Never visited, descriptions says it is a relaxing jazz club where you can sing your blues away with the talented musicians, need to check if any of this is true.

  12. Thank you, I went to PIT KITCHEN, soi 5, last night and talked to the staff, from what I've gathered, they stopped having live band music one month ago and will start again "when boss tell me" so probably a few months before high season.

  13. Hello, I searched the forum for jazz pattaya and couldn't find anything.

I'd like to know where I can go listen to jazz live band in the pattaya area, and maybe eat and/or have a drink.

I can only tell you one that I found it's on beach road, name is Hopf, I don't remember the soi, maybe 7.

Inside you have good musicians including a farang who sings really good and play drums, with him are two keyboards, one guitar and one bass and lots of electronic equipment, the sound is really excellent.

The venus itself is a restaurant and also serves drinks, very nicely decorated.

This is perfect for me, but they don't play only jazz, they play several kind of musics.

So that would be perfect, but after a while I'd like to also have other similar (jazz) venues to go to and also on sunday Hopf doesn't have the band.

Thank you if you can direct me to such a list of jazz venues in the pattaya area, or add the ones you know with as much infos as possible to locate them, as I'm not really good at finding places and have some communication problems with mototaxis, especially when I don't know exactly the names of places in thaiglish :-)

  14. NBD it's easy for you to say do it, you won't lose anything..

I could say do it too and appear like a good soul..

But I take the "risk" and say too don't do it, because unfortunately in UK it's not the same story, if she can stay long enough or has thai friends already in uk, she will be well aware of their rights as a wife or worse a mother.

If you want to give your future self such a hard time, ok let's do it now!

Of course it may not happen to you afterall, I can be drunk and drive safely home, no accident. Everything is possible in the good way or the bad way. But people who don't drink and drive tend to have less accidents, but they can still have them for other reasons.

So it's up to, but if you want to marry and all, don't do it in stupid countries such as western's ones.

  15. Readers from other countries like to read that thailand is all about prostitution because of white tourists and that child prostitution is rampant. So she writes for the audience, like singers sing songs people like. We all want to make money I guess :-)

If she wrote things which don't go with what people want to read, her paper would not be published in slate and many, so maybe she works she does not write for the fun of not getting paid.

But maybe she really thinks that, then it's just one more stupid person, not the first one neither the last one :-)

Maybe she geniuly cannot understand that white men prefer to stay in thailand because they are fed up with politics in their own country or violence, or high prices for bad service, etc, etc. Here we can be on long holidays, take a step back, rest our mind, not hear all people speaking our language when we don't want to, not care about politics because it's not our country anyway, and we pay lower or same prices but for better service and smiles.

As for sex, honestly it's a basic need not only for humans, but masturbation helps lower the costs, since when you're empty down, your head takes back control and you don't need anymore sex. But that most girls cannot feel it, some can go on for weeks without masturbation or sex, I don't believe it's even thinkable for the majority of men.

  16. Hello, I play chromatic harmonica and was looking for music sheets and backing tracks of traditional thai music the other day in Pattaya's music shop near Tesco Lotus, but found nothing (most books they have are with guitar tabs) so I went to Tesco's SE-ED books shop and found one set of DVD+audio CD+music sheet booklet of the King's compositions.

But arrived home I noticed that the DVDs are 1. learn how to play the tunes on keyboard, DVD 2 are the melodies played on keyboard and the audio cd are the tunes played with both melody and backing track.

Now, what I'm looking for are backing tracks of those tunes only with the melody muted, so I can play over with my harmonica.

Do you have any idea where I could find that? My Google skills showed their limit with this search. :-)

Alternatively, do you know where I could buy in Pattaya or Bangkok, well known thai songs written in standard music notation along with a CD with backing tracks?

    Cheers,

    James

  17. Please don't laugh at me I'm already enoughly ashamed.

I switched off the phone, turned it back on and it wrote no sim card.

Then I switched it off again opened it, removed and reinserted the sim, switched back on and it works fine now.

My only lame excuse is that I didn't have a mobile phone for 4 years prior to buying this one based on Windows Mobile when I came to Thailand. I know it's not a good excuse, since I know rebooting a PC usually fix bugs, but that's my only one :-)

Thank you Spoonman for trying to help me.

  18. No unfortunately people I know have left and I'm on my own, with just one phone and one simcard, but yes it's possible I'll ask someone I don't know and see if it's a problem from my phone. Maybe I will do this simple test directly at tukcom phonebooths. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll eventually get around it, I simply wanted to see if it already happened to someone before, losing network for days with a 12call sim card bought at 7/11. But it was weird because each time I added credits the validity date was getting farer and farer and I think it was lately sometimes in 2011. :-)

  19. Thank you for your answer. No I didn't try to add credit after I've realized I got no network, and I'm sure I can't and will receive the same no network message than when I want to check the balance. But I added credits maybe one or two days before I realized there was no more network. And I didn't call or use credits in between. So that's why I'm sure there are credits and it's not a matter of having no credits for too long and cancelling of the sim.

I didn't try to get help before because I thought it could be a temporary shutdown realted to the national curfew or even some local problems, it wouldn't have surprised me at all, but now I think I might be the only one experiencing that otherwise people would be talking about it and even in the online newspapers.

I'll go again to tukcom and will see if someone has a clue about the problem, cheers.

  20. Hello,

I don't think it's general otherwise I would have read about it, but for several days I don't have a network signal and I am unable to use my mobile phone.

I bought the sim card in march 2010 and it's been working fine. I recently added 300 bahts, so it's not a problem of credits. It's the network which is not available for maybe 3 to 4 days I'm not sure.

But I can't even check my balance (for sure there are credits) because there's no network signal.

So do you think it has to do with my sim card, was it limited in time?

It's a normal 123call bought in a 7/11 and credited by cards bought in 7/11 too.

Did it happen to you before? Thank you for your help in the matter.
